A mountain lion snatched a small dog from a Pescadero bedroom in the early morning hours Monday, after the residents reportedly left their French doors partially open for the dog to go outside, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's office.

The dog, a 15-pound Portuguese Podengo, was at the foot of a bed near the dog's owner and a child when it woke them up around 3 a.m. by "barking aggressively."

The adult witness told authorities she saw the shadow of an animal come into the room through the French doors, grab the dog from the bed, and walk out. When she grabbed a flashlight, she saw "large wet paw prints" near the bedroom's entrance, and called 911.

When police arrived on scene, they discovered paw prints resembling those of a mountain lion, and notified the Department of Fish and Wildlife. SHARE

Now, the San Mateo authorities are advising and reminding local residents to secure their doors and windows before sleeping, and to heed the advice posted on the department's website about avoiding mountain lion

Damn Very scary, could take a small child
i spent thousands of $ fighting prop 117. glad the cats are enjoying my defeat.
They are reaping exactly what they sowed.
If we didn't keep moving into their habitat they wouldn't have to eat us or our pets...

(please note sarcasm font)
Yeah, laughing. The cats here (in town) were gone for 100 years or more, hunters with dogs killed them or chased them out. We pass measure 18, no more use of dogs, so they come back into town, in among people. Yet somehow, now that they are coming into town again, where town has been for 100+ years with no cats, we're moving into their habitat. Hmmm. Really?

A mountain lion showed up in the next county over last year. The police came out and killed it.

A few people tried to make a stink about it and everybody told them to shut up and go away.

That's the last I heard about it.
if i could get away with it i would export a few(or many) Grizzly's to California. after all it is their state Symbol.
just think of a few griz in Burbank or North Hollywood!
of course the Gang Bangers would probably have them as guards in no time.
