Gorgeous Sunday here on the Hi-Line:
[Linked Image]

Botched a couple shots so we took a time out for some dump shootin'. When is the last time you did some real, old fashioned, dump shootin'?

[Linked Image]

She made a beautiful 15 yd shot. Offhand. She's also a damn fine retriever of dead schit.

[Linked Image]

Zero wind, 50ish degress. Our goal was 10 and we made that in about 2 hours.

Very cool indeed. Haven't done a proper dump shoot since my teens, was good entertainment though. What kind of place you hunting there, looks like lot's of old stuff scattered around. Used to love snooping around old abandoned farms and homesteads, always find interesting stuff. Kid looks like she had a hoot.

PS what up with the grass, aren't you supposed to be covered up in snow on the Hi-line?

Lots of bunnies in that dump too. Great time.

We were covered in snow until the warm front came in. My street literally went from a sheet of ice to dry pavement from the time I left to the time I got back this morning. About 5 hours timeframe.

Not to step on deflave's thread, but my boy has a Rascal and he loves it. Good shooting little rifle. Good trigger. Way better firearm than a chipmunk or most any other youth .22 I've been around.

The Savage Cub was more better but the Rascal is still the best of the itty-bitty youth rifles IMO.

The rear peep is crude but when it's adjusted, it stays adjusted. It shoots very well.

I'm using a 6X42 Leupold with M1's. Got the 25 MOA from DIP as well as the Burris inserts. I have dope to the 250 on it right now.

Yesterday schit was killed anywhere from 2 feet to 120yds. I'm loving that rifle.

the interesting thing about deflave and the personna he portrays on here is the 180 degree difference between reality, and what he like to portray.
I have absolutely no doubt that little girl owns him, Just like my daughter owns me.
The good thing, is if he is nice to her, is she might take care of him when he starts needing depends, and a drool bib. Girls are much more likely to do that than a boy child. My daughter is now past 50, when she was a kid she loved to shoot a ithaca single shot lever .22 i had. Which then automatically made it HER rifle. NOT. I finally located another one and she got that at Christmas. I think she still covets mine tho.

You'll notice it is a Montana Sling hat she is wearing as well.

Pat is actually one of the sponsors of Team 'Flave.

He provides us with slings and belts (after we pay for them) and will also say hi to me. Unless we're in public. Or there are cameras. Or he's busy.

It is probably hard for a lot of people to believe, but anybody that knows my family will tell you it is straight prison rules in my house. My children may seem sweet and loving, but they are quite cold and a bit evil IMO.

And I already wear depends. But only on weekends.

Travis;
Top of the morning to you sir, somehow I missed this yesterday but am glad I didn't miss it entirely.

Thanks for sharing the family hunt photos again - I never tire of seeing families afield and/or/especially fathers and kids sharing that experience.

It looks like you all got the makings for a couple good meals there and the dump shooting took me way back to Sunday afternoons in Saskatchewan where we'd occasionally go shoot rats at the nearest town's dump.

Lastly, I'm heartened to see you've included photographic evidence that at least three trees exist on the southern side of the medicine line thereabouts. wink

Thanks again Travis and all the best to you and yours this week.

No idea. You'd be amazed what all you find around old farms and ranches around here.

I have a good friend that got a 66' Charger with 383 and all, for free. All original. Nothing altered. Just needed restoration. Guy was sick of looking at it and about to divorce so when my buddy asked about it, he just told him to take it.

It's incredible what you find in the middle of nowhere.

You are wise. That is the plan.

You'll also note that I strategically spaced them out. 13, 7, and 1.

With this system I always have somebody to talk to. As one gets old enough to realize they hate me, the next one steps up and becomes my friend.

I should probably have one more...

By the time the oldest hates you, they'll have a license. Then, they can drive themselves and you still have the other two. That system works.

Very cool. Time spent killing stuff with kids is hard to beat.

I don't know about the contents of that dump, but there aren't many (non-breathing) things as fun to shoot at as porcelain toilets laying in a dump. ...note, that is porcelain toilets laying in a dump...not to be confused with a dump laying in a porcelain toilet.

Been a while since I've seen a junked car in a dump, but years ago they were pretty common, and lots of fun to perforate.

I don't know about the contents of that dump, but there aren't many (non-breathing) things as fun to shoot at as porcelain toilets laying in a dump. ...note, that is porcelain toilets laying in a dump...not to be confused with a dump laying in a porcelain toilet.

It's kinda funny, but most of the old cars you see around the dumps here don't have any holes in them. The glass might be shot out, and all the road signs are shot to schit, but there must be some sort of unwritten rule regarding the bodies.
