Down here in "Green Hell' its in the 90's with high humidity every day.
We put up with it because the spring, winters and fall are so nice.
But you have outside work to do in the heat, so how do you cope?
I don't care what your age is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
FOLLOW THE 30/30 RULE
No more than 30 minutes working outside, followed by 30 indoors in the A/C.
Repeat until you are finished or just ready to quit.
And no, drinking lots of water doesn't work.
Water goes right through you.
My bud is 76 and I'm 68 and we routinely play 18 holes of golf in this heat.
The secret?
Gatorade!
It cools you off, quenches your thirst, and replenishes electrolytes.
Give it a try
get me in that heat/humidity and its more like 30 seconds work...... 30 minutes cool off!
I thought this was going to say to lube inside of the case necks before sizing.
I thought this was the pawn shop warranty rule of "30 steps/30 seconds, whichever comes first"...

And loads you up with sugars and "bad carbs" you don't need. Drink water.
Gonna be hot in Texas today
That would take me 8 hours to do a 4 hour job.... Not an option
This is primarily for us retired old farts
That's what I've been doing for years now (I'm 75) except I don't drink much Gatorade or Power Aid because of all the sugar. If I do drink it I dilute with water 50/50. I prefer to alternate between water and V8 juice. It takes me an hour to mow and 30 min. to weed eat. I recently weighed before and after I mowed/trimmed my yard I weighed 5 lbs. less when I finished.
That Gatorade thing was only a suggestion, whatever works for you as long as you don't overdo working in the heat.
In this heat it take me 2 hours to watch 60 minutes
I'd recommend Pedialyte. Less sugar.

I saw a chicken lay a hard boiled egg.
I just don't work outside between 11am and 5 pm during the summer here in Houston, get to catch up on my napping that way....

Actually, One Gatorade to one water is really needed. You need the stuff that's in there when you are exercising, especially in the heat. When your are plopped on your butt in front of the computer, no, you don't need the carbs. I'll pass along more later. There are misconceptions about Gatorade and sports drinking in general that have come from the running world that do not apply elsewhere.

Gatorade is one of the worst things you can do. If you do it, its gotta be cut way back with water. Gimme gatorade at a fire and it'll gut bomb me and make me puke.
Yep you need some of the stuff, but I'd drink 50/50 pedialyte well before gatorade.
And the heat, hard to avoid while working ofr a living unforturnately. But at least on weekends we don't generally go past 1-2 pm and then not back out before 5pm or so till dark. if I'd have to do 30/30 I might be alive but I'd never get anything done.

2-3 oz. of (not from concentrate) orange juice in a 16.9 oz bottle of water is what I drink on this weight loss program I'm doing. It keeps you hydrated and is surprisingly not bad tasting at all.

Cool...we Australians seem to have missed this wee gem.
i tend to drink the power aid zero, and lots of water, knew a guy who would only drink tonic water.
somehow my grandmother lived 75 years only drinking black coffee, and the occasional glass of wine.
Nothing rehydrate your body like coconut water.
Alcoholics known this for years.
I know FL heat and humidity as well as anyone. Other than being aggravating, it’s not so bad. I drink Gator Aid, but cut it by 50% with water.
I saw a chicken lay a hard boiled egg.
I saw a dog chasing a cat
They were both walking.....

A floating pool chair with a couple drink holders and umbrella bracket works better.
I don't know how I ever lived through all those 10 hour days on the railroad pulling or driving spikes with no shade in 95 degree temperatures with heat radiating off the rails/railbed making it 110* on the tracks. Somehow I managed.
Its hard to have sympathy for people who complain about summer heat, when you live somewhere
you have to wait 9 months for summer to roll around...
Although I have to admit, If I was financially a white guy... I'd have a home in Key West, probably Montana
a nice getaway place in Alberta.... and one in New Zealand.....
when I was a kid in lived in south Fla when my dad was stationed there in the Air Force...
I use to do yard work either early in the morning or late in the evening before the sun went down..
but then compared to a lot of people, I can take extreme cold or extreme heat better than most people I've been around.
The 30/30 rule to me is how I load my rifles when I'm going to be hunting in the woods where shots are no longer than say 150 yds....which I do alot, which is why I use a lot of 4198 in my hunting rounds.

Never tried it. Have heard it though. Maybe its time. What do you mix with it?

Probalby because it was only 110 on the tracks. When it gets really hot the body eventually doesn't like it. 110 ain't that bad.

I'm thinkin' most here wouldn't make it through a 1500 bale day when it's 120 in the mow. And 110 is fuggin hot when you're exerting yourself pulling/driving spikes in the blazing sun for hours. Anyone who thinks it isn't, hasn't done it.
Gatorade Frost (Glacier Freeze), Tito's,.....50/50.
On the fireline, I'd mix a gatorade with a gallon of water. Made straight warm water taste alittle better. Too much gatorade is a killer but a small amount spread overtime seemed to replaced enough of those salts to keep the electrical signals in the brain and muscles going.

Nothing. Just drink one when you're depleted and go back to water. You can find the Spanish titled ones for a buck a can usually.
I can't drink the ones with pulp. Fugkin' nasty.
Been using the Nuun Electolyte tablets for a few years. You just drop one in a bottle of water and go. I keep some in the truck. They are a good bit cheaper than Gatorade too

THE best summer drink.
So far this mix with
the handle of tequila they had next to it at Costco has been my favorite drink this summer.
No so sure about this heat thing you all are talking about, I think it might of broke 70F once or twice so far this summer. Went camping with my youngest son this weekend and it was 45 and raining the last day of the trip.
I had my 1st Gatorade at the Ascot 1/2 mile track. They were promoting it among the racers and if you qualified for the main event 100 miler you got free Gatorade. I had spent the entire day working in the August sun as a lifeguard and I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever drank. 100 miles of flat tracking on a Dunstall Triumph 750 will wear your azz out.
