I live in TN, and mailed a set of grips to a guy in Canada one time a couple of years ago. They went from TN to Atlanta, to Miami, to New York, to ENGLAND, and then back to Canada. Took about 3 weeks in all, but he did finally get them.
First time I used tracking. Priority
PA to Ohio.
Guy asks if I sent the money after a week.
Yes.
I didn’t know about tracking.
Gave him the number.....it was in Puerto Rico ....for a week.

It's a easy mistake. Air Mail gets sorted into bags about like a tow sack. There is a tag about the size of a business card that goes on a holder on that bag. If they forget to change the card when the bag is hung and it isn't checked when it's tied, that sack of mail is going back to where it went the last time it was used.

That's just one of many ways mail doesn't go where it's supposed to.
