article here

The article of from Of Arms and the Law, by attorney David Hardy. David doesn't say a lot, but what he does say carries a lot of weight.

Long story short: There was a law allowing certain officials to appoint an Independent Counsel. It expired in 1999. Absent that law, Independent Counsel must be appointed by the President and confirmed by Congress. That is according to DOJ's own Office of Legal Counsel.

Meuller, of course, was appointed by DOJ.

Edited to add: He's a Special Counsel, not an Independent Counsel. Could be a false alarm.
Note the reply saying that Mueller is not an IC but a Special Counsel which doesn't seem to follow the IC process. Very confusing.

they're making it up as they go, as they have for many many years. the SCOTUS will have to settle more and more stuff, and their makeup on the court will effect the outcomes.
Meuller's letter of appointment

You're right, he's a Special Counsel. Oooooops.
It's a screw up, no matter the legalities.

The problem with govt screw ups is that they tend to multiply rather than wane, or get fixed.
Govt. screwup or merely semantics?

Mueller is investigating Sean Connery...............

seems trump saw a James Bond Movie in the '70's.
