I'm looking at a UTV but need to stay with a 50 inch width due to the area I like to hunt. The two main models are the Honda Pioneer 500 and the Artic Cat 700 Wildcat Trail. I am leaning towards the Honda but I have heard it is pretty underpowered.

Does anyone have one of these two models. I would be interested in your opinion.

Polaris RzR is pretty narrow. do they make your 50" width?

honda pioneer is very top heavy and gear shifter sucks. slow and under powered. i have 2 friends that bought them. i wouldn't own one.polaris rzr is the way to go for trail riding. only drawback is lack of storage. rear bed is very small on the rzr.

Find a good used Yamaha Rhino.

2007 Yamaha Rhino with zero problems.

Buy a chain saw and toss it in the back of whatever you buy..

I also have a 2007 rhino and can get through the 50" barriers barely but officially,here atleast,it is illegal because officially the rhino is 52" wide.

Rhino or other 50"+ machine past...BLM does the same thing....

Along with some trails just not cut or bladed wide enough for a SxS

machine to use...sure the Razr is under 50"...until you put after

market tires & wheel on......then you might as well have a Rhino or

other SxS 54"+ with more storage & ground clearance...Rhino's..

I own a Polaris RZR, 50" width, which my wife, dog, and I really like. We ride trails here in CO, and a number of them have the gates restricting access to 50".

My RZR has plenty of power with it's 800 engine, and gets great fuel mileage. Last year, we did a 76 mile, 4 mountain passes tour, on a little more than a half tank of gas, most of the trip in low range over very rocky trails.

My dog loves going with us- I put a foam pad in the back to keep it from getting too hot, and she is very comfortable with it.

I have added a winch, half windshield, rear roll cage with spare tire mount, and a storage box for the rear cargo area for when the dog is not along.

Don't know anything about the Honda or the Arctic Cats, but would highly recommend the Polaris, based upon my experience with two of them.

Only real issue I have with my rzr is it's too noisy.

I was afraid the Honda Pioneer was underpowered, why they would put a 500 cc ATV motor in it is beyond me, unless they were going for "slowest in class".

The Polaris RZR 900 are nice, the drawback is that they START at $16,000, yikes. The Honda is under $10,000 and the Artic Cat is about $12,000, granted the Honda is a 500cc.

I have been watching the used ads for a lightly used UTV but there isn't much on the UTV used market.

The Rhino stopped being produced in 2013, haven't seen a good used one yet.

I have a 570 Polaris Rzr that is 50 inch and I love it. Hauled out a quartered bull elk and another trip a whole Muley buck. Polaris has 50 inch wide models as do the other manufacturers. You will get the Polaris lovers, the Honda lovers, the Kawasaki lovers, and the artic cat lovers voicing their opinions. Good luck on your choice.

Same reason i bought my little mule 610, i have to go thru 2 miles thru some huge tangles of trees to get to where my wife hunts yall wwould laugh at my little underpowered mule 610 that has a whopping 400 cc engine in it, but it will crawl thru anything in low gear. Its top speed is a terrifying blazing 25 mph, Of course i bought it new on sale for 6500.00 at a local dealer. If i want to go fast i will get in my dads rattle bucket ranger, but the ranger does ride smooth.

even in Utah.........sometimes you need 50 mph on a SxS...

like out running the BLM cops........
