Tad off topic but -have you ever listened and mentally sang a song THINKING you knew the words ?
I could have been locked up and told I'd get out when I knew the words --and likely died locked up .
It was a song when I was in school though .

Music hadn't been invented yet when I was in high school.
All of the above, all great late 60s hits. I'd add Incense and Peppermints-Strawberry Alarm Clock

I listened to ZZ Top, The Hollies, CCR, Eric Clapton and Johnny Cash too so I was all over the place AC/DC Back in Black owned it though in high school. Heads and the Rednecks played that all the time. Boston was pretty high on our list too. I graduated in 84 as you guys can tell.
AC/DC Back in Black. Class of '82.
Oh man.... there are soooo many great hits in my HS years.
Probably my fav is AC/DC Back in Black - those first guitar notes are notable by millions of people around the world!

You are correct, in my opinion
Early/mid 60s, through most of the 70s was it.
You had to have been there to appreciate it.

Amazing picking going on here.

Highway to Hell, anything by Boston, and from the county side of things, Alabama were my favorites.
I've tried to banish the memories of those miserable years from my life. Hated high school. And all that went with it.

Love In The First Degree by Alabama. A starlit night, down by the lake, with my girlfriend. The submarine races never ended till dawn.
VIDEO
Always liked David Gates & Bread.
Of course any red blooded male from the '70s remembers Stevie Nicks and Olivia Newton John.
But I preferred to listen to Foghat, REO Speedwagon, Deep Purple, Doobies, and The Eagles.
A couple of hits which stand out in my mind are one from a little one hit wonder band called Sugarloaf: "Green Eyed Lady"
VIDEO
And while Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" was pretty good, I preferred "Born to be Wild".
VIDEO
For my "Senior Trip" I wasn't born no Senators Son, so off I went for 2 tours.....
