Book it!

I saw Anthony Ervin took a knee in Brazil on Sunday.

https://swimswam.com/anthony-ervin-kneels-national-anthem-raia-rapida/

The chick from another country behind him is looking at him like he needs his ass kicked up over his head... and she looks ready to do it. I concur.
Kriist, may as well ruin the Summer Olympics too...only comes every 4 years but they have to chiit on it.

Bet there's no kneeling in the Winter games smile
Bwana,

Haven't been able to watch a hockey game yet. Have they started in that sport at all?

Not to my knowledge but I don't get/watch a lot of hockey except the junior league from Seattle, the Thunderbirds.
Simple. Ervin off the team...NEXT
I'm so sick of this chit I'm about to go Pollock on somebody.

Well... we will see. It's done in NFL, MLB, college sports, little league sports, I'm sure jr. high/high school as well. Why not the Olympics? Anthony Ervin just did it where he won gold last year. With literally the world watching? Not some American Foosball shown only in 'Merica!

Honest to god, I want to know what JSTUART thinks of this. Americans are in a unique situation with the First Amendment to protest their government or speak mostly how they want and when they want, especially against the government (I'm speaking of the world stage of the Olympics and not about NFL where it's mostly shown to Americans in America). You know someone is going to do it. Someone wants the attention. Would Russia tolerate someone taking a knee for THEIR anthem at the Olympics? How many countries would?

Frankly, I'd be laughing my ass off if some American knelt for the anthem after winning gold and some Ukranian or Brit walked over after, on camera, and bitch slapped the chit out out the American.

Please note: I'm 100% against anything but taking your head gear off and placing your right hand over your heart during the anthem. And let's keep politics off the field.

And Bwana, they'd have done it last year in the summer Olympics if it was Trendy and Trump had spoken against it at that point. How Trump figures in is another story for another thread. If I was a bettin' man, I'd put $$ on American winter athletes kneeling, but only for the American national anthem.
I love to watch certain events in the winter Olympics. I like the luge and bobsled, curling, many of the nordic events, and especially hockey.

But I SWEAR, if I see a single american athlete so much as TWITCH when our flag is being raised or our anthem is being played, the TV goes off and I will be ice fishing and goose hunting the rest of the month.

More than any other athletic moment in our country, this event is about NATION FIRST.
Yep......shame these fuggers think nothing of disrespecting their own country.

My WW2 vet father would go upside my head.

Not that I would disrespect him by doing so.
I’m sick of it too, the only bright spot is the SOB that started it can’t get a job.
And who provides financial support for the Olympic athletes? They might want to consider that...
This National Anthem protest stuff goes back to the 1968 Summer Olympic Games. It caused a stir then, and this new is just recycled attention whoring.

Quote
The 1968 Olympics Black Power salute was a political demonstration conducted by African-American athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos during their medal ceremony at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the Olympic Stadium in Mexico City. After having won gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the 200-meter running event, they turned on the podium to face their flags, and to hear the American national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner". Each athlete raised a black-gloved fist, and kept them raised until the anthem had finished. In addition, Smith, Carlos, and Australian silver medalist Peter Norman all wore human rights badges on their jackets. In his autobiography, Silent Gesture, Smith stated that the gesture was not a "Black Power" salute, but a "human rights salute". The event is regarded as one of the most overtly political statements in the history of the modern Olympic Games.[1]
I just attended the funeral of my grandfather on Saturday. A WWII Vetran, a hard working, self-made man that had great respect for this country. I watched the Honor Guard give him a 21 gun salute after the service, and a member of the Marines and the Army fold 2 flags. One for my Vietnam Veteran Uncle, and one for my father.

If I'm at an event and see someone take a knee, they'er going to be on them for a long time after I'm finished stomping a mud hole in they ass and walking it dry.

Correct, but it's in vogue again thanks to Krapondick.

Nothing is ever new really... doesn't change the fact it was wrong back then, and for those types, we have not sent them back to the motherland yet unfortunately, and its wrong today also. New or not new.
Fish,
And of course now Krapondick is suing for "collusion" by NFL owners, playing the victim while snickering about the BS he has caused.

I saw highlights of his lawyer saying "Not 1 NFL owner will deny that Colin is in the top 20 quarterbacks in the game today, definitely in top 30....no doubt top 65",,,,,WTF ? great spokesman you are azzhole lol

Top 65 ?
I would just have to kick his ass off the team. This isn't the NFL or the NBA where the owners have to put up with a lot of crap in order to get a game played. This is representing our country. I'd have to send his ass packing to wherever his sensitivities allow him to compete.

Sad to say it won't happen because the coaches want to win and like the NFL owners will put up with a lot of crap to do it. The sponsors are the only thing that could get results. Again if it were me I wouldn't want my product supporting some half wit activist that thinks he has the authority to disrespect the country he is paid to represent.

Krapondick is blaming Trump in the suit for his quitting the 49ers and not getting picked up by another team. He has a future on his knees... in gay porn. He's going to star as Michael Sam in "Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys do Michael Sam."
Lol smile

Yep he blackballed himself from working, can't piss all over the boss and think you'll have a job in the morning...he'll get millions in the end, they won't won't to go thru arbitration and the legal bs...the hack lawyer said they had "proof" of collusion ?
As a swimmer and swim official, this is particularly offensive to me. If anyone ever did that at a swim meet for which I was the referee, I would DQ them.

If I attended that meet and saw what he did, i'd be on the railing booing as soon as the anthem was finished.
Today about 95% of our college professors are registered USA hating Democrats/Socialists who are brainwashing our future educators and leaders to believe that socialism is great and capitalism is bad. They also teach them that the white race is holding them down and they are entitled to other peoples hard earned money. We need another McCarthy to get rid of all the Communists in our education system and in the entertainment business.
They should be disqualified from competition if they do. They should be informed of that ahead of time.

Agreed in full. In fact, the Olympics is in part a substitution for war. It is a means to pit nations against each Other, without using bullets and bombs. Many of the events have a history in war. The hammer throw, the skiing and shooting (biathlon?) Marathon races come from the plains of Marathon where a messenger ran 26miles to report, then died on the spot. Javilan throw, (just to name a few) all get thier start in warfare.
It clearly is not the first time the Olympics has been a focus of political tensions though.

Same here but I'm not a ref. Grew up swimming competitively through HS and college.
I had a good friend that was a top notch competitive swimmer, he used to shave down his whole body including head...he said hair slowed you down, we called him Caine (David Carradine-Kung Fu Show)....I think he just liked to shave smile

Off topic but... We'd do that for the final meet of the season. Head, armpits, chest, legs, everything. It wasn't because hair created drag- it was both psychological and it'll sound weird to anyone that hasn't done it but you can really "feel" the water. Get done shaving and put your pants on, they come right on. Slip into bed and slide out the other side. Lemme tell ya, if you think your woman's stubble is bad after a day or two of her not shaving her legs, nothing compares to your man-stubble the next morning after shaving. That'll wake your ass up quick.

I noticed in the Olympics last year they're still shaving but the tendency to shave the head has been put aside and the guys wear caps now. They didn't 10-15 years ago- they'd shave the head.

And [bleep] Anthony Ervin.
Most just use a cap and go hairy until right before the meet.

Shaving on-site will get a swimmer DQ’d.
Yea I never called him on it, if he wanted to shave to swim him best...what do I know ?, I was baseball and track.

He was a great guy, dead too early at 23 yrs old...His name was Mark Ball, always said he'd name his first kid "Harry"....we laughed our azzes off smile

PS: After he shaved his head the first time, his hair never grew back right...he was stuck always shaving it till the end.
If this gets out, I wonder what'll happen to people donating to the Olympic teams. They might take a big financial hit.

There's not much to "get out" right now, I'm just predicting we'll see some kneeling during the US anthem at the winter Olympics. Seems to the the "in thing."
Unreal, but I agree it's coming...they are getting attention, that's all that matters to them.
I'm quickly seeing this as the red line in the social sand issue between the real Americans and the hate-America left, or their brainwashed Army. This 50/50 division in this country will only get more emphatic. And the fate of this nation, I'm afraid, depends on the outcome. People may think I'm being too dramatic but this social war has been in the making for decades. I just think this particular issue is where the final battle begins. I hate to say it, but the enemy has been winning this war for decades. That's why electing someone as anti-PC as Trump shocks their collective nervous system so much. Their used to getting their way, and he represents a threat to that.
You older guys will remember John Carlos and Tommy Smith giving a black power salute on the medal podium at the '68 summer Olympics. All hell broke loose that time. Now it would just pass over most people.

More likely, they'll cheer enthusiastically.
We needs an executive order stating that the new approved sign of reverence to the flag is to drop to one knee, thereby showing submission to the State...or better yet a Tweet.

JT Brown from Tampa has been holding his fist in the air. He just came out yesterday that he will stop and is actually going to put his protest into action by doing ride alongs with the police and working with groups from the black community.

Well, knowing how Brent Burns supports the troops, I'm guessing no one on the Sharks better try it or they might see the wrath of the Wookie.

Geno

PS, then again, he might support their right to "protest"/

Pretty pathetic protest on the NHL black players' part. Claiming they felt ostracized and alone in the locker room??? What? All 6 of the black NHL players?
Now they know how white guys feel in the NFL...

I am increasingly in favour of capital punishment.

And every time I see one of those spoiled arrogant twerps take the knee I move a little closer to the right.
