Anybody watching?
Posted By: WeimsnKs Re: Indy 500 - 05/27/18
I was born and raised 30 min north of Indy. I don’t miss the race for nothing.

I’m on it.

Great day for racing.

Any bets on what lap Danica is out? I’ll take 101.

How many other cars will she take out?

I can't believe she didn't cause the first caution!
Posted By: calikooknic Re: Indy 500 - 05/27/18
33 laps early......

Oops

She is losing her touch. Didn't take anybody else out. Lap 68.

Go away now, Danica. Well bye.

Actually, I will miss rooting against her.

By far the most overrated person in all of sports combined.

I just happened to turn it on as she hit the wall. Didn't really surprise me.

Go Tony!

New car design this year with less downforce. Lots of cars loose, two wrecks with the back end letting go and the car swaps ends.
I live 60 miles SW of the track, grew up in Indy and never saw a race car on the track until I started working in Terre Haute in 1985. Did business with one of the Hulman companies and the salesman took me to the track to watch a practice day. Unsers, Andretti, AJ Foyt, Rick Mears, common to see Paul Newman in the pit or garage area. I gained acces to a suite through a small team owner I also did business with. Carb day was my favorite, attended two races but just hate fighting the crowds so watch it from home these days,

Here we go!

Don't care a thing about it.

A bunch of us (around 30 or so) would go up there after college in the early 80’s and watch the race from the infield. Man, what a major party it was. We would get there on sat and stay up all night and be at the gate for the infield at first light.one year we accidentally left someone up there as a huge storm came in right at the end of the race when everyone was headed back to the cars. Didn’t figure it out until we were all the way back in St. Louis.

Are we allowed to watch these races?

Probably not. I am sure some of the sponsors are on the boycott list.

Live less than an hr away.
Listen to it occasionally on radio, if I remember.
Witch had it on for a bit today.

As a kid, big cookout on grandmas farm.........kids played, while adults listened around the radio in the shade.
Moved to Ft Wayne and it was far enough away, no blackout.
Watched it religiously then.

Back to blackout zone.
Think last full race I listened to,was on top of bud's house roofing (few years back).

IIRC it comes on local around 8 pm.

Not gonna watch.

Listened on WIBC as per normal. Born/raised in Indy, had a 22 year streak of attending the race end last year. Yesterday was way too hot to go sit in stands with 200,000 others....

Good point.

I was there along with both my boys & there significant others. We took my 7 year old grandson for the first time. First year I went was 1976 with a group of friends in the infield. Did that for 7 years and just had a ball. Then started getting tickets and have never missed a year. Upgrades have finally moved us to the paddocks almost in front of the start/finish line. At least we were in the shade for the whole race so it wasn't too bad. This made 43 years in a row. Not sure how many more I want to do it. It gets harder each year getting excited about it. It was a good race though. Was hoping for the home town boy Carpenter to win though.
