The other thread about "no pictures in a for sale ad" got me riled up about another pet peeve. Why don't people have their location posted in their profile or put it in the ad? Is it just ignorance on not having it set in the profile section? If it's anything else, that's just stupid and pisses me off. If you think not doing it gives you some sense of privacy, get real with yourself.

I do it to piss people off. It's never not funny.

So people can't figure out who they are for one. Also to hide that some have more than one log in or are on their 3rd or 4th name.

Why at least a STATE would be handy in your profile:

"Need a gunsmith nearby - quick! I've got a hunt next week!!"

....and no location in profile, nor do they bother to reply for four days WHERE THE HELL THEY ARE LOCATED.

I thought it was to keep us canucks from freeloading if we came down there.

For sure ought to have a location if you're trying to sell something. Lots of things that I might be interested in if I knew FTF was a possibility.

If anyone wants to know my location, they can ask me. I've mentioned it several times, but it's not the folks here I want to keep it semi-private. It's the other criminals that prowl the internet that I don't care to disclose everything to.

I knew an itinerant carpenter that did all of his work for cash under the table. He did really great work and know folks all over the country so he was never out of work. Never paid any taxes either. I asked him once if he wasn't skeered the government would track him down about that and he said he knew absolutely he was off the grid since he never received any junk mail of any kind.

I thought about that and figured that was about as sure fire a way as any to know that your whereabouts were officially unknown.

That you live in a city of almost 3/4 of a million people and then proclaim there is no anonymity, is quite funny.

A picture of a rifle with a Green Horse barn with a red roof in the background is likely easy to find in a town of 111.

Conversely, a photo of a rifle with a pool and a pool house with a black shingle roof in a city of 750,000 gets a little harder to pinpoint.

If I post my town, you'd have to post your exact street address for us to be at the same level of anonymity.
