Don't misunderstand me, the ACA is a piece of crap that brings us one giant step closer to socialized medicine, which will be a disaster. I'm pissed that the Federal government is allowed to force us to take health insurance. I am angry that it had overcomplicated healthcare and added useless regulation, paperwork and penalties to a system that needs simplification. I'm not all that angry at the Supreme Court. They do what they do and that is interpret laws.

I AM pissed at Congress and the jackasses that passed this in the first place. "We have to pass it to find out what's in it" and all of that bullcrap.

It is the job of Congress to make and pass laws. It became en vogue for the GOP to give up the fight and lean on the Supreme Court to find laws unconstitutional and things the Left foisted upon us. No more! Better dig in and fight from now on. Roberts et. Al. will no longer do your dirty for you.

I'm pissed at the electorate that put Øbama and his minions in power, but pleased they reversed the House as soon as possible. I'm pissed at the Dead Cat voters who lead the passive-aggressive apathy in '12. I certainly will be more than pissed if some Third Party yahoo torpedoes the GOP in '16 and elects the Beast.

From now on, fight the fight in Congress, and not in court. You can't count on them and shouldn't have to.
I agree, Congress should do their job correctly.

That Congress didn't do their job correctly doesn't allow the SCOTUS to not do theirs correctly. Checks and balances rely on each other. We shouldn't have to rely on the courts, but we should be able to.
Dude, WAKE THE FRICK UP!!!!

Republican majorities in both the Senate and the House just gave our unabashed Communist in Chief sweeping and UNPRECEDENTED powers to negotiate trade deals that will have an effect on everything from immigration to gun control.

Frick man, not only did they pass it, but they lead the charge. Defeated once, they went back for it again.

I sorry but FRICK THEM!! I don't really give a rip anymore. They just got elected by arguing that Obama was practically evil incarnate and THEN they go and give him carte blanche and unprecedented powers.

I don't care if another Republican ever gets elected to ANYTHING more than dog catcher. Frick them with a rusty nail.
I'm seething. And I don't seethe easily.

Exactly!
What we need to to is get out and vote. Lol! ...vote the good /rite guys in .....lol !!! Lol !
I find it sad that all the lawyers in Congress could not draft a document accurately defining their intent. We needed the courts to explain it to us.

In this instance, I strongly favor the minority opinion.
I'm seething and can't believe some aren't.

The SCUSA has two functions, to interpret the law, and to determine constitutionality of law. It is also a checks and balance on the power of the other two brances of government.

It has completely abrogated its authority and responsibility, not once but twice in the case of ACA!!!

Congress isn't going to magincally grow a sack and write good law due to the SCUSA bending. On the contrary, without the SCUSA performing its mandated duty of finding ACA unconsitutional and requiring the congress to scrap it and start over, Congress has no incentive to craft well written concise laws in the future.

You need to care and care who gets in next. My point is that they have to extinguish the idea that the Supreme Court will undo anything they don't like and roll over on tough votes hoping that Roberts and Scala will bail them out.

Now, on to the TPA that has you wound up. What you fail to understand about the TPA that you allude to is that the President, ANY President can only NEGOTIATE trade agreements. They still must be voted on to become law. That is no different that the SALT or SALT II Treaties with the Soviets 40 years ago. SALT II was negotiated by Jimmy Carter and never ratified. It never became law. Same thing goes here.

The President can negotiate all he wants, but Congress must ratify it.

The GOP has gotten into habit of reliying on the SCOTUS to fix their messes. They need to take care of their messes before they become law and thus left to the whim of the Court. You know damn well the Libs in the Court are biased and therefore you should not be surprised when they screw us.

For all the McCain and Romney haters, you can bet had they won you would not have a Kegan and Sotomayer on the bench. Maybe you wouldn't have anyone like Bork, but it would not be so hard core Left.

Exactly. I want better people on the bench.

Yes. Which is why I didn't get my knickers in a knot over TPA. But given the tendency of Congress to roll over and play dead for anything Obama wants lately, I'm not real reassured they won't ratify any treaty he negotiates.
I'm not sure this is not better than having Nancy Pelosi or another of her ilk doing the negotiating and then sending a bill to Obama's desk.

Agreed. Hypocrites and rat-ba$tard$ to the Nth degree. All of em'.
This decision got me from 99% sure to 100%....I am never voting again. It doesn't matter even a little, because we now have a legal precedent from the highest court/super-legislature that laws only mean whatever the arbitrary whim of unaccountable people with unlimited power feel like they mean on any given day according to whatever personal politics they are feeling at any given moment.

It is ARBITRARY WHIM of unaccountable, omnipotent oligarchs as ruling authority. Shorter term - abject, pure tyranny.

Voting, participating, politics, etc...all meaningless since no law means what is written, only what 5 of 9 justices feel like it means on any given day. U of M law school made the 14th Amendment vague and meaningless, Kelo makes the 5th Amendment vague and meaningless, and this latest decision makes written law itself utterly meaningless. Whatever is the media's favored position that month, that week, that day or even that minute....that is what law means.

So you vote. Your guy wins. That guy gets some truly awesome piece of legislation passed that you are in love with. It doesn't matter one bit, because if at some later date the media and 5 of 9 justices don't like that law, they'll simply invalidate it. Likewise, your guy loses, and a law you hate gets written and the government rules you by all manner of breaking, ignoring, bending said law. Okie doke, all they need to continue their nonsense is the media and 5 of 9 justices to say "yeah, but the law is what we say today, so the government can keep f**king with you because well, they have a compelling interest and what they meant was...."

Either way, your vote, your guy, your party, your ideology, and the written law itself are all UTTERLY MEANINGLESS AND SUBORDINATE to what 5 of 9 justices and the media feel at any moment.

I can't even figure out what to call this form of tyranny. Rule by the dumbest few + corporate media + apathy/ignorance of the citizenry? Not exactly sure what that is called...any PoliSci majors out there that can drop a term for that?

In any case, voting is officially the biggest waste of time and most glaring example of delusional, wishful thinking in this particular body politic.

6-3, the SCOTUS just convinced me to never vote again because my vote is perfectly useless and meaningless. My efforts are far better directed at avoiding Leviathan's "gentle caresses", and finding ways to protect my life, my family and my property from their tyrannical whimsies. mad

I agree 100%!

And all this BS translates into: Communism
The Rule of Law Charisma
when the rule of law and the meaning of words no longer matter you should probably seethe a bit.

course I guess it depends upon what your definition of "is" is.

I'm a much simpler thinker than you are, I'm not pissed because now the liberal democrats are stuck with this rotten leviathan tied around their necks, with nobody to blame it on.
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."

By the end of the Summer (more events are sure to follow), the tepid Rove/Rino/Boehner/McConnell/ GOP coalition will be even more exposed as any measurable alternative to the dems.

Having the voting populace that is tuned in and not a lackey to the current letter R, garner any enthusiasm for them, will be damn near impossible...
We just need to get more people enrolled in Obamacare to sink it.

All .gov employees would be a good start.
Read Codeword: Barbelon - Danger in The Vatican, by P.H. Stuart and then read Rulers of Evil, by F. Tupper Saussy.

In between your readings, check the religious backgrounds of say 6 of 9 justices, pay close attention to the recent blatherings of the Pope and the sect he belongs to, and it becomes quite clear why Zerocare is allowed to stand in spite of it's Constitutionality.

Actually the Forward of Rulers of Evil will set the theme.
I didn't hear one mention of constitutionality, only the intent of the lawmakers...I thought SCOTUS was supposed to rule on the former.
Stepping out of society and turning into some sort of recluse behind concertina is sure as hell tempting, but I HAVE to continue to try and fix this through the process we have in place. While I was too young to remember fully, I for one know what it means to lose it all, leave one's home and way of life and start somewhere else and there's really nowhere else to go. I'll continue to to vote and if it comes to some sort of civil action I can do that too. One thing I am NOT doing, is checking out...

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical"

TJ was right but sadly we no longer have the stones. There will be no storming of the Bastille. I fear this experiment in Democracy is over.

I thought nothing would make me feel more defeated than the day Obama was re-elected. I was wrong.

If someone offered hope I would cling to it.
we have near socialized medicine now, or at least fascist medical care. look at impacts of Medicare, and Medicaid and how they are increasing. it's state run or mandated health care.

throw in the multi-billion dollar insurance industry which is a form of socialism, and you've got it. and they're regulated by whom?

I think fascism is closer to describing it than socialism, actually.

Somehow, that fact doesn't make me feel one bit better with limp dicked McConnell and Boner at the helm.
my concern is the genie is out of the bottle on health care and revoking the ACA would do little to help the consumer.

Will revoking the ACA reduce the cost of health care premiums? I doubt it, and there is little incentive to introduce the lower cost catastrophic care policies to compete with the high deductible policies that exist now.

So that just leaves the insurance companies the option to go back to denying coverage.

My point is - by eliminating the ACA, we get stuck with all the problems that led to the ACA - AND we have the higher prices that are a result of the ACA.

Don't put your trust in the GOP for a second to make the right decision at this point in regards to the ACA.

I hate what the ACA has done to my health care - but I'm even more scared of what the fallout would be if its gone.

Again, the court has defined the issues for the next election.
2010 was a Conservative landslide.
2012 was lost because about 4 million so-called Conservatives did not show up in critical swing states.
2014 was a Conservative landslide.
2016 will be the next Conservative landslide if a strong Conservative can beat the GOP Good-Old-Boys in the primaries.
Thanks to the SCOTUS, that Conservative will win the general in the third Conservative landslide. And hold both Houses.

That our day is over and our race has been run is nothing more than LSM Left-wing propaganda. They are the ones telling us to stay home and not vote.
Unbelievable how so many have bought into their sales job.
They are today's Sunshine Soldiers.

I am inclined to agree. Conservatives now have issue they can use to unite, if they quit feeling sorry for themselves and don't crawl into isolation.

This is precisely the right moment to become politically active and fight for conservative candidates at every level. It is also time to embrace any politician Right of Center to swell the Conservative movement. Quit bitching about what the GOP hasn't done and quit whining about who is not Conservative enough.

It is precisely the right time to embrace everyone from Chris Christy to Rand Paul and all those in between..United, the Right can take the Senate, expand the House, and defeat the beast.

There is now a cause and it should be obvious by putting away petty differences, 2016 can right the ship just as 1980 did. Get the yeast out of your mangina and fight for your cause instead of giving up. The very same people that are moaning about "it's over" claim to be the ones that would fight to the death for the 2nd Amendment. Got any fight in you for the rest of the Constitution? Maybe you might want to work on getting a President elected that won't put a Keagan or Sotomayer on the bench. eh?
What will the Republicans do for Americans if they hold the Presidency and both houses?
The same thing they are doing now, while holding both houses, nothing.

Those who control the money control the country.

That's why the executive branch, congress, and the supreme court never seem to do anything to benefit the people.

The "so called" government's job is to bullshit the people.

That's all it does. The actual control of the country comes from the people who own the money machine.
Elections are when the people get to choose their bullshitters. A position as a government bullshitter pays good and has ample benefits.
Hey, we had to pass it to find out what was in it.

Remember?

A lot can be learned from American blacks and the way they went about things from the 1960s to the present day.

How many here have wondered how any decent black person can stand behind Al Sharpton for any reason. Lots of us, right?

It's because blacks learned that for any black politician to have power, all black politicians had to have power, or else they tear all of each other down. Sharpton doesn't fight with Jesse Jackson in public for that reason.

If we're serious about making the GOP a dominant power again, then we would do well to follow the same play book. Put up with Christy to protect Paul. Put up with Jeb to protect Cruz.

Sounds like some words to a pretty sweet country song. Maybe one about some old boy who married him a trophy wife about thirty years younger...Maybe have that Kerosene chick sing it, the one who's married to that Blake Shelton.

I mean...yeah, where can I sign up to donate some dollas to old Mitch or McCain? I can't wait to go cast a ballot for Chris Christie or Jeb Bush. It's no wonder we're in the shape we're in the way some of you assclowning idiots "think".

You're like a lot of folks, lacking intelligence. To spell it out for you, there is small enough difference between the ones I mentioned and the Democrats that it is living under Socialist domination. But "feel free" to continue in your ignorance and/or self-delusion. You are not alone.

Moral equivalence is the refuge of the lazy. And the Democrats, ironically.
