In 1975, Pit Dernitz was eaten alive by a pack of lions. Dernitz left his vehicle to film a small pride of lions, when an unseen lion comes up from behind him. He attempts to fend off the lion, but is unsuccessful and then the rest of the pride joins in on the attack. This unfortunately led to his death as he was eaten alive, right in front of his family.

was the guy's name Cecil?

Lions never act like that on Disney movies? I bet this video was fake......
I'm surprised at how long it took for anyone to think to use a vehicle to chase the lions off.

Jim
Fake.
Seems about as legit as my resume.

Panic can block off the higher brain functions, but yes, driving directly over the victim right away would likely have saved him. Too bad no one could think of that at the time.

Walmart accepts a resume?
I don't know.

I'm not allowed in the store here.

A thought that I kept having while watching was the coldness of the movie cameraman in continuing to focus on the great scoop he was getting rather than putting the camera down and considering ways to help.
Too bad. You would look good in a red vest with a bunch of buttons......

Turning away from the feast to catch a shot of the crying baby on safari would be a good start.

That occurred to me while watching, but figured it could also be explained as an accidental shot while taking the camera from his eye in the exigency of the moment.

That's what I thought. The camera is catching too many angles for this to be real.

You have just been lucky, Doc.

He is still posting. Testing the waters as he does every so often...
Guess I'm just gettin' good at ignorin' the lying sonofabitch...
So, is it real or fake. Does anyone know for sure?

Seriously?

for starters, could you see one single spot of blood anywhere? especially on the lions mouths,

cars parked for filming so conveniently,

a camera man who films so many different subjects while ignoring the screams of a man being ripped apart,

The man whose being ripped apart wiggles around like it's just another day,

the before and during shot of the baby, why?

I could go on and on.....
