The X makes a lot of sense to me. The F15 is one badass airplane. Particularly interesting is the idea of using the F-35 and the X in a coordinated manner.

It makes economic sense but I doubt it will be purchased. The cost of leading edge technology is crippling our war fighting ability but the air force loves the best of the best new technologies. The cost and low readiness of the F35 is a terrible combination.
