Whether you liked him / his music ... he definitely inspired a lot of musicians (who made a hell of a lot more money than he ever did). He made it to 90 .... not a bad ride!
Grew up on Chuck Berry,Little Richard,Elvis,Fats Domino,Bill Haley and the Comets,Jerry Lee Lewis.Saw them all in person.Nothin better than a 56 Chevy2door hardtop with a injected 327 ,4 speed,AM,FM radio with reverb and a case of beer!!!

i always thought schiltz was good to go. in a pinch, PBR (cool blue) would do too.
cooks special export in a pinch. bet there ain't a soul on here ever heard of that one?
A close relative's dad worked as a guard for a while at the prison in Springfield, MO, back when Chuck Berry was incarcerated there. Said his memory of him is he was generally a likeable character. Popular with other prisoners and not a problem for the guards. Interestingly also said Berry performed outside the prison walls at 'private gatherings and parties' for unknown 'special' guests occasionally during his time there. ------------------
(As an aside The Birdman of Alcatraz was there at the same prison around the same time too. Said unlike Chuck Berry the real Birdman was no where near like the person portrayed by Burt Lancaster in the movie about him. His recollection of the Birdman was as a creepy, obnoxious, disgusting, trouble instigating, total paranoid nut case. Shaved every hair off of his body head to toe and went naked all he could get away with.)
And thank god for DeLoreans and flux capacitors....
His cousin Marvin was a pretty nice guy, too...
I saw Chuck in concert four times which is the most I've ever seen a single performer or band. Most of those times he was in his 50's or even early 60's. You'd think by then he'd be sick of playing the same stuff for decades but he was still cranking out a lot of energy on stage.
