Redbuds and Mountain Laurel (a tree) are blooming here, and all the Arizona Ash (a common landscaping tree in the 1960's) are leafing out. Right on schedule the white-winged doves are back, calling from every shade tree and crapping on our cars.
About 60 and sunny here today, supposed to be the last pretty day for a while. Weather reports say it's going to rain tonite, then cool off with a chance of snow next weekend. Cows are calving, trees are budding out, wheat and pastures need to fertilized, so the last thing we need is more rain and cold. The ground is still pretty wet, and badly needs to dry out.
We've got a foot of fresh snow on the ground here in upstate NY. Got hit with a nasty Nor-Easter Friday. Snowin and blowin so hard you couldn't see 30 ft. sometimes. 45 MPH wind gusts.
I was at some kind of function a while back and they had some Jalapeno jelly along with the meal. I did not expect to like it, but I did. Not very hot but had a good taste. miles

i keep candied jalapenos to eat on my eggs hot but sweet.
Same crap heat here too... wife told me a few times this weekend I'm getting grumpy. Hell yes. 80 plus, over 90 next weekend on a pig hunt around Laredo. Yuck. We have at least 8 more months to look forward to sweating when you walk out the door till you walk back in. 8 more months of Jeff the grouch.
You saw a snowflake? Dude, brace yourself schit's about to get real! That's what we had here today too bit of snow on and off right at the freezing mark. And I had a plain old blade steak, must be doing something wrong. haha
Went for a walk with the dog just before sundown. I can smell the Bluegills starting to bed, the plum trees are in full bloom, and the Sweet Gum trees are budding out.
Sam, 32F & high humidity sucks. I'd rather have 20F and 25% humidity any day. Thanks for the belly laughs!
44* and sunny here. Had a bad wind storm on Friday, 35 - 50 MPH with gusts to 70. Lost power Friday evening and got it back yesterday. It's supposed to snow Wednesday morning when I'm trying to fly to TX, and there's something in the works for Sunday when I fly home. It's supposed to be between 70 & 80 this weekend in TX. Sounds like great pig shooting weather.
32F, 90% humidity and currently snowing sideways.... (windchill 22F....)
As soon as my camera thaws out there will be an awesome vid......
Sam,
that's the weather report for two-three days ago here.
Today, 49 F right now after a low of 11. And sunny as can be. It's killing me that I can't get tomatoes and peppers in the ground yet.
It's OK though, as I've been waiting for a warm day to put new locks and lever type handles on the entry doors. Won't lose much heat today.
Geno
PS, I need to make one of those videos for my relatives in SoCal. Always getting complaints from them when it gets below 50. Brother sent a picture of him at work on the Pettybone. Hoodie and a Carhart type jacket. I believe it was right around 49 degrees. They don't understand shoveling snow in the flannel PJ's so the wife can get to the garage.
Now again gentlemen(and Geno...)to be clear, I was just joking around(obviously) about the 'freezing' cold and high humidity combo. It was actually quite pleasant feeling outside yesterday.
I just get a kick out of ribbing the Texas guys, just like teasing my drinking buddies...
"yeah but it's a dry cold" humors me to no end....
That said today actually did suck.....grin
I was thinking to myself that I bet Jim is having fun today and looks like I was right!
Getting pretty fancy there Conrad with a new snow machine..... Of course you know that it will now never snow again!
Speaking of snowmobiles, after I spent 20 minutes digging out the stuck pickup I said screw this and used the ol' 4450 to get around down to the tanks.
Be careful on that thing, and don't try and see if it'll run as fast as the speedometer says it will..
Its got a huge, ridiculous engine!
1049 cc three holer.
A lot bigger than I wanted.....but I suppose I will make it work.
Nice. Extra points for the non linear thinking and truckload of extra power should be able to open er up and melt the snow in your wake Don't think you can go too wrong with Arctic Cat they've been one of the stand up brands for ever.
I don't know anything about that chit but he claims 350-500hp depending on the settings.
He has 6-7 snowmobiles, absolute nut.
That is nuckin futs. More power than my pick up.
There used to be an annual snowmobile race down the Thompson river not too far from here. Sept they did it in the summer! The key- lots of speed lots of power, they'd wind the sleds up on a grassy field and hit the water as fast as they dared and see if they could make it several miles down stream. Lots of sunk sleds as you might imagine but quite a few made it! A blend of delicate balance and hp. You're cousins sled would be a condendah
We hit 83 today. Shorts weather. My wife and I hit a pretty good movie, Red Sparrow, then had a late lunch in town. I had a very good bowl of chili and a Greek salad. A great day.

I have two, but AC is rapidly losing market share due to poor upper management running dealers out of business. Dealers cannot afford to keep in stock everything the big boys say they have to to remain a dealer- or so my dealer told me. He quit 2 years ago, but still services them with parts and labor. He said AC has lost about 50% of their dealers in the last few years.
You are better off with a Yamaha (my Bravo is a '93, and going strong - well, as strong as a Bravo ever gets, anyway.... . ), a Polaris, or a Skidoo.
You really made me think Sam. We 're seldom near freezing to death. It's always hypothermia. I suppose we 're pretty lucky in that aspect. I've never experienced sub-zero temperature, but I'm damn glad when we it drops below that freezing point here for a few days (which is rare) to get the damn water out of the air. I know it's a tough place up there...same here. If it wasn't, we'd have hippies.
This morning in Kotzebue- at least the wind was down again. The snow machine on the right is a hair-on-fire AC 1100 Turbo. My wife is a fast woman...... . The one on the left is my old go-to Bravo. Danged near bulletproof. Whereas I bought the AC in August, and I almost have it working almost right.... . It is a 2012, and only had 560 miles and 40 hours on it. I discovered why it was such a "bargain". . I now know a whole lot more about it than I ever really wanted to.
My wife and I agree that we do not miss our five winters living in Calgary. I kind of feel the same for my three winters in Kazakhstan or my three summers in Dubai and Doha...

Pat, hands down the coldest I've ever been in my life was a couple summers ago.
On a horse, 0% chance of rain, several miles from the pickup when it decides to pour rain for a couple hours. Thinking it was 50-60F and none of us were prepared, I had on a t-shirt.... Shaking ass cold, fingers turning blue, teeth chattering...
We laugh about it now but that fricken cold!
Things I learned today.
3 feet of hard ,drifted snow is the maximum for my tractor when it's pulling a loaded bale processor. Damn near got it stuck and that was rather uncomfortable feeling...
Honda generators don't like ground blizzards. Went to start it this morning and it was locked up. Took it home and the entire generator was an ice chunk. It had pulled in snow while it running and then froze solid overnight. Half hour with a heat gun and she was back in business. I really need to make a little enclosure for that thing. It's been getting tortured all winter but manages to hang on!
One more night of below zero and then it looks like we might be out of the woods just in time for calving!
Jim, while dad and I were clearing the road today I was thinking this really ain't chit(1/4 mile blew in...). Glad we weren't out in the hills having big fun!
Rooster, I have a feeling Jim won't be high marking on fresh powder with that beast!
