Well, it was within 100 miles of me on the 25th and the 1st. After 47 phone calls, 4 people and assurance, it's left Memphis again and just arrived in Springfield, MA.

Nope
Not your boat
Never mind
Well, OK, I would be livid. Should I throw one in the mail so you can hunt?
Just received a text update.
It has DEPARTED SPRINGFIELD, MA and is headed to MEMPHIS.
I can't tell you how much fun it is to watch a gun do that much traveling.
We really do need more gun control!
It is a Smith and Wesson, likely the reason it keeps going back to Springfield.
The irony of that is the only thing that has kept me from throwing my computer out the window.
Lil phugger just wants to come home
Sorry man but that's TFF!
He does have his moments!!
Yes he does. They're noteworthy due in part to infrequency.
He's busy tonight watching Longmire with the Yorkies.
Sounds like Obama and Homeland Security have taken over running the Post Office...
Steelhead, you've got more patience than me.
Oh, I have got one question... Is this a 'Red Ryder' your waiting on?
ugh. I feel your pain. I have one that seems to be floating around in limbo as well.
I'm curious, if nothing was ever said (not that it has helped so far) how long this would go on for?
Hell, I tried to send another email on USPS sight and they said that the case for that tracking number has been closed.
The woman on the phone told me the other day that all is golden.
Of course all I got was her voice mail on Friday. I'm going to start calling today and leave 100 messages.
I'll wave when it passes through Idaho.
Geeze... hope the gun is still in the box.
want me to go get it? i can ship it to you by another carrier!
ked
I'm pretty sure you aren't the FFL it's addressed to, but thanks.
What possible explanation did they offer for it going back and forth?
Was the FFL closed when they attempted delivery or something?
Mike

That doesn't seem to have made any difference.

I had USPS pay off on a vintage Gibson guitar before they found it three months later sitting in a post office in Michigan. It was going from Texas to Florida.

There was no attempted delivery. It never left Memphis for my local post office. They say the machine in Memphis is reading something wrong and sending it back.

Most important, will this make the next pig hunt?

i meant it as humor. re-reading my reply, i see how it fell flat, in the humor dept.

wonder how they figure a freight bill.that is crazy.

I suppose I could throw in your "I love it when bad things happen to stupid people" comment...
But I won't - since now you're seeing the results of the bureaucratic nightmare called the USPS and how frustrating those phone calls (which seems to do nothing) can be..
I truly hope your firearm reaches the proper destination in the same pristine condition as when it was shipped.. Fingers crossed for that outcome..

That one was outbound...I've got another one that will make it though.
Somebody post the Bricktop pic.
Should be in Memphis today. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Have you been able to talk to anyone today (Monday)?
Had the Post Office been shipping Bin Laden, we'd still be looking for him.
Should we start a pool?

Thats just mean......
Local Postmaster just called. He has been GREAT to work with.
It arrived in Memphis at 2pm today, he called and talked to someone and asked them to get the box and physically put it in the bin for his mail. She said, 'but there could be 1000 packages.'
He told her it's going to have to be done at some point so today is as good a day as any. She found it, placed a piece of tape over the FROM address (so the TO address is the only one visible) and put it in the bin for the local post office.
So it SHOULD be delivered tomorrow.
It had sorted to go back to Springfield, MA again.
Oh sh*t. Set to go Back again? LOL.
That same tard is batting .1000
Goobermint dumbasses.

Fantastic!
Now I can get on with my life.

All done by machine. For whatever reason it was always reading the FROM line on the Memphis machine.
Glad for the human intervention.
Can't wait to see it!
Mike
Thing kept on tryin to return to it's birth place. Bad mojo. Gonna have to kill something real quick with it to break the spell.
Glad for the human intervention.
Can't wait to see it!
Mike
You've never seen a 'Red Ryder'?
All this trouble over a BB gun!!!
That is a BB gun you've been waiting on, isn't it Steelhead?
Dang... maybe this is Obama's new executive actions?
Permanent rerouting of all firearms shipped through the USPS?
Steelie, naturally, was the test case.

I saw the grips he had. Waiting on it already didn't look like red Ryder to me😀

They picked the wrong MF'er to try it on.
My new purchase finally showed up 5 days late. Left on my doorstep. I was supposed to have to sign for it, but oh well.
My local USPS made me ship a shotgun registered mail, took twice as long then had no signature of anyone signing for it.

I'm not sure what the difference in registered and certified mail is, but the lady at the post office said I had a choice...
1) just a notification from the PO that stated the pkg/letter had been delivered, or
2) a receipt put in my PO box, showing who signed for the pkg/letter. This receipt has the date and time on it also.
I'm not sure which is which, but there is a difference.
They told me registered went driver to driver through post offices with everyone signing along the way and would be signature required it got there but no name on the card I got back.
They didn't want to even ship it because they don't know there own rules and finally they saw in their rules where the postmaster could require registered and since it would cost three times more they of course required it, I had already burned my whole lunch hour and told the purchaser it would ship that day so sucked it up and paid it.
Now I know I can drive 15 miles away to a less urban, (get it?) post office and they can read and comprehend their rules and couldn't care less that it's a gun and are great to deal with.
Mike
Mike
Well there is one thing you don't have to worry on...
no one made any profit on shipping your stuff...

only real difference is cost...
one you can get a return receipt on, and the other ya can't...
Is your wife still on that bus?
The seller who sold me my item told me the USPS has been crazy of late. He wasn't sure if it was weather related, or what. He shipped a $2500 Luger, and it went missing. He filed a missing gun report with the BATF, and suddenly it was delivered.
But my local PO has done several flaky things. More than once I have checking tracking and the website says, "Delivery attempted, notice left" when there was no notice. I go to the PO and magically it appears.
Well the local Postmaster came through (he's actually not my postmaster, he's 2 towns over but that is where the FFL is).
When it arrived there today he personally delivered it to the FFL at 830am.
When I walked in they said 'Gee Scott, you must be really important'

Just really PO'd.
What an ordeal.
I hope it arrived in good condition. As many trips as that firearm made across country, it had plenty of opportunities to get damaged.
Perfect.
The grips I added
Sweet!!!
I've got one just like it in 6". I replaced the wood grips with Pachmayr though. The wood bites...
Worth the wait! A beauty.
Congrats

The main one here is full of temp workers. They don't know and they don't care. I suspect about 95% of them voted for Obama, as it would hold with the trend.
Same situation here. A lot of 'em don't really GAF. Mostly foreigners, these days. If you asked 'em what the Pony Express was, they'd probably ask if they backed up Pit Bull.
That is beautiful Scott. Looks like it was well worth the wait.
Glad the ordeal is finally over Scott!!
It has been fun watching the trip......
And it is a nice looking rig, nice grips.
