Roughly 8-10 inches bill to tail, black and white with a red head AND acts like a flycatcher. Saw two the other day, one perching atop a T-post the other perched upon and pecking a wooden utility pole. Both would fly out, just like grabbing an insect, and return to perch. Did not take much more in... What say you?
Take your pick.!
Red-headed Woodpecker, flycatching is what they do, in addition to caching stores of acorns.
Ivory billed woodpecker
"Stanley"
Woody!

Thanks Birdwatcher and Deerwhacker, red headed, that`s the one. New life lister for this westerner....
