Happened this week on Hwy 6 in Utah...........

lucky guy......for sure........

I watched a D7 CAT, pushing snow, slide off a hillside and do a 70 foot drop.

Fun times.
Saw that on the news. He is lucky he did not hit any vehicles as he went across all the lanes of traffic. Was wild to watch.
Only an idiot would pass an active snow plow on the right.

looked alike a flat bed rig hauling heavy equipment...

he was sited for being a dumb azz for sure......
Stupid ignorant truckie as usual. impossible to get any dumber!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of idiots driving vehicles... The problem is how those moron drivers affect the others around them.
That's a notoriously dangerous highway. Going west, it's all downhill for something like 20 miles. Way too easy to let your speed get away from you; add in ice and it's Whoa Nelly!

The semi driver may not have been able to slow down to avoid the plow.

That looks like the curve that runs past Thistle, the site of the costliest landslide in US history in 1983. Read more about that HERE
At Christmas we went over that pass both ways. It can be very dangerous although both of our trips were on bare roads as we dodged storms. It can be hairy up there when it's icy. Most truckers are good drivers but there are some...
As I implied, the semi driver may not be at complete fault. When he came upon the plow, he may have had only three choices: hit the plow, hit the brakes and jackknife, or try to miss the plow.

Or he should have been driving for the conditions prior to running into the snow plow......tough to say, but Utah drivers are among the worst - those people go 5-10 over no matter what the conditions are.
You may not know that road as well as I do. A semi would risk jackknifing if he got hard on the brakes when it's icy and downhill. That stretch is ALL icy and downhill. With curves.

They used to call it Basic Rule, or driving too fast for the conditions. You must always drive at a speed that will allow you to stop for hazards, etc. The plow didn't suddenly appear. This trucker was driving too fast to slow down for the plow. He was driving too fast for how slick the road was.

That was my immediate thought as well. If so, it's just south of the turnoff for Diamond Fork Canyon.

It's the most dangerous highway in the state. Not a good place to be driving in bad weather.

You can see in the video how fast that truck was going and how quickly the plow bounced off--that truck was running at a pretty good clip. Waaay too fast.

Casey
Well, I'll say it one last time: it may not have been his choice how fast he was going.
Where did this term Truckie come from?????I hate it!!!!!!I have been driving a truck for 20 years and have never heard it until some Hick from MO started using it...We are called Truck Drivers or Commercial Driver...

Repeating it still won't make it true.

If he couldn't stop in time it's because he was going too fast for conditions.

It's a misspelling. It actually refers to Truckee, an area above Lake Tahoe.... Truckee Meadows, Truckee River, etc.

Only an idiot would try to pass an active snow plow at all.
Which other old-timers remember when the truckers were the most courteous drivers on the road?

They've been the biggest a-holes for over 30 years, around here!

And I'm sure many are not - BUT - it seems the drivers for the biggest companies are the worst, while the independent truckers are very careful. (I guess "skin in the game" counts)

No, it's just Alpine Creek being his usual gay self.
No most are called idiots or pi$$heads!!!!!!!! I am sure if that poor plow driver would have been killed his widow and kids could think of more names!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not defending the truck driver but calling one a truckie is gay as fuuck.
If you watch carefully, when the idiot was passing {0 sec.} He was in the far right lane. As he passed the plow he drifted to the left. Probably giving the finger to the plow. Then swerved back to the right after he ran him off the road at to fast of speed. He either did it on propose, {I think so} or...
Been on the receiving end of idiots with drivers license's. Plowed for 37 years, Seen a lot.
haven't been on that stretch of road in bad weather, but went thru there several times this past summer and fall...

and I have to tell ya.... some of the truckers on that stretch of road were just insane... its an old US route that has sorta been kinda made into 4 lanes or so thru a lot of it....

traveling in both directions, east and west this summer, I had trucks with Utah plates loaded down and some pulling doubles, pass me on that road running 85 and 90 mph....

and that is being based on me running it at about 70 to 75 in spots....

its one of those stretch of roads that Truckers just seem to think they own the darn thing....

it ain't a safe stretch of highway at all....
Meaning taken as intended!!!!!!!!!!!
Winter driving can be an Olympic sport. This video is a favorite.
