So what's the gun that just makes you go weak in the knees every time you see one, or makes you instinctively reach for your wallet?
For me it's classic pump action Winchester .22's. (Model's 1890, 1906, 62A, & 610)
Of that list, the only I don't have is the 1906. My very first .22LR was an 1890 in .22 Short. My next purchase was a nearly mint condition model 61 (hammerless pump action). Then I found a 62A that was a former shooting gallery gun from the 1920's & 30's. Mine has the logo of the shooting gallery company engraved in the stock, the company was called "5 Spot".
Lastly, I picked up a mint condition, made in the 1970's Rossi 62A which is a direct copy of the Winchester 62A. And I must say, it's a VERY nice copy and a first rate .22lr in every way.
Every one of them is wickedly accurate, fast action, and just a TON OF FUN to shoot. And further icing on the cake, they're all takedown guns also.
I'm also a sucker for Winchester 94's.
Winchester Model 12 shotguns.
Ruger 77 MKII's with barrel sights and Savage 1907 pistols.
Fireball, ur a fur ball. Lol
I love Savages too. But the 1895 Winchester does it for me too, as does the 1903a1.
Weatherby Mark V six lug.
None really, but I know what works.
Remington 40-x's, 40-xb's and used Remington 700's from the Custom Shop.
Colt 1911
Winchester 1873's,1886's,1890/wrf,1895/30-06,and 1894's any flavor.
Ruger sp101's, and Blackhawks in 41 or 45
Savage's of any flavor, but especially 99's
and last but not least, remington model 8/81's
Colt 22s
Those that come with a personal history that I can share with my friends that appreciate the same. GW
Nice old lever action Marlins and Winchesters
Commercial Mauser 98 and Mauser 98 inspired (Husqvarna, Brno, etc) rifles are always a weakness for me. That stupid Simpson LTD website could drive me into insolvency.
Levers, 1911's, and Super Redhawks.
But I'll be honest they all turn me on.....I'm kind of a gun slut.
Ruger #1 RSI single shot rifles and almost all Mannlicher stock rifles.
For me it's a Kimber rifle. Here's mine;

Lever guns
Winchester Featherweights
Old side by side shotguns
GuGeek: My all time favorite guns for shooting and collecting are heavy barrel Varmint Rifles made by several companies including Remington (40X's, XR-100's and 700's), pre-64 Winchester Model 70's, Sakos of all genres, Ruger, Kimber and some others including customs.
My all time favorite guns to collect are pre-64 Winchesters with a heavy emphasis on Model 70's.
In fact I am just paying off this week another collector/shooter Remington 700 VSSF in caliber 220 Swift.
I have a high power scope to strap to it and test it out next week - if it shoots well I will keep it. If it doesn't shoot well I will sell it for a profit.
One of my good gun trading and Varmint Hunting buddies just LOVES Winchester Model 61's - at last count he had over 65 of them!
Not counting his other Winchester and Remington pumps of many and various models.
He's got IT bad!
Hold into the wind

I guess there's 3, for me.
My first, a Remington 581 .22 LR.
My H&R .222 built on a Sako L461 action.
My Savage 99 .300 savage.
Poor Bubba'd up Mauser 98s. Every time I see one, I just think "so much potential, shouldn't cost too much to get it back to respectable..."
Guess I've got a soft spot for the mistreated.
Every one of them is wickedly accurate, fast action, and just a TON OF FUN to shoot.
if it shoots well I will keep it...
There it is, the reason we get hooked on some and not others.
I am with Fireball.
I really like Savage 99s. Just when I think I am done, it goes further.
I use them quite often in the field as well. I have taken quite a bit of game with them.
Model 12s, Auto5s, pre-64 fwts.
With me it is 348's. Any make or model would do. Prices have gotten a little high so 1911's and Pre safety Marlins of any flavor fill the needs now. The 1911's because of the value offered in such well built pistols, off the shelf, at such reasonable costs. I like the Marlins because of the inherent shoot ability of such reasonably well built hunting rifles. I also like the fact that so many people have these guns and don't appreciate them because they don't have plastic stocks, huge capacity magazines, or batteries somewhere. Makes scratching the itch easier.
Your Remington in .25-20 is the cat's azzz!!!
Of that list, the only I don't have is the 1906.
You really need to get serious about obtaining a 1906.
Model 12s, Auto5s, pre-64 fwts.
3 of my favorites as well.
The Auto 5 is the design that JMB was most proud of. And it was a massive technological achievement...why?
Because there were no standards on shotgun ammunition when he designed the Auto 5.
12ga could be had in...
2", 2 1/2", 2 5/8", 2 9/16", 2 3/4".
High base, low base, mid base...
Hi Brass, Low brass, Mid Brass
Black powder, Shultz powder, smokeless powder
He wanted a gun that would function any and all, because in 1898 you never knew what would be available at the locla hardware store.
And he did it, it will actually function any and all variations of shell. Simply amazing!!
WOW, that's in fantastic shape!!
Of that list, the only I don't have is the 1906.
You really need to get serious about obtaining a 1906.
Agreed!!! I'll get one at some point.
I also want the Taurus made 62A. Taurus bought Rossi, and brought CNC machines to Rossi. Following that, the very well made Rossi 62A got REALLY good under the Taurus brand, and those are really high quality, very smooth 62A copies...so I gotta have one.
CZ ...
My latest fun gun is the Ruger 77/44. Just put a Redfield Revolution 2-7x32 with the accu-range reticle on top and it's a PERFECT fit for this rifle.....
Poor Bubba'd up Mauser 98s. Every time I see one, I just think "so much potential, shouldn't cost too much to get it back to respectable..."
Guess I've got a soft spot for the mistreated.
I feel your pain. I have the same one.
12ga SxS Sterlingworth shotgun, more than 100 years old, and still in beautiful condition. I hunt with it every year.

Thanks GG. I didnt know that.
I actually feel sorry at times for doves over a waterhole with my 20ga ltwt imp cyl.
You must be some kind of gun geek.
Ps. I forgot the Win 63 22 for squirrels.
Ruger No.1B's with really nice wood!!!
I have two custom Arisaka Type 38 carbines in 6.5X50MM caliber, and I have my eye on a third one....
I love Swedish Mausers. The most beautiful, and accurate, military rifle ever made. I have 4 of 'em.
And lots of battle packs of 200 rounds of Swede milsurp ammo.
Match grade and, astonishing for milsurp, non corrosive.
Colt 1911 Gold Cup in 38 Super and 45 ACP.
Colt Light Rifles.
Husqvarnas with mannlicher style stocks.
Marlin 336SCs.

The Savage 1920 and 24 series.
K and N-frame Smith & Wesson revolvers.
S&W 2206s.

Too funny...
I have a Bubba'd up Czech Vz-24 right now that I'm going to set right. The action is in great shape. Someone installed a .30-06 barrel that was taken off of some commercial Mauser. It looks like crap, Headspace isn't even close to being right and a good Vz-24 action really just deserves better.
CZ ...
If I could only buy one brand of firearm, it would be CZ. Not necessarily the best in every category, but in every category they have VERY strong guns wearing their name.
I'm REALLY interested in the new 5.56 BREN rifle, and the P-10 pistol seems rather promising. Of course the CZ-75 is just outstanding; I have a Pre-B model and it's just a joy to shoot.
OMG, what a magnificent addiction! Drillings and combination guns...AKA, European Farmer's Gun's. Man, you and I need to go shooting some day!!!
To me, the epitome of the modern sporting rifle is the rifleman's rifle, the M70. The epitome of the M70, or its variants is the Dakota 76. I am overdue for another.
Hard to believe something that shoots that fun has killed so many.
Almost shoots like Ruger 10/22
Winchester Model 12s or old 870 Wingmasters
A5s and Mausers, but especially falling block single shots.
Old Remington 22's
Levers, and single action revolvers.
Hard to believe something that shoots that fun has killed so many.
Almost shoots like Ruger 10/22
My dad loved his while in the South Pacific and managed to "acquire" an M2 after an all night poker game in 1945.
Mannlicher Schoenauer:
K frame (S&W) .22 model 17 (and pre 17's)
Ruger No 1!
Man, that is pretty, have to get me one of those.
+1
Rates a two-cool
My CZ 550FS 9.3X62: shoots great, looks good, not too heavy for cartridge, good field handling;
Husqvarna rifles 1600 (HVA) and 1900(FFV)
S&W PC 5" 627 eightshot & 638 airweight snubby, these two keep me addicted to revolvers - I have nothing against autos especially 1911's and Browning High Powers
Remington 1100 12 ga, it just works for me
Savage 23 25-20
Anschutz 54 Sporter .22LR for obvious reasons
Tw0 AR 223's: RR 20" predator pursuit and a generic 16" carbine: the RR averages <1" with good ammo and the carbine does nearly as well
I've always had a soft spot for a model 21.
I've always had a soft spot for a model 21.
Nice collection of 21s
Winchester Model 12s or old 870 Wingmasters
It's hard to beat a slick, worn in Wingmaster.
Mine used to be the military Mausers, especially the Swedish and the Argentine Mausers. I really went for the calvary carbine 1891 and 1909 Argentine. Had some nice ones, then for some reason just sold them and don't have a single Mauser today. If anything would make me weak kneed today, it would be a 1873-1894 Winchester lever gun, especially one in a rare caliber.
Rolling block .22.
My latest fun gun is the Ruger 77/44. Just put a Redfield Revolution 2-7x32 with the accu-range reticle on top and it's a PERFECT fit for this rifle.....
Not to get off the subject, but I was wondering how you liked the quality of that scope? I just ordered one with a 4-plex reticle for a .223 Mini-Mauser that'll be used as a truck gun for wolves and caribou within 200yrds.
Remington pumps and Model 70 Featherweights.
mostly bolt action rifles, remington, savage, tikka. old remingtons are better. i like the 788.
When all else fails...
My Nickle series 70

and most things in 22 Hornet (just for fun)
Hank
Mauser 98's,Winchester M 70's and Weatherby Mark V's.
WOW, that's in fantastic shape!!
Gal here in TX somewhere posted a similar photo.... wild housecat dead.... lost her vets license over it I believe.
The world is NUTS.
I kind of like old Winchesters, but don't care much for the look of the magazine tube under the barrel.
From the top: 30/40, 45/70, 30/30, 25/20.
None really, but I know what works.
this!

GG, are your serious? Talking about favorite guns (too many)on this site? Are you sure you are on the right site?
What's next? Talking about hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, reloading, et cetera?
Asking my about favorite guns is like asking me about women I cannot afford; only guns do not cause trouble.
NH M70 SGs with exceptional wood... (drool)
I have Marlinitus...here's a few......
top....'73 Octagon 44 mag

I actually feel sorry at times for doves over a waterhole with my 20ga ltwt imp cyl.
I have a 20bore Remington Model 11 with 26" barrel and interchangable chokes. But I find I don't shoot 26" shotguns nearly as well as a 28-30". What I'd give for a 28" 20bore barrel for my Model 11.
But a 20ga LW Browning is one of my dream guns, just gotta find one in a 28" VR barrel.
Man, that is pretty, have to get me one of those.
Man I was thinking the same thing!!! That is a magnificent rifle.
Ruger # 1
1022's
Mannlicher stocked rifles.
Rifles chambered in 30-30
I have a Ruger #1, Savage 219, Marlin 336a & 336sc, Savage 340

Don't ask me why, but the Remington 51X Series of .22 just trip my trigger - no pun intended.
I've always had a soft spot for a model 21.

So, you're a two Martini man?
Contenders. I have killed more deer with a Contender handgun than any other gun I've owned. Lately I have really enjoyed customizing old military mausers. The only problem is too many oldtimers break into tears when they see one I've bubbaized.

So, you're a two Martini man?
lol,...sometimes
Here's a family photo of my pump action Winchester .22's. The photos in my original post were just photos I found on the web because I didn't have any of mine conveniently uploaded yet.

Top to bottom:
Winchester 1890, .22 Short
Winchester 62A, this is the "5 Spot" shooting gallery gun.
Winchester 61, this is "my" .22 (everyone in the house has a personal .22 rifle).
Rossi 62A - Made in the '70's. This is my youngest son's personal rifle; he loves it.

I've been called much worse!!
Love the Martini's Bristoe; they are just way too much fun.
So what's the gun that just makes you go weak in the knees every time you see one, or makes you instinctively reach for your wallet?
For me it's classic pump action Winchester .22's. (Model's 1890, 1906, 62A, & 610)

Okay, I've had some time to sort this out. The answer is "accurate". I'm hooked on accurate guns.
I've always had a soft spot for a model 21.
DAMN!
Yeah Damn!
The Winchester 21 is unique. I think it's one of the least attractive actions ever built for a double gun. At the same time, it's an action that is brute string and will outlive our great grand-kids and their offspring.
Despite it's blocky unattractive action, Winchester has made some stunning examples. And that blocky, unattractive action is made with extreme quality and durability... I dare you to try to kill one.
It really is an American classic, and a first rate double gun.
99's are just off the charts cool. I could be a very content man with a .250 & .358 Savage 99.
However. There's something about them that makes them not shoulder well for me; they just don't fit my strangely proportioned frame. But if I ever got a .250 & .358 I'd make them fit; they're just too darned cool
Congrats on the .358, that's a heck of a find my friend.
Okay, I've had some time to sort this out. The answer is "accurate". I'm hooked on accurate guns.
Oh, Winchester M70's....
Swedish Mausers in 9.3x57.
They really are fine handling rifles. Almost shotgun like.
It used to be 1899's/99's
Now it is Fox shotguns.
The hard part is to not sell any after your lust cools a little. That is how you build a red neck 401K!
Model 70's Kleinguenther K-15's Sako's
I like rifles with levers, handguns with cylinders, and shotguns with two barrels.
I like accurate guns!! I love my Tikka's.
But my favorite is Ruger NO. 1's - but most take work to make them accurate, still like'em though.
I'm right handed but left eye dominant. From the time I got my first BB gun it's always seemed natural to pull a rifle up to my left shoulder. For a while, I could shoot off of either shoulder, but the left one eventually won out. Now, my entire shooting posture is dedicated to my left shoulder.
Consequently, I took up with lever rifles. I accumulated a few and still have them all. The Savage 99 in .243 is by far the best of the bunch for all practical purposes. In terms of accuracy, it shoots like a bolt rifle. But from just an emotional standpoint, my very nice old Sears Model 100 with the Lyman sights (Winchester Model 94) is my favorite of the bunch. It appeals to my minimalist nature. It weighs about 6.5 lbs and can deliver a 150 grain bullet at better than 2400 fps with a bit of judicious hand loading. Basically, it's a BB gun weight rifle that can kill a bear.
It used to be 1899's/99's
Now it is Fox shotguns.
The hard part is to not sell any after your lust cools a little. That is how you build a red neck 401K!
It's good to see you matured and moved on to fine scatter guns.
Colt DA revolvers who were once owned by men who are long since dead are also fun to own.
The Police Positive is 97 years old and the New Police is 112 years old.
The man who owned the 112 year old Colt New Police was obviously an advocate of being heeled. I got his pocket holster with it and it's obvious that he toted it on a regular basis for quite some time. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn that it had tagged a man or two. It dates to the "troubles" in Eastern Kentucky which occurred during the early part of the 20th century,..and a man could definitely get his ass shot over there back then if he didn't act right.
Original Winchester Model 1892's and 1890 series .22's, Model 12's, 20 gauge Ithaca 37 solid rib shotguns, and K-22's for starters ...
Obsolete rimfires
Transitional Pre-64's and double rifles.
Now it is Fox shotguns.

Beautiful Foxes!
Insane, but in a good way!
So, you're the one that got them all. That is kind of what I had Heaven pictured like.
WOW!!! There certainly is some "goodies" in that room.
One hell of a collection there buddy. Well done.
1876 Winchesters
Nice 1911's
Top Shelf Custom '98's
MM
Of that list, the only I don't have is the 1906.
You really need to get serious about obtaining a 1906.
That's a really beautiful picture.
I dont know about winning,a lot of them are just examples of guns, not the best condition on some of them. A lot of very fine firearms have been posted here.Took a lot of Logs ,and lots of gravel ,and many years to "accumulate" the assortment !
[quote=Loggah]Mostly levers,but a little of everything !!
That's an incredible gun room! Would love to shoot every lever-action on that wall.....what a piece of history you have there!!
Ruger No.1's and No.3's with heavy varmint barrels chambered for 30-30 cases necked down to .204 and .224. The No.3 on the left has been rebarreled to .22/38-55 since this pic.

Obsolete rimfires
Rifle on the bottom looks like the HM Quackenbush rifle I have.
I slayed many a buffalo with one of those as a kid.
Obsolete rimfires
Some VERY cool guns there!
I slayed many a buffalo with one of those as a kid.
as intended
i have a few that are hard to resist.
old remington pump carbines. the models 14R and 141R. they are the slickest guns i know. they were fairly common at LGS's here in PA years ago when the oldtimers started dying off and their kids didn't want them. i started buying them when they were much cheaper and now they are out of my price range.
i also have a thing for the davidson limited edition marlin stubbys like the 336D, 336 SDT, SS LTD and others. these too have went through the roof.
the classic s&w revolvers are also hard to resist. i occasionally stumble upon some nice older ones. just picked up a 66-2 2.5" that is slick as a whistle. the triggers on the older smiths are a thing of beauty. my brother is a ruger man and says he is glad he never got hooked on the s&w's cause he would be broke.
i have a lot of all of the above so it takes an exceptional deal to get me to pull out my wallet anymore. i contemplate selling off a bunch of other less used guns to fund a bunch more s&w's though. you can fit a lot of those into a gun safe.
Hell a lot of guns, how many do we have in the USA??
That is an art gallery
congratulations on years of collecting
Hank
A5's and falling block single shots.
Especially 1885's.
Never part with my A5's.
Walther Polizeipistole series (PP, PPK, PPK/S). Prettiest handguns of all time in my opinion.
#1's and Sharps. But I have no photos of them
Ruger No.1's and No.3's with heavy varmint barrels chambered for 30-30 cases necked down to .204 and .224. The No.3 on the left has been rebarreled to .22/38-55 since this pic.
Dave
that one second from the right looks like a riedel to me.
Mausers! I am currently questing for a nice 3000L in 7MM
Older 870's. Man, I love these old corn shuckers.
Savage Model 99's. Quite simply the best lever gun every built, although more than one 94 and a bunch of 336's have darkened my cabinets from time to time. I even stooped so low as to buy an 88. It had some pretty big shoes to fill and didn't stay around long.
Hell a lot of guns, how many do we have in the USA??
I've got one if I can find it.
Poor Bubba'd up Mauser 98s. Every time I see one, I just think "so much potential, shouldn't cost too much to get it back to respectable..."
Guess I've got a soft spot for the mistreated.
I feel your pain. I have the same one.
Vz-24, that's my favorite 98. Right now I've got 5 98's:
a scrubbed Century Arms 30-06 that I bedded into a NOS Fajen stock(on long term loan to a buddy):
, my baby Vz-24 with a new stock and barrel:
. A Gew.98(DWM) and a (I think, was a train wreck of mismatched parts when I got it) BRNO 98/22 that I am using to build a matched pair of 270's for my boys, and a 1915 Danzing Gew.98 that I "rescued" from a used rack back in November(got a great looking bore, already bubba'ed, going to build a "throw back" 8x57 sporter as long as it shoots).
If you go back to 8x57, Numrich as new production(ER Shaw I think) stepped barrels for a good price. Your Vz-24 will thank you for it.
Always liked Lugers; wish I had a few more. This one is a Swiss 1906 in 7.65mm.
Bob
Ruger #1's and #3's
Ithaca 37's
Win 1897's
Anything with 32-20 on the barrel!
A properly executed M700 is pretty bitchin'.
Some rifles have some real electricity in the hands... old Winchester and Marlin lever guns do that for me.
Handguns are utility tools in my book. Glocks seem to hit where I naturally point them, are cheap, are good quality. While the 1911's and revolvers I've owned have been "superior" handguns.............. I mostly own Glocks now.
Of course, AR's are a given.
Loggah, very nice collection.
My wife is now of the opinion that I have not lost my mind after all.
Thanks!
DD
I don't have one at present, but love an 1892 Winchester in .38/40 or .44/40.
I don't collect any one type in any quantity but there are some models I really appreciate. If I'm walking past they warrant a second look.
Smith and Wesson K/L/N frames.
Smith and Wesson Model 41.
Kimber 84 Bolt Actions.
Ruger #1s.
Browning SxS and O/U Shotguns. (My dad hunted with a BSS)
Winchester Model 70's (even the push feeds)
Winchester M12s.
Savage 99s(don't own one but will change that in the near future)
