He asked if Grandma was fine, and then said he had a problem. Said he had been in a car accident in Yuma and was in the hospital without funds.

I was sorely tempted to ask if his he was still the same goat-humping asswipe that owed me money for bail, but instead just asked him if he really thought I was going to fall for that silly scam.

I never heard my grandson call me such names - and in a Spanish accent, yet. Especially since my grandson is ten years old, I mean.

My grandmother got one of those calls from someone pretending to be me. It took 6 months for her to believe it was really me when I would call. I usually got a quick hang up!
My sister got one of these calls on New Year's eve. She asked the caller what was his mother's name. Call ended with "uummm...click".

When one receives these calls you need to have some snappy comebacks ready.

Grandma was in a car accident?
Was she driving drunk again? Did she flash her tits at the cops like last time?

The grandson is the one that needs money?
What happened to all the money you made making gay porno films?
What did you do with all the cash you made in tips from the strip club you worked at?

These are some of my favorite kinds of phone calls. I find it a high form of entertainment to string those guys along, give them false information about bank routing numbers and accounts and addresses and credit card numbers. The guys that call because my computer sent them an urgent message about a registry error are even more fun. I can get a good 30 - 45 minutes out of them when I'm driving. Best entertainment money can't buy.

I was considering the gambit where I agree to transfer him money as soon as he gives me HIS bank account number.

My Daughter had one while we were Turkey hunting a couple of years ago. Said my Grandson was in jail in Mexico when we knew he was in Oregon.

I've got you all beat with these scam calls. In the mid 90's we were having Christmas dinner at our house in Vermont, with my MIL, FIL , and BIL. The second BIL was supposed to be there also, but just before we were ready to eat, the 2nd BIL calls and wants to talk with everyone as to why he can't make Christmas dinner! It seems he is already on his way to Florida to a friends house. It seems that he has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer, and he is going to Florida to die. He said all his good byes and put his parents, and two sibling thru hell, one being my wife, on Christmas day. All he asked was if we could find it in our hearts to send money to his friends house in Florida, to his attention, for his last few months on this earth.

Needless to say, it was a very quick dinner, and everyone left, crying and sobbing. I told my wife that if she sent her brother any money, it was against my will. Her brother had been a druggie all his life, and made a living off scamming people, including his parents and brother, more than once. Wife's parent's and brother sent money numerous times, and guess what? He made a miraculous recovery! That was 30 years ago, the parents have long since passed, the good brother passed 5 years ago, and this scumbag lives to this this day on Govt assistance and never worked a day in his life. Ain't America great!

Can you edit that string of numbers? i think that's what messed up this thread's width.

Edited the whole damned thing out. Doesn't make any difference at all on my screen.

My grandmother got the same scam several years back. Considering that I was visiting, it made things a little interesting.

That's nothing compared to the scam the USPS is running.

Should have had that pos come over in person to collect the cash - then give him a .45 to the head instead.. laugh laugh

Same thing happened to my mom - her "grandson" called and said he'd been arrested and needed bail money. Mom told him to suck it up and do the time and hung up..
I called my nephew on his cell to make sure it wasn't him in the slammer, it wasn't..
Scams people play..

Recognize about 90% of the numbers I get calls from. More often than not the other 10% hear "Jim Black, National Security Agency". They either know me and laff, or quickly hang up.

I wish bullets could be sent by phone.
Dan, I use , "City morgue, you kill em' we'll chill em'."

Likely all have heard this, but I deem it a classic:

Gee Rocky - you've got a talented family, with the Spanish accent and all!
