....and I was happy to find it, even at an $0.80 cent markup over this time last week.

Been this way since Thursday here, combination of delays due to re-routed supply route and panic buying.

This situation shouldn't last too long, ya can't stockpile gasoline as easy as ya can ammo.

That depends on both your methods, and quality of fuel. I have seen set ups made to store up to about 300 gallons, that were beautifully made. Gas does not store as well as desiel, true, but only propane or nature gas will store really long term.
I, personally, store about 50gals in cans, and try to keep both generators, and the truck full.
We use store fuel points, sale prices, and gas cans to level out that kind of fluctuation in supply or price.
I try to keep a hundred gallons of diesel and as much gas. You never know during hurricane season here.
We have 4 vehicles full of gas. 10 gallon in the zero turn mower. 15 in gas cans. 5 in the generator.

As soon as the first tropical storm pops up in the spring i fill everything and keep it that way. I use Sta-bil in the stagant gas and have never had a problem. All that is NOT panic buying. I get it before everybody else even thinks about it.

I"m high enough here in my spot of East Texas that if my place goes under water, 1/3 of the state has drowned! I'm good.
no lines here, has only gone up 20 cents
Creeping up here, too. Paid $2.66 for diesel last night which is almost 30 cents over last week. I'm a 14 hour drive from Houston.
According to your state attorney general, you were price gouged and the business owner should go to jail.
typical on the left coast, they use ANY excuse they can come up with to jack up Fuel prices...

its $3.29 around town right now...was $2.99 the other day...

paid $2.59 when I went up to Potland on Friday....which was nice to also be in Blue Sky and Clean Air
vs, down here where we currently are rivalling Beijing for the worst air quality on the planet.

One sixth of the U.S. refining capacity going off line is hardly an "excuse". It's represents a significant change in the supply of a price inelastic product.

2008 proved the free market doesn't really exist.

I'd support rationing 10 gallons per fill up.

Mike. Hope Gov. Abbott fines those scalping bastards! It only went up .30 cents per gallon here in N. TX. But it's still BS!
Ya, all the way out here in Washington State, I was listening to an interview of somebody (don't know who) and heard an increase of 10 - 15 cents predicted.

I laughed. It'll be 50 cents to a dollar a gallon higher for as long as that high price can be milked.

You missed my point... that might be a legit excuse...

but a legit one is a rarity...on the west coast...

they even seem to see the need to raise prices when they have to change a
light bulb in the men's room...

but as the democRATS say " Don't let a disaster go to WASTE!"

Yes... mob rule is in a full insane mode in SA. They are removing statues that butt hurt a small faction of communists and sympathizers. The name change of Robert E. Lee high school was decided by 7 people with no local input. I watched with disgust as people fought over bottled water a few days before Harvey arrived. Now the mob is hoarding and fighting over gas. The fine citizens of SA elected themselves a far left socialist city council who feel the need to pattern their government after the left coast. The once great military city is now an embarrassing chithole.

They changed the name of the school??? When did that happen?

Dave
Filled up yesterday in Nowata. $2.29 per. Got a 2 liter bottle of Strawberry Fanta too. $2.29 for that as well. Nowata's Walmart went under about twenty years ago though.

About 30% of the nation's refining is shut down.
Traveled west to Graham and south the Madisonville this past weekend. Most gasoline was $2.49 per gallon with highs of $2.69 and lows of $2.29. Didn't see many lines once out of the DFW metro area. Did see a lot of tankers on the road delivering fuel. Love's tank trucks were out in force.

Maybe, didn't take note of the price until I was at the pump, I doubt it said $3.01 on the marquis. Anyhoo, I still have the 10 gallons in reserve at home which is a 300+ mile range in the little Toyota. Sounds like this whole deal is over with for now.
no lines for gas here, have not seen gas not available other than ethanol free not around right now, but only one place had that to start wiht.

I don't pay attention to prices since I have to buy it anyway.
Tank my "main rig" is down to 7/8's. Time to fill up!!

Just a wild guess, but I'd say this has something to do with it.

don't fret, it will have a new name soon to reflect the politics and politically correct passions
of the times..

I am sure the list of potential name changes will be

1. Che Guevara High

2. Mao Tse Tung High

3. Rosey O'Donnell High

4. Madonna High

or the most popular after the Che Guevara High, The Barrack Obama High School...

Liberalism marches on...
Just put gas in the escape since there was no line in town at Murphy's and I had not driven it since about the 25th or so prior to the flood..

So I did look at teh price. 2.20 per gallon.

I'd drive to La Grange...if I had enough gas to get there.

Next you're going to tell me the shelves there always had 22 shells.
Just paid $2.69 for regular in SWGA. Was $2.10 last week

Unless they can find someone else with the last name "Lee".

How about Chum Lee??
$2.65 all over town today. Up $.50/gal in a week. No lines.
2.59 here but gas futures are already down 3% today in Asia so it won't be long you will see them go down, , , a little. . . I think. ..
At least, in retirement, my Royal Dutch Shell stock is still paying a decent dividend.
I traveled from McAllen to Houston TWICE this weekend and had no problem getting gas or diesel at a normal price. Delivered water to Baytown this afternoon and got unleaded for $2.17/gal.
I'm in Ohio, and no where near the flooding, and I filled the company truck this morning for $2.66 per gal. , so I wouldn't call it gouging as much as supply and demand.
Still $5.52 here. No waiting. Price will remain same until next summer..... smile
$2.399/gallon here credit card price.

I'm talking when I was a kid... but lived in So Fla twice... and have
lived thru Hurricanes back then... don't remember Fuel prices
going up due to "supply and demand" during Hurricane times.

Could be mistaken, or poor memory from so long ago...

but I don't remember ANY fuel pricing ups and downs ( minus "gas wars" )
until the 1974 Oil Industry "Faked" Fuel Shortages....

where we were supposedly short fuel, while oil tankers sat at anchor
off the East coast for 3 and 4 months, because they supposedly had
nowhere to drop the fuel off, due to oil tanks on shore being full...
Have very many oil refineries in Florida when you were a kid?
To the best of my knowledge, we have built no new refineries in over 30 years, and those we have are running at near max capacity. Anything that effects that flow of fuel makes a big diffrence at the pump. And stations now react to shift in prices as they happen, instead of waiting till it hits them. Info moves much faster now, than when you were a kid. They no longer have to wait for the latest carier pigon to arrive.
Gone from $2.10ish to $2.60ish here in Virginia
Colonial Pipeline is basically down I am guessing.
Supply & Demand
Just seems a little odd that in any business you would want to name, one that was experiencing growth and guaranteed demand like fuel has, that no efforts have been made in over 30 years to build more refineries. ????? Name a business that sits on its hands like the oil industry.

Seriously? Every time one gets mentioned here comes the EPA and associated BS to shut it down. You can't even build a freaking pipeline (Keystone ring a bell) without people going apeschittt over some hypothetical crap.

The folks up here are goin apechit crazy over pipelines. Thing is, they all use gas/electricity/LP etc, etc
Guess it is just magically supposed to get where it needs to be for use??
all they had left today at the Murphy Oil station, was a little bit of High Test at $3.24 a gallon. This is in North Central Florida, a WEEK before Irma is supposed to show up. God help us all. Local Publix grocery was out of bread, beer, canned meat and veggies.
Found diesel today, maybe supplies get back to normal around Houston.

The expansion of our former Port Arthur refinery was fully the equivalent of building a new refinery given we added 350kbbl/day capacity. Just had to be a bit sneaky about it. wink

Spike Lee High School?
That was my thought too.

Of course this whole anti-Confederate thing is just an attack on "Whiteness" in general. I woulda termed it an attack on Whites per se except it is my understanding that most of the Student Democrat club pushing for it are also White.
