I actually listened to KLAC as a kid, that was Buck's station out of Bakersfield. Today's country ain't what it was like then, but Dwight gives it a good go. First wave punk, 2nd wave ska, surf, new wave, we had it all living in southern california, I then started really listening to jazz in the 90's, and classical. Moved up to Norcal and a buddy at work turned me on to Bluegrass, which all the former deadheads loved.

Now I'm happy that my kids give a listen to all I like with an open mind, and love to hear the history of some of it and how it came about. Daughter loves old vinyl, classical, and the stones, too. Boy has some good jams on his ipod, and of course, loves hip hop.

Should I post a vid of Shostakovich's 7th?

Yeah, something has changed. Try pulling up the video you want, but don't hit play. Right click on it and select "Copy Shortcut". That's what I've had to do lately and it only seems to work with Explorer not with Firefox....

Love this tune. He found away to convey a musical sensation of soaring, in both voice and instrument; then gliding, and descending after an ascent. A song of power, beauty, and positivity. Musical brilliance IMO.

And for the love of pete, I looked hard for a decent rendition of Oh, Shenandoah on youtube and despite all the version, I found them all lacking; either too high an octave, not full enough sound, or too simple, or some kind of warbling etc, etc. And some version of a guy passing a kidney stone as he forced out the words. such a beautiful song.

And lastly, still my favorite girl.
I guess this is a vintage video. Pretty ridiculous, but you get to see alot of her- what a beauty, able to dial up then back off that powerhouse voice she has; plus you get to see all the pieces of her band that make up her terrific, eclectic sound. Alot of brass, piano, bongos, dual guitar, and drums.

Best concert I've ever been to was Flogging Molly. BLEW the doors off acts known for putting on a show like Garth or Brooks and Dunn. high energy doesn't begin to describe it.
