For those who have been praying and staying in touch;
Mark is in OR at this time. His surgeon decided he would leave in both of his "old" kidneys based on the new information from Mark's lab work late yesterday. Mark will get the new kidney today, and will be out of surgery in approximately 3 hours.
The surgeon wanted to reduce Mark's risk of complications and cited the fact he has had 3 stents in his heart, etc. He told Mark that the old kidneys could be removed in 6 months if they were causing any problems.
He is expected to feel like a new person with the new kidney. He will have much less fatigue, and will not have all the skin problems, sleep issues, etc. Not to mention losing water weight and having improved cognitive function.
Family and friends are here waiting for both Mark and his cousin, Vicky, to come out of surgery. We would appreciate any prayers at this time.
I'm not a fan of safariman, and I wish him no ill will, but the last thing on my mind while wife/husband is in life altering/threatening surgery, is to get on the "hunter's bashfire" and give a play by play.

I'd also be interested in an update of the kidney donor. Also no ill will towards anyone, but....... I will certainly pray for the Lord's healing and blessing for all involved.

Thanks for the up date. Will keep Mark in my prayers. Maybe I will get to shoot PD's with him yet. Sherri(sp) keep us posted. Cheers NC
You're welcome NC! I thought it would be nice to provide an update after so many folks praying for him, Vicky, and all involved. The staff and Vicky's husband [great guy BTW] told me they are "sewing in the kidney" and all is going well...about 30 minutes ago. We should be hearing more soon. This surgery is much less involved than what we thought they would do so there should be a shorter recovery time.
He has been drinking a lot of tea [some special mix with honey, etc] and it has helped him. ..that, and all the family and friends holding him up in prayer.

Yes she is! Vicky decided to do this for Mark and never wavered. She is the type of person who takes the bull by horns and gets things done. She had numerous hoops to jump through...multiple tests and blood draws. Her husband is solid as a rock and has been very supportive this entire time.

We just got through getting a report from Mark's surgeon. They are having a difficult time getting his blood pressure up. We are waiting for them to bring him up to ICU.
The surgeon is stumped and could use God's wisdom in knowing what to do. His blood pressure was fine right after surgery and then it took a nose dive. He is talking and in good spirits.

My T+1day BP was wicked low of 80/45. I didn't leave the ICU because of it.
It happens. He'll be fine in no time. But I know it is stressful for you.

Sherri, Thanks for the update. More Prayers sent up!
I once came to in an Ambulance with an EMT standing over me with a charged set of paddles. She was screaming he's got no heartbeat or blood pressure! Sure scared the chit out of me! When I got to the ER, my BP was 50 over 30. Luckily, I had survived a heat stroke.

Good to know. His BP has come up some. It's going up and down, but they are keeping a close eye on everything...especially his heart. He's sleeping now..at least until they come in again for their hourly check in. Thank you for all your prayers today.

Sitting in my recliner in rehab a few days after my first stroke, I felt ne'er a pain nor a worry. One of the babes came in, checked my blood pressure, and got all fretty — 60/50. Suddenly, a gaggle of gals fretted jitterly on my left, talking to others on my right.
"I'd like to get him into bed," one of 'em said to the others on the other side of me.
"I've waited years to hear a woman say that about me," I said.
Nobody so much as grinned.
Within minutes, my BP went back up to its usual 120/80, and it has stayed within that vicinity for over 13 years now.
Sherri, we'll see you both down here at the Campfire rendezvous in July. Hugs await.

Why don't you just keep your opinion to yourself, Mr. Nice Guy.

Stumping a surgeon isn't hard, actually. Surgeons are paid to cut, not to manage complex physiological processes. But don't worry, I'm sure the internists and intensivists who run the ICU will figure it out.

Sure hope everyone is going well this morning. Prayers sent.
Mark's BP has stabilized and the medical staff [hope I said this right, Doc Rocket] is very pleased with how the new kidney is functioning. The RN took him off the last of his BP medicine at 3:00 a.m. and his vitals look great! This is such a relief and wonderful answer to prayer.
They plan to keep him for another 3-4 days and move him out of CCU some time today. They are adjusting his medications and watching to make sure his body is not rejecting his new kidney.
Vicky and her family visited us this morning. She is doing exceptionally well and was able to walk. God is so faithful! We appreciate our "Fire" friends and the prayers you are speaking on our behalf!

Hey Kevin, You're buddy is doing great overall! He's tired, sore, hungry, and carrying a lot of extra water weight, but nothing out of the ordinary for post-op. Thanks for caring and praying
still perplexed about the surgeon's reluctance on the unilateral nephrectomy, suppose it's related to extenuating circumstances and stress to the total patient package
Oh boy. Now he gets all the green Jello he can eat. Party time!
I think the jello party is tomorrow. This hospital stay is bringing back memories from my time at CTCA! I dreamed of different flavors of jello that I could eat after 8 days of no food or water! You know you are REALLY hungry to look forward to jello.
I'm very fortunate because they have a hide-a-bed in this room with a privacy curtain for family that want to stay with their loved one. Mark had a "lazy boy torture chamber" to sleep in when I was hospitalized in Illinois. No fun!
I was very happy to get a call from Mark yesterday morning. His voice sounded pretty rough but it was great to hear from him. I continue in my prayers for you both.

Sherri - I just saw this. I'd forgotten his surgery date. He and you have my prayers. Vicky also has my prayers, and I will ask a special blessing for one who gave so freely! My absolute best wishes are with you both.

Thank you, Mark! Things went so well for Vicki that she was discharged today. She and her husband will stay in our RV until Mark is discharged, and possibly longer, as she will need to see the surgeon and get lab work on Monday.
Yes, praying right now for a good outcome. Lots of praying people here to support you.
Amen. We so appreciate every prayer and every supportive reply/contact. We have a wonderful family as well. We believe in the power of prayer and know God has a plan.
usually the trx surgeon will position the 'new' kidney down lower into the rim of the pelvis. This will cradle the dangling and also provide shielding from impacts
thus, that dovetails back into my previous cautioning about returning to eval knieval motorcycle or super dave stuntman stuff.
Just keep patrolling the local walmart, keeping everyone safe in the make-believe Shefire world.
Keep trying there RB, ya can't strike out from the Bench there Rauncho Bozo....

But I can't wait for the day, you end up in Mark's position...and then the forum members can return your sarcasm right back into your lap...where it belongs...
have a great day there Jack...
PS, Glad you found my message first thing this morning... its almost like you were trolling and looking for it..

Mark is being discharged from Virginia Mason. We are waiting for our ride back to the RV Park. He continues to heal well. The staff provided a good education regarding medicines, etc.
We'll be going in 3x a week to the clinic for lab work over the next 3-4 weeks so they can get his medications adjusted. He has a long road ahead, but he has a new lease on life so the miracle continues.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers! God has answered in a big way and we are so grateful.

Sounds like everything is on schedule and running well! You should now be so tired a 2-week vacation wouldn't help. My wife had it harder than me during my TX.
Just spoke with Lars and Brenda and they have been keeping us up to date. Glad to hear Mark is doing well. I'll be over in a week or so and will contact you about stopping by.

Hi David! It's great to hear from you, and to know that Lars/Brenda are keeping you in the loop. We would love to have you over for a visit! We hope Lars and Brenda can come at some point. We have had 4 days in a row of sunny weather here in Seattle. This must be a record
Mark's sister catches her flight back to California early in the a.m. Vicki has her last appointment in the afternoon tomorrow and then they head back to Post Falls. Mark's parents are here and have their own motorhome.
One of the first things we did was offer prayers of thanks to God following the surgery.
We go in for the labs and 2 appointments tomorrow so I'm going to call it a day. It's going to feel sooooo good to be in our own bed and to be able to shower again! Sponge baths help, but it's just not the same.

Why would any surgeon add 8 hours to an already complicated surgery?
Everyday, I encounter complete buffoonery in all corners of the human experience
Surely was just table talk for his boob friends on the campfire at the time.
And YES, I know what I speak of in case any old ‘gotcha’ couch cûnts or “bovine veterinarians “ want to challenge me.

And his Facebook profile STILL showed him as, "Medically Disabled", too, with however many years now past his successful kidney transplant surgery...
Can't get a license to sell insurance anymore due to getting busted too many times for his previous scamming of customers so he's apparently milking the SSI disability benefit for all he can...
...Expect soreness or pain around the incision site while you're healing. Most kidney transplant recipients can return to work and other normal activities within eight weeks after transplant. Avoid lifting objects weighing more than 10 pounds or exercising other than walking until the wound has healed (usually about six weeks after surgery)....
Unnamed cowards spewing hate. had no idea there were so many Democrats on this site.

Walter D.M. Bell has become a legend among elephant hunters due to his great success in the ivory trade during the golden age of hunting in East Africa. He is known as “Karamojo” Bell due to his numerous safaris through this remote wilderness area in North Eastern Uganda. He is famous for perfecting the brain shot on elephants, dissecting their skulls and making a careful study of the anatomy of the skull, so he could predict paths of bullet travel from a shot at any angle in order to reach the brain. Using mostly 6.5mm and 7mm caliber rifles, he was an advocate of shot placement over big bore power for killing efficiently.
Modern writers on the internet and in magazine articles have tended to refer to him and his tally of elephants in this vein, “He shot all of his several hundred elephants with a 7x57mm rifle” or words to that effect. In fact, Walter Bell killed 1,011 elephants in the course of his career. Since most people refer to him for his small caliber prowess and his elephant tally I thought I would try and break it down, because there are a great number of people quoting what “Karamojo Bell” did or didn’t do and I have noted a common tendency in the last few years to play down what he did with small caliber rifles. Perhaps this is in direct relation to the resurgence in popularity of magnums and the larger safari rifles. Craig Boddington is quite apt to mention the "few hundred elephants" that Bell took. (Mr. Boddington, I believe, is an erstwhile heavy rifle enthusiast.)
Bell recorded all of his kills and shots fired. It was a business to him, not pleasure, and he needed to record expenditures.
He shot exactly 1,011 elephants; about 800 of them were shot with Rigby-made 7x57mm (.275 Rigby) rifles and round nose 173 grain military ammo. He shot elephants with a Mannlicher-Schoenauer 6.5x54mm carbine using the long 159 grain FMJ bullets and noted that it was probably the most beautiful rifle he ever had, but gave it up due to faulty ammunition. He shot his first safari with a Lee Enfield in .303 British and the 215 grain army bullet. Thereafter he kept a ten shot Army& Navy Lee Enfield as a sort of back up and in the hope he might find ten elephants silly enough to stand around long enough for him to use the whole magazine. He went to rifles chambered in .318 Westley Richards for a while, which is a .32 caliber cartridge firing a 250 grain bullet at about 2400 fps, but found the ammunition unreliable and again returned to the 7x57mm. He later wrote that the .318 Westley Richards was more of a reliable killer for certain shots, while the 7x57 was a "surgeons" rifle. He also recorded that one of the reasons why he favored the 7x57 was that the ammunition was more reliable and he could not recall ever having a fault with it; whereas British sporting ammunition, apart from the .303 military ammo, gave him endless trouble with splitting cases. He owned a .450/400 Jeffrey double rifle made by Thomas Bland & Sons, but did not use it after his first safari, as he considered the action not rugged enough and the Mauser repeating action to be just as quick as a double for aimed shooting. He wrote about being able to drop an elephant with a light caliber rifle if he shot it in the same place that he would have shot it with a heavy rifle and realised this fully when he saw that elephants shot with a .303 died just as quickly when shot in the same place as a .450/400 double rifle with both triggers wired together, so they went off at the same time.
To judge ammunition expenditure and his own shooting, he calculated an average. He discovered that with the .275 (7x57mm) he fired an average of 1.5 shots per kill. This means that half the time he only needed one shot. That is a fair performance for such a large number of elephants killed with a rifle and cartridge that was intended for deer hunting.
It is also interesting to note that, although Bell is the most famous proponent of using small caliber "nitro" rifles for large game, he did not discover the technique, nor was he its earliest advocate. Well known hunter Arthur Neumann, for example, had been shooting elephants with a .303 Lee Metford rifle for years before Walter Bell got into the business.
WDM Bell is forever associated with the John Rigby & Sons Mauser rifle and the .275 Rigby cartridge. ".275 Rigby" was the British designation for the German 7x57mm Mauser cartridge. This cartridge propelled a .284 caliber, 173 grain bullet at around 2300 fps and the bullets he used for elephant brain shots were full metal jacketed solids. He declared once that a soft point bullet had never sullied the bore of his rifle. It is interesting to compare these ballistics with what is commonly regarded as essential performance today.
The Rigby Mauser was just that, a Mauser 98 action rifle in sporting configuration, half stocked and finely finished. The actions were made by the Mauser Company in Germany and Rigby had the rights to sell them in England. The Mauser action was the darling of the sporting world at the time and Bell was obviously a man who appreciated fine rifles; he bought the best. For most of his life, he was an advocate of the bead front blade and express rear sights. However, in later years he used an aperture sight, as well as early telescopic sights. His take-down .275 Rigby rifle was sold by his widow (after his death in 1954) to the writer Robert Ruark, who later presented it to Mark Selby, son of the famous white hunter Harry Selby. A constellation of famous African names converged around the ownership of this rifle. Interestingly, it is a half stock, take down rifle with a trap made out of the grip cap to store cleaning gear. Shot placement for the tricky brain shot on elephants required good marksmanship. Bell constantly practiced by dry-firing his rifle. He always carried his own rifle, eschewing gun bearers (another plus for the lightweight Mauser) and picked pretend targets of opportunity as he traveled, dry firing at a distant rock or bird. He believed that this was the single practice most beneficial to a hunter.
He was a great proponent of the bead foresight and it was his drawings with which he illustrated his first book Wanderings of an Elephant Hunter that explained to me how to use a bead front sight properly. You should hold the bead low in the notch so that your elevation is constant and open both eyes so that you can see through your hand and rifle with your non-shooting eye. Bell sighted his rifles with the point of impact in the centre of the bead. When used like this, with both eyes open, it is much like a red dot sight and I shoot my open sighted rifles this way quite successfully.
As a further example of marksmanship (if brain shooting a great many elephants isn’t enough), Bell once used up the remainder of his unwanted .318 ammunition by shooting flying cormorants out of the air. Spectators believed that he was using a shotgun and were amazed to find that he was actually using a rifle. He was also observed shooting fish that were jumping from the surface of a lake.
I will make the point that unlike many African writers (Peter Capstick jumps to mind), Karamojo Bell doesn’t seem to have been particularly threatened by an elephant, rogue or otherwise. Nor did he have to turn a charge or anything like that. The prose in his books has none of the trumpeting about the manly virtues of facing grisly death upon which Capstick built his writing career and that has been popular ever since Hemingway went on a couple of hunting trips. (Hemingway was disappointed when he shot a lion and it simply died.)
In his opinion, a great many of the charges that one heard about were actually panicked animals who didn’t know in which direction danger lay and were fleeing towards the hunter. In his letters he wrote that he had probably shot between 600 and 700 buffalo in his time and had never been charged even once. However, he stated that he made it his business to never have to deal with a wounded buffalo.
A great many people have tried to explain away Bell’s elephant hunting success by asserting that he didn’t need to hunt in thick cover and could shoot elephants from long range, the implication being that somehow the behaviour of African elephants must have been different back then. This is untrue, as any reader of his books will find. Bell hunted hard, walked thousands of miles, ran down elephants and was a very cool marksman at extremely close range. He sighted his rifles in right on the nose at 80 yards and preferred to get within 30 to 40 yards of his elephants. He would drop the first one, then climb on top of it so as not to be trampled by the other members of the herd and so he could get clear shots.
One does not walk down an elephant in uncharted African wilderness with a tool one regards as marginal and Bell had complete confidence in his ability to harvest elephants with the Rigby Mauser. It was his business and also his hide at stake, especially considering that the amount of money to be made was considerable. To put his efforts into perspective, he wrote of one day when he tracked and shot nine elephants. He estimated that he had earned 877 pounds sterling from the ivory harvested from those nine kills. After one expedition he returned with ivory worth over 23,000 pounds sterling. That was a vast sum of money and converted to today’s currency equivalent it would make your eyes water. One does not risk that kind of money and effort on a questionable calibre.
Walter Bell left Scotland a young adventurer obsessed with hunting. He first travelled to East Africa and took a short lived job as a lion hunter at the age of sixteen, on the same stretch of railway that later became notorious for the Lions of Tsavo, the extraordinary man-eaters that plagued the railway workers. He travelled to the Yukon Territory to cash in on the gold rush and make his fortune. It did not pan out and he became a market hunter, shooting game for the Dawson markets with a Winchester single shot falling block rifle, until he was robbed by his partner. He joined the Canadian forces sent to fight alongside the British in the Boer War in South Africa at the turn of the 20th Century. Taken prisoner at one point by the Boers, he managed to escape. When the war was settled, he stayed on and bought his way into elephant hunting, outfitting his first safari on foot into East Africa.
Bell made himself into a successful elephant hunter not just because of his skill with a rifle, but also due to carefully maintained good relations with the local people in the territories through which he travelled. At that time vast areas of Africa had not yet been penetrated by settlers or traders. For many of the native encountered, he was the first white man they had seen. He was always ready with gifts for chiefs and kings. He bought permission to hunt from them. One of his best ideas was to post a reward of a heifer for any African who gave him information about the whereabouts of elephants that led to five bulls being shot. He soon had a flood of elephant sightings coming in and he was as good as his word, readily paying for the information. For recaltrant natives, a shooting display with his Mauser Broomhandle semi-auto pistol, during which he would often shoot stones thrown by his men out of the air (easy enough, he wrote, with some practice) was enough to quell any ideas of attacking his camp.
Shooting buck animals for meat and hides was a large part of his regular duties as an ivory hunter. His porters, camp guards and personal men and their family could number as many as 200 people, for whom he had to provide meat. He also would shoot for meat and hides that were used as trade goods with the villagers in the areas he passed through. He used another rifle for this purpose, a long barrelled Mannlicher in 6.5x54mm made by Gibbs, for which he had a supply of soft nosed bullets. He wrote that this rifle was very accurate and probably had the largest job of all. With meat shooting and supplying hundreds of hides for sandals, donkey saddles and trade goods, this rifle was probably the busiest of all and with it he shot everything from antelope to giraffe.
When the Great War (World War I) broke out, he immediately headed back to England and joined the fledgling Royal Flying Corps, becoming a pilot and flying in Tanganyika (Tanzania). He was known for flying without an observer, because the observer obstructed his view when he tried to shoot down enemy planes with his rifle. In the Balkans he once shot down a German Albatross fighter with a single round. His machine gun jammed after that first shot, but the one shot was enough. He later served in Greece and Italy, achieved the rank of Captain and was twice decorated with the Military Cross.
After the War, Bell returned to ivory hunting, traveling by canoe into then uncharted African wilds after legendary herds of large elephants. He made his last expedition in the early 1920’s.
He retired to Scotland a wealthy man and after marrying an aristocratic wife he bought an estate in Scotland called “Corriemollie.” There is no unhappy or overly dramatic ending to his story. He lived unscathed through all of his adventures to enjoy the wealth he had accumulated with his rifle.
Walter Bell spent his later years writing magazine article and books on his exploits in Africa. He created water color paintings and ink drawings of red stags in the Highland tussock, as well as paintings of splendidly depicted elephants on the savannah, made with an eye for anatomical detail and an appreciation of the body language of the African elephant. He used them to illustrate his books. With his wife he had a racing yacht built he called Trenchmer and successfully sailed it competitively. During World War Two, he was active in the home guard. This was now his third war.
He continued to keep abreast of shooting developments and hunted red deer in the Scottish hills with a Rigby Mauser in .22 Savage High Power (5.6x52R). In the 1930’s, he purchased a Winchester Model 70 in the then new .220 Swift caliber with a telescopic sight. He swore by this as the perfect round for red deer, due to its lightning kills with a neck shot.
He made it clear in a magazine article published in American Rifleman in 1954 what he would use if he returned to Africa. With his vast experience ivory hunting, he felt he could put his finger on the perfect caliber for the purpose, which he felt was the .318 Westley Richards, or the 8x57mm Mauser. However, if he had to do it all over again with a modern rifle he would choose a Winchester Model 70 in .308 Winchester loaded with homogenous bullets and sighted with a ghost ring rear aperture sight.
Like everyone, WDM Bell was a product of his times and to hunt the dangerous big game of Africa with such light caliber rifles would be illegal today. The legacy that WDM Bell leaves us is that perfect shot placement, coupled with proper bullet construction, trumps caliber every time. The best thing you can do to increase your hunting success is to understand the anatomy of your quarry and practice with your rifle until you can put your first shot exactly where it should go.
Is this the guy that claimed his dad was murdered, got investigated for scamming old people with fraud insurance, booked (less than described) African hunts, and had several shady classified sales? All while claiming how good of Christian he is? Or am I merging multiple stories together?

Please post another bikini shot of your wife only have her take her top off this time.
LOL! It amazes me that these losers have nothing better to do with their time. Root and safariman need to piss off
Most likely ElkHtrNevada is Larry Root back again posting using a new 'Sock Puppet' handle...Definitely his style, too...
He also tends to plagiarize by posting stuff he copies from internet sources without giving credit to the original source, implying it's his thoughts and knowledge ...
The floorplate is engraved WDMB. Harry Selby later had a scope fitted to it.

While Safariman outed himself as a dishonest scam artist and got his just rewards from the membership here I can’t help but feel like we, the members here, have come out on the short side of this. JJ Hack has a lot of knowledge and I always enjoyed his posts but after the Uberlanche bear hunt and retrieval story he has been conspicuously absent.
I’d like to see JJ Hack post again and I believe this place is better with guys like him participating.

Re-reading SM threads air always kinda depressing. He fooled almost everyone. Wish I could say not me, but I don't know. Was a lurker for a long time, never focused on him. But it didn't take long to get a bad feeling.
Always needing a handout was a big clue.
Good people don't often cry poor mouth and solicit charity. Then there was the buying and bragging about custom guns.
DillonB sick and broke arse, he done sold his good guns. Got an old 38 for the bedroom and slumming a POS rifle if he is able to hunt. Long before he is begging.
And the constant religious thing? Didn't ring true. Just not quite right.
Spiritual folks reading this. Be very aware it is a very common and effective tool to inspire confidence. Whether a con like SM, or just plaques on the wall of a car dealer. A guy starts talking about God, but never asks if you are saved?
Y'all ran the guy off years ago, perhaps it's time to let bygones be bygones. Yet the fascination with bashing him persists. Bashers must have awfully dull lives if the choose to occupy their time with this kind of BS !

My most sincere apologies. I was just curious if they took the extra kidneys out. What happens to the extra ones? If I had 4 of them, could I hammer the Stoli even harder?

Also, you may consider changing your handle. It would appear that John Burns is actually the "Wizard." Self-proclaimed, but still.
Safariman was posting multiple trade offers a day or two before, - the VERY day of, - and a few days following the above pizza restaurant sponsored special, "Mark Claiborne", fund raiser event meant to help out with his kidney transplant expenses. No mention whatsoever that he wanted to sell off non-essential items for cash to add with the kidney transplant expense fund raiser money. Instead, he just kept right on trying to hustle up trades.
This was also right before his wife was to be hospitalized and undergo surgery/treatment for cancer. He was even still online here trying to hustle trade deals shortly after posting that she was just out of surgery but suffering greatly from some complications.

I didn’t know an individual would go that far. Stay good men. Love ya worthy guys.
I spent a week end up in Washington shooting squirrels with Mark... forget his complete handle, but 6mm Remington, or something close to that, were also there up in Eastern Washington or Oregon, ( I forget where) with his grand son.
People have often asked me, how in the hell did I put up with him, and how did I trust him?
I didn't trust him... face to face that took less than 3 seconds to realize, he.. me... and my wallet were not going to be a subject of a conversation. I really have often wondered if he scammed Asphalt Angel ( forget her name after all these years, but she was a nice gal ) the same way he tried to scam everyone else.
I wonder if he is even still alive... his health wasn't that good and its been 7 years ago...
I think the chances are better than he is gone and buried by now, for quite a while, instead of still being among us. That is if someone didn't finally off him for some of his shenanigans.

Back in 2020 he gave a quick update on himself. Said he had a heart attack required 3 stints somethings (I'm no medical guy) Said he doesn't shoot or hunt etc. due to his medical problems. But who knows how much truth their was to all of that.

The delta elite in 10mm he shot way way hot loads through it ph ucked it up bad. Conned one of the top 1911 smiths to un ph uck it. Gave the smith the ol I’m broke, can’t work but can pay installments some chit like that. Guy felt bad for him fixed it for free..
Wasn't that Jack Huntington?
I think so, have to go digging. But he called him Wo is me and guy felt bad for him.
We need more people shooting 400 trapped bears with Hornady XTP's, posting how they always expand and work but never telling anyone how far away from the muzzle they are....

I don't use the ignore feature as a crutch, YMMV (obviously).
You could always stop peaking since you've already got me on ignore....just can't resist the toggle though can ya? Fu.ckin' gash.

Back in 2020 he gave a quick update on himself. Said he had a heart attack required 3 stints somethings (I'm no medical guy) Said he doesn't shoot or hunt etc. due to his medical problems. But who knows how much truth their was to all of that.
Well John,
I AM a medical guy. extensively trained in the Army, 91 Bravo, 91 Charlie, 91 Sierra , 300F1, 54 Echo... Back on the street after I got off active, I was licensed as an LPN, then RN, EMT and Paramedic.. 2 yrs hospital (Madigan AMC), 2 years on a MedEvac Crew and 2 years running a MASH unit. in the Civilian World, I've scrubbed into heart cases at teaching hospitals, representing new products in about a dozen states a good 15 years...scrubbed into a bunch at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota where I lived for 15 years...over 500 of those at least there.
Plus I've met Mark several time and even been in the varmint fields with him.
My analysis, he's lucky he's still alive... He's had some good medical treatment, and he's doing well it seems. But someone with his issues, better walk a thin line, and keep on the straight and narrow, because they can be here on minute and gone the next. They have NOTHING they can push, or the replacement parts will just give out on them, on the spot. Best layman's terms I could put it in.
I wish no man illwill ( well that's a lie... but doesn't include Mark) I got along with the guy just fine... but around him, it took me all of 30 seconds or less to figure out , He, My Wallet and Him, were not going to be a threesome. His wife is an angel. We all should be so lucky.
so yeah, he shouldn't be out shooting, hunting or riding his Harley at all, not if he wants to stay alive to see next week. His body is that used up. But if you guys are saying you are seeing him on FaceBook, then he's walking the line and holding up well.. but ONE wrong step and that can change instantly.
I think the chances are better than he is gone and buried by now, for quite a while, instead of still being among us. That is if someone didn't finally off him for some of his shenanigans.

I’ve been through very similar as Mark, no stents but all that with the transplant. I even had the double nephrectomy. Mild heart attack during a previous surgery.
I’m roofing barns, (august-october) deer hunting by myself, dislodging 150lb rocks in icy water up to my knees under a stuck 4 wheeler, (yesterday)
Building decks, rehabbing rental properties, cutting 20-30 cords of wood.
All with a failed current transplant, 11 GFR heart function 36% ejection fraction Renal cell carcinoma
I’d bet he is in better shape than, me. Looks pretty good if that voting pic is recent.
Just sayin, I post pics of myself everyday…gettin it and doing something besides watching ignorant ass western movies and rotting in a recliner.

Safariman's current wife, Sherri Potter-Claiborne (1st wife's name was spelled SHERRY), posted she worked in mental health -- her mom struggled for years with mental health issues.
Her dad, Don Potter, also was an insurance salesman...
Looks like she found herself a twofer all rolled into one with Safariman...
Waiting to see one of you joining some family tree site so you can tell us about where his family came from back 16 generations. Probably reading all this commentary and laughing his azz off. You do know he is still a member here ?

🤣🤣🤣 Not being accepted and having 0 credibility is a mutha fugga to em. Sockpuppets give them comfort like they are getting even in their minds with all members who fuuuk em up.
Years long cases of simmering butthurt is basically what it is. How many Sockpuppets has Warrry Wooot had 86,d in the last 2 or 3 months. Like the last one " selling" that 336 remlin POS....
Then ya seen a couple of his others coming in on that thread for support and credibility building.
Simmering butthurt.... A uncurable obsession for Sockpuppet trolls. Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock........
Way back, I got the invitation to come to Washington and go squirrel hunting with him. After meeting up with deflave on a similar invitation, I have since declined all invitations.
I did sell him a 22 pistol and after he got it, he said it didn't work and started playing the "I can't use it, I am broke and want my money back" routine, so I sent him his money back. He continued to befriend me with PMs and friendly messages, for what purpose, I know not.
He had a 25-35 SRC that he was selling and I was interested, so by his description, I bought it. When It got here, it was not what he described and I told him it was coming back. He said he had spent the money on some medical procedure and was wanting to do some sort of trade back or some such thing, I told him to sell a kidney and send me my money back.
This was before the Avalanche and the single shot pistol debacles, but certainly a foreshadowing of what he potential really was...

They sure are... Looks like Larry Root runs and tells Mark "Safariman" Claiborne every time his name comes up on the Campfire, too...
"Birds of a Feather..."

Lawrence Root: It didn't matter, the fix is in. Tossed off you know where again. keep going back --- drives the trolls nuts.

Lawrence Root: Hey Mark, see you are STILL being badmouthed on Bin's insane home ! They remain as crazy as a barn full of pet coons !
Mark Claiborne: Lawrence Root Yeah, I logged back in to say HI! I am doing great! And was banned shortly after. Chickens

Why would Mark be banned?
As I remember it, he decided not to come here anymore.... Don't think he was banned.
Rick may have banned a sockpuppet being a chit stirrer, but I don't think the Safariman was banned. He's probably just too ashamed to use it.

That said, I should NOT have stated in a matter of fact way like I did that he had absolutely been murdered when that was not known too be the case for absolute certain. For this I am truly sorry.
I am still mourning the loss of my father and am not choosing to invest a lot of time or emotional energy towards how he died right now. Some may handle this differently if you were in the same shoes but this is what I am doing for myriad reasons.
Further, it has become clear to me that my association with 24 hour campfire is no longer of a benefit to anyone that I can think of so I am breaking my association with this forum as of now, for good.
The friends I have made here have begun communicating with me via other methods. I am thankful for these friendships and in this way the campfire has enriched my life.
There will be no point in replying here in any way that is directed toward me as I will not be looking at or reading any reply's to this, just as I have not read past the first two pages or so of reply's to my last thread about my fathers passing. I will also not be checking PM's here so there will be no point in sending one.
Good bye to all, and may your lives be blessed. All of you.
Safariman's first five post right after he became a registered member here are quite revealing in that he came here primarily for the hustle potential.
The first two posts he made were in a thread Pete E started about his African plains game safari. Safariman obviously tries to one-up Pete E's hunt with his $11,000 bull elephant and $3,000 cape buffalo safari story.
Then in his very next three posts he kept on highly recommending that others use the booking agent he and his friends prefer, an outfit called, Aahsome African Adventures,... but, ... being "Safariman" he of course neglected to say who (at that time) owned Aahsome African Adventures LLC

Description
Greetings; After booking hunts all over North America, including Alaska, for two decades, I finally started hunting in southern Africa and soon decided that Africa was so much more fun, and offered so much more in the area of successful hunts, good value for ones hunting adventure dollar and so very much more in the way of comfort and the treatment one receives while on safari compared to what I and my clients had ever experienced anywhere in the US that I closed down all US operations and began Aahsome African Adventures. Since I have focused my efforts on Africa I have had the great joy of assisting numerous clients enjoy their first ever African Safari. First Safari's have a special place in my heart and I genuinely enjoy assisting newcomers to the grand continent of Africa. I also have assisted many Safari veterans plan Safari's where they have successfully hunted all of the worlds largest, most dangerous and sought after animals. Many have taken trophies that will rank high into the various record keeping books. My operation is different from most in that I will not regularly book for a safari operator that I have not personally met, hunted with and experienced hunting camps with. Additionally, I do not book for operators whose 'Safari' area's are primarily farms and ranches. In my opinion, this is not the real Africa. It certainly is not what I grew up reading about and dreaming about and I doubt that it is what makes most of us want to travel there. Lastly, I try to help my clients with all aspects of thier safari experience including travel, packing, firearms and ammo counsel, taxidermy, shipping and what to expect and plan for in all area's. In short, I try to be a truly full service safari consultant and put my clients in areas and with Proffesional Hunters who are highly skilled and experienced, who hunt in truly wild places, and who are my friends. I invite you to allow me the great privilige of assiting you with your first, or next, African adventure. I am betting that once you do you will be back many times over. Good luck and good hunting! GOOD HUNTING! Mark B. Claiborne

Thanks, that little girl is 10 years old now. Took her on our annual pheasant hunt this past weekend. She did well, but age is catching up to her, as it is all of us. She only made to retrieves and flushed 4 birds, the younger dogs were just too fast for her. She loved being out on the hunt. Her new little sister will have big shoes to fill.
Are those two some sort of Thoroughbred Breed? They both sure are good looking dogs. and look individually as smart as hell.
Hope ya don't mind, but I copied each pic there, to use as a screen saver... I like both so darn much.
What Breed are they? I need to start looking for one... on the other end, am waiting for a 3 year old brown lab in the neighborhood to go into heat, as the owners are finally going to breed her, and they got me on the list for one of the pups.
I hope both of those dogs give you a long life span of joy, I assume Abbey is the name of the older one. also hope you have Lucy a long time...both just such handsome dogs.

They are Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.
They are both from the same breeder and she is just outside of Spokane, WA.
