I carry.....daily.

When I first went to work as a rural mail carrier in 1984, the Kentucky firearms laws stated that a mal carrier in his line of duty, could go armed. Of course, that was an archaic law, but one still on the books. I took advantage of it, and carried a pistol in my privately owned vehicle when I was on the route. I shot at groundhogs and coyotes, and carried a 357 during deer season, just in case. The Post Office finally came down on guns on postal property several years later, and I quit carrying for the most part. About 2 years before I retired, I was transferred out of my small rural office to one in a much bigger city. We were often out after dark, and had to drive thru the Black part of town to get there. I went back to keeping one in my truck, and figured I was close enough to retirement that I didn't give a crap if I got caught.

Rural is a bit more relaxed than those damned to live in cities.

Still I have something on me at all times regardless. It may be to small IMHO, but better than nothing and may at least be a way out if it ever did.

ALwyas something bigger in the car. And if AR prices stay down, we probably both will have dedicated ARs in the car soon enough that never leave. Just don't have "cheap" enough ones that I want to leave in there now...

I do not shoot at stuff like coyotes and ground hogs off the road way, nor deer, though I have shot an armadillo or two in the driveway on our property coming home, and a fox and a skunk in the pasture when all I had was a front pocket full of 380....

I've carried a Glock 36 every single day for about 15 years. I switched to a G-43 last year just for a smaller platform and a couple more rounds. Things are getting so wild with mobs,I've been considering switching to a G-19 and carrying a couple spare mags. I figure I would be prosecuted just as thoroughly for killing 3-4 as I would be for 20, but I might get a day in court with more firepower available.

Single income, with a sick wife. I pay more in medical than mortgage. Intentional attempting to get fired (And arrested) is not an option. The law here is that that "gun-free" sign means jail time if caught. The act of entering, if prominently displayed, is a crime in itself.

Cooler weather and different clothing, my Combat Commander.

Kid was at stoplight last weekend, and a drive by shooting happened at the intersection.
Told her jokingly that she needs a Ruger 10mm 1911 and return the fun.

I'll let her shoot mine when I get it (told LGS to get one). Proly get a Glock mid size 9mm for her in reality.

Dont leave home without one, usually a P226 40 with two spare mags of 15 rounds each riding in a rear pocket with an AR-10 or 15 in the truck, also carry a 6" Bagwell damascus skinner on my belt too, a Les Baer 45 ACP is less than a foot away as I type, with another AR-15 propped up against the desk at my boots, 31 rounds of 55 gr TSX ready to go.

Same here, either my S&W 431 or Colt Government Model .380.
Posted By: szihn Re: Daily Carry - 08/16/17
Living out where I do I can and do carry what ever I feel like every day, but most times around the home I wear something that is more of a "hunting/outdoorsmans" gun. Large revolvers in 357, 44 or 45 sometimes. Sometimes a Ruger 22 auto, or a full size 45 or 9MM auto. It just what I feel like, on whatever day I choose, unless I have some specific purpose in mind for that day.

However, as much as I love my handguns ,and I do carry every day, I am always within about 10-15 seconds max of a semi-auto rifle, usually a 308, but often it's a 223 or 7.62X39. At night I can grab my rifle as fast or faster then I can get my handgun. The handgun stays on my belt inside my pants, sometimes 4 to 6 feet away, but the rifle is 1 foot from my headboard.

On warm days when I go to town, a rifle will stay in the truck, but if I am going into public buildings and stores I carry a small 45 ACP most times, because it hides easier then my large frame revolvers or full size autos.

In the winter it becomes less of an issue here because it's cold, and the long coats I wear hide anything I want to carry just fine, up to and including a 6.5" 44 mag.

Recently switched from revolver or 1911 to a glock 23 iwb in a crossbreed,2 extra mags and a lot of times a glock 27 on my ankle.

My Springfield A1 was already on my waist and i had forgotten. i have carried a 1911 45 of one flavor or the other daily for close to 50 years. would forget my pants before my weapon.
i am blessed to live where i do. i go into the bank and the teller always checks out my waist for the concealed . always asks what i am carrying. even sold a sp101 to one of the tellers.

An AR-15 resides permantly in my truck. Mainly, mine's used for hogs, coyotes, and culling does at the Ranch.
But it and 15 30 round P-mags and 5 10 round hunting mags that also are in the truck would also work well for any two legged critters, if need be.

It has a 20" heavy match grade barrel and wears a Leupold VXR 4x12 scope with the fire dot reticle and CDS dial set to go all the way out to 700 yards with a turn of the knob. It will shoot 1.5" 5-shot 100 yard groups with the Federal Military 62 grain Green tip ammo, and 5-shot 100 yard 1/2" groups with the Remington Factory Hog Hammer ammo or the Hornady Factory 55 grain V-Max ammo.

No telling how many hogs, coyotes, and does it has accounted for. I lost count long ago.

Living in Arizona its hard to carry concealed because of the heat. I wear tactical pants and shorts 99 % of the time, so its easy to drop my s&w 380 into my front pants pocket and there is no imprinting. I know, the 380 is marginal but beats crying and begging for my life if I didn't carry it. I have tried small 9mm's but most are larger and heaver. They pull my pants down and I have trouble keeping them up anyway.

I hear you on that. I can't wear a belt so it has to be something in my pocket or some kind of clip on type rig, most of which I've tried just were not comfortable. So it's just an S&W M60 .38 Spl. in my pocket with a couple of speed loaders in another pocket. I do have a Walther PPK/s .380 but in this heat sweating means rust so it stays home.

Exact same reason I went with the little Sig P238. It's stainless so no corrosion worries, I carry it in a Galco pocket holster, works perfectly for hot weather wear. Even when wearing jeans, it slips easily into and out of my right front pants pockets. I have a 1911 but it is just too much for me to carry anymore. My Ram truck carries it just fine.

Good choice. I have a 43, 26, 29 and two 19's. The 43 is nice, but lacks round count a bit. I keep going back to the Gen4 19. The Gen5's will be out soon! I'll buy another 19 a year or two after they start surfacing. The 26 might get sold (strongly dislike it and the wife likes the 19's) and the 29 is a woods gun.

Get a good belt and holster. I wear cargo shorts and a t-shirt all summer and have no issues with a compact 9 (not subcompact). Should be no different in AZ. Tactical clothing screams "gun" too by the way.

I have not felt the "need" to carry here in N. Idaho so much, but over the last few years I've changed my mind. I carry a Sig P938 when needing to be discreet, I have a couple other choices when it's colder out, and have double mag pouches for them. Wanting another 9mm compact for my wife. I'd dare say probably 75% of the rigs around here have a rifle in them. Crime is pretty low around here for some reason. Times have sure changed. Used to be a coyote messing with calves was the most likely threat. A bolt rifle seemed most appropriate. I now keep an AR handy, and with spare mags. Won't go into town unarmed. It's a matter of time before tensions boil over.

When my pants go on, my EMP 4 9MM goes in a Milt Sparks summer special holster and goes in my waistband for the rest of the day.

I sleep with an AR15 within reach, and have two spare 30 round mag in my nightstand.

Something, always. But I'm not much of a warrior, just an old country boy. Usually a Buckmark or 22/45 around the place, with at least
a shot or two fired, most days. Got lots of varmints. Leaving home, the .22 is traded for a Colt 1911, in the same Mernickle leather the .22 was in.
Dressing better, the .45 goes IWB. Dressing heavily, which hardly ever happens anymore, often an SP101 in a pocket. On the lawnmower, often
a Lightning .38, 3 1/2", first shell up is snakeshot. Again, Mernickle leather. That Lightning is as easy to carry as anything, and very easy to hit with
at close range. At night, the 1911 is at hand, as is a short 20 gauge pump.

We travel often....Mostly in the inter mountain west.. Here I carry my j frame .357 everyday.. Also full size revolvers mostly .357's or 44's.. Haven't been carrying my AR there, but usually have 2 or 3 rifles in the truck when outdoors..

When we travel to the east to visit, the j frame goes with, also a a kit gun in .22lr.. In rural areas one in each vest pocket makes a nice balance.. But when on the road in populated areas, we usually keep a 19 and 21 close at hand.. Either a 357 or 44 rides in my lap.. The wife has a 357 and a Glock .380.. In the future, given today's environment the AR will probably ride somewhere in the cab.. Other pistols are in a bag behind my seat... We just bought a Glock 42 and 43 for carry.. Equipped the wife's with a laser sight.. With trifocals it makes shooting much easier..

Great information in this treat..

In the summer I mostly carry a Glock 26 in a Mitch Rosen 5JR with 124 grain +P Federal HST's and of course a backup magazine. Around the neighborhood it's more minimal and I often carry a S&W 442 with a speed strip for a reload. During the cooler months it's usually a Glock 19 with 147 grain Federal HST's (same thing the local cops carry). In the mountains I'm usually hiking and larger animals are a possibility so I carry my Glock 36 with Buffalo Bore 230 grain +P truncated cone FMJ's for penetration plus a spare mag of 230 grain Federal HST's for human predators. At home I have AR's with loaded 30 round mags and a Remington Versamax 12 gauge with buckshot and slugs. And of course I always carry a lockback folder, generally a Benchmade.

I carry every day & my go-to, for the most part, has been a Commander sized 1911, but I have gone to a higher capacity gun in the more recent months with at least one extra mag, usually a G-23 or G19.

I used to carry a J-frame as a pocket gun when carrying a belt holstered gun wasn't always convenient................I've stopped carrying the J-frame except as a 2nd gun & have gone to bigger pockets & a G-27 or the G-27 in a Remora holster. That a very concealable rig that keeps a fair amount of firepower available, especially with an extra mag, for anything except long range work.

My wife and I both carry 24/7/365. I feel naked without my pistol. I have had to pull it once in the 25 years I've carried and that was on a big Rottweiler that came charging out of the tall grass where I'd parked. I didn't have to shoot it as much as I wanted to because that dog hit the brakes and did a 180* when it was looking down the barrel of a .45. Funny that even a dumb dog knows when it's over its head. When we travel our pistols go with us along with a copy of that states CCW reciprocity and applicable laws. I minimize our chances of being a victim as much as possible and hope I never have to use it but the way this country is going I'll be surprised if I don't.

Same here Nate......for years my only interest in handguns was a couple of 22's I use for trapping but as crazy as the world's getting I recently picked up a 1911 for home defense and a little S&W Airweight 38 that lives in my Taco. I don't know how much I'll actually carry it but it's nice to have it handy in case I want to slip it into a jacket/pants pocket.
I doubt that I'll ever have an AR but my little Marlin carbine 44mag is always handy.

I just bought my dear, little wife a 1911-22 Compact. She told me she no longer wants to carry the Model 60 as our grandson has found out that Grandma' always has candy or gum in her purse and he doesn't bother to ask for it - he just burrows in and takes it. She wanted an semi-automatic that she could pull the mag out of and render it harmless. She wanted to have a .22 so she could shoot it more...!! I didn't argue (as if that would have changed things) I just ordered it for her. She said that she really likes it because it is a 1911 and it is so easy to operate. I know that it is a mouse gun and it couldn't hurt a flea, etc, etc but she is pretty good with it and it is better than her going without.

My wife had been shopping for a new purse and wound up going to the Coach store at our local outlet. She walked out with 2 nice purses because they had the kind of zippered pocket for her revolver. I'm proud that she'd shop for a purse specifically to carry her handgun and for buying herself something, she never shops for herself. 😁

I waited 8 years to get my concealed carry license, mainly did so due to it being an obtained right. Up to then I was perfectly happy packing my 870 which is legal in Texas "in any manner".

Some high viability sights would be about the only way to significantly improve that as a defensive piece.

Everyone should carry and put the guessing to rest.

And this Georgia businessman needs your help.

I swap back n forth between a khar cw9 a xds 45 and a p238 for during the week don't have my ccw but they ride openly in the console or sit at my desk as far as the home front depending on my chores it's either the cw9 with cast boolits or a 38 snubbie with snake shot

Keep a Glock in the center console of my daily driver. Same concern as above. The crowds seem to be getting larger. Any suggestions or strategies to discretely transport an AR in the cabin of a 4 door sedan?

After reading through this thread I'm convinced not to ever again cross over into the States for a visit.

Why not? All in all, you might be safer here than there.

I carry every day. As someone said, if my pants are on, so is a gun. Things are worse than they were. It's time we are prepared, for anyone that has bad intentions toward us.

Mostly a S&W Shield in 9mm. I am feeling more comfort with pocket carry lately. I also carry occasionally a Ruger LC9 in front pocket. The pockets are deep enough and it doesn't print. I think most people are oblivious anyway to CC.

Don't wear your seatbelt on the drive down, you'll probably be fine. 😉

Once you get away from the big cities, generally no issue. However, if your view of the U.S. is Detroit from the Ambassador Bridge, yeah, I'd go back to Timmy's and get a double-double also... Or to the "Moose" and get some putene...

as I mentioned in another thread, I have my little CZ 75D PRC back in the rotation, with the new fiber optic sights. I love this pistol. smile

Just got our once a week local paper and saw this. Slowly but surely it's happening nation wide.

As far as daily carry goes it use to be that except for around the house or in town I would. A couple days ago my granddaughter saw someone on our back deck and when they saw her took off running. Only three families on our ridge. Each 1/4mi or more away. Probably no big deal but for the first time in over 20yrs I've lived in this house my Glock 19 w/115gr XTP's will be on me or within arms reach. At least for a while.
