Bingo. They are taking a shot at about everything.
A friend and former coworker grew up in the same house shown from the outside that was used on the original show. She inherited it after her mom's death but has since sold it. IIRC it was on the market for a good while and the fact that it regularly appeared in the Roseanne show didn't add much if any to the actual sale price of the house. I believe it has been bought and sold once or twice more since and was reported to be used again to represent the outside their home in this new Roseanne show too.

I laughed my ass off at some of the parts. They're taking shots at what America has become, maybe people will wake up.
Fessing up that I watched it, and laughed, out loud, several times. For perspective, I no longer spend much time with network news. There was more pertinent commentary of our life and times on the comedy show. Great thing about tv is the off button.
We so badly need an "index all things prohibitorum" for reference here on the 'fire to keep it clear exactly what things we are permitted to do, watch, think, and so on. It gets really confusing at times.
Frankly, I couldn't stand it and turned the channel after Dan huffed off to the garage.
I tuned in a little late to see the kitchen scene where Roseanne & Dan were surrounded by the failure of our society. The modern nihilism that left Dan unable to (judging by the characters surrounding him) effectively refute the immorality that took his family and is so aptly described at www.liberalismisasin.com. His daughter comes in, tells them she is doing a surrogate pregnancy, and all Dan can do is stomp off after Laurie spouts off the Libertine 'it's her body" BS. I turned it off then because I had no expectation that Dan or Roseanne would be any more effective in handling that than they were in handling the [bleep] of the grandson.
If you can put up with that schitt, have at it. I'm done with it.

I cannot believe that you even tuned in and watch more than 15 seconds of it.
Haven't seen last night yet, but I did like the show at first before it got stupid.
So don't watch it because, from OP: - Parents on on prescription pain drugs. explained as due to a life of manual/physical labor. - black kid, so Son married a black girl, both are military vets and the wife is still in Syria, for which Rosanne included in a prayer to thank and protect our troops - Jackie is a snowflake, Jackie was also endlessly slammed for it, it shows the polarized country we are in AND if you watched the first go round, Jackie was always that dumb sister who made all the wrong decisions - grandson that is "confused" on gender. Yup, that is also a hot topic today, kids' Mother" on the show was always the social libreral do-gooder who the parents didn't understand and from what I read, they still don't and Dan even had to leave the room over this one
So show hits on positive Trump views, and makes fun of some social issues, while trying to bring up other topics in a way that points viewers in the "right" direction but hopefully gets them talking.
Even though I'm "conservative", I'm pretty open-minded. I don't mind tolerating "differences". That tolerance ends when someone feels it is ok to take my rights or my property, or expect me to pay for their lifestyle. As long as you don't cross those lines, I think LOTS of oeople are pretty tolerant, at least on the Right.
