Not my favorite album, but, the art was fantastic.
Makes me miss phonographs.

No pics available but mine would be Maynard Ferguson's New Vintage - his silver trumpet jammed into a bucket of ice. If you've seen him play, you'll understand...

While all the album covers are amazing Rancho_Loco's submission of Herb Alpert, Tijuana Brass: Whipped Cream & Other Delights wins hands down. I discovered that album in my parent's collection when I was about 12 and have loved whipped cream ever since. blush -tnscouter

Pros and cons of hitchhiking. Nice. wink Was a big PF/Waters/Gilmour fan for years; saw many shows. Wish I were old enough for a day to have seen Animals live, but oh well.

Also have a soft spot for BIB. I had my first date with a beautiful young Japanese gal in '81 I'd just met at the new school I was attending in Tokyo. She was 13 at the time. I was younger. A couple of decades passed between that era in the early '80s and the time I found her again in '00, I think it was. For the past 11 years I've been calling her my wife. Good times.

" Forces of evil they never surrender
Sooner or later the dark era comes "

" Crying man on the run, he's searching for freedom
But there will be none ! "

Ringworm; IIRC, did they not go by [SOFT WHITE UNDERBELLY] when they were an underground west coast band...Before they hit it big time? Did the circuit with 'AIRPLANE' etc.?

Yes, a true must-see!!

Interesting theme... for the next couple of years after that video came out, Halloween parties were full of "Robert Palmer Girls". EVerything from gorgeous divas to fat guys dressed up in tight dresses and white makeup. I played bass in a cover band at the time, and we did a couple of Robert Palmer tunes. The year "Simply Irresistible" came out, I was belting out the first verse when 3 gorgeous girls in tight, short red dresses and white makeup climbed up on the stage and started dancing behind us... and man, they were good! Great choreography, great figures, the whole bit. Turned out they were drag queens, but it was fun anyways.

Looking at the posts already, there's a lotta great art... but I guess that used to be the norm. Nowadays, with CD cases being so small, the art just ain't what it used to be.

Here's a couple that are evocative for me:

DOC; Seems like neither is the music these days.
BTW; Saw them at the Jacksonville Auditorium in '70 or '71. Best concert ever attended. Cousin's boyfriend was family to the Allmans. Front row center seats.
The best that Dickie Betts ever played was when he was with them; they seemed to complement each other.

Now you're talking!

[Linked Image]

The spread propertied came from:

Leo's Mexican Restaurant
In 2001 Leo's Mexican Restaurant closed its doors, to the chagrin of Tex-Mex connoisseurs and ZZ Top fans. In his younger years, founder Leo Reynosa, Sr. rode with Pancho Villa. When he opened the restaurant on Shepherd Drive in 1942, he decorated the walls with photos of Villa and relics from the Mexican Revolution. The menu recounted Leo's adventures as a revolutionary.

In 1993, the restaurant moved to 77 Harvard Street, after the landlord of the Shepherd location tripled the rent. Leo died two years later. The lease on the new location, which was just off Washington Avenue, expired in 2001. Leo's sons Felix and Robert Reynosa closed when they couldn't find another property they could afford in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. More than a thousand customers signed a list asking to be notified if the restaurant found a new location.

Another Reynosa brother, the late Leo Jr., once worked for ZZ Top when the bad toured. Band member Billy Gibbons became a loyal customer of the restaurant. While the restaurant may be gone, a Leo's Tex-Mex feast is forever immortalized in the double-truck photograph that graces the inside cover of ZZ Top's 1973 Tres Hombres album
