don't know if anyone else has these, but i just ate a order of 18 gizzards 2 breast, okra and coleslaw damn good better than churches, popeyes or kfc.
Posted By: curdog4570 Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
We have them and I agree with you.
Posted By: Cheesy Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Ate at one south of OKC before Christmas. I’d do it again. Don’t have them up here though.
Posted By: SandBilly Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Drove by many in the past. I’ll have to stop next time.
Posted By: SandBilly Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Damn sure know I couldn’t eat that much though.
Posted By: Dillonbuck Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Sounds good.

If it's better than KFC and Churches, it's good.

I always loved Popeyes, we got our first locally a year ago.
It sucks. Don't know if the chain changed, or it's this store.
Disappointing.

Rancher friend got lunch at chicken express. Usual fried chicken, gravy, biscuit. He had some leftover gravy and gave it to his dog. Dog would not eat it. Go figue, not real food. Good luck!

Never had it.

Canes chicken. Mmmmm

It’s okay. The fish is surprisingly good at times.
Posted By: Valsdad Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Now I know why whenever I buy a whole chicken the gizzards are missin'

They sent 'em all down to S TX.

Same here

Bout the best chain chicken place going. KFC and Churches don’t hold a candle.
Posted By: Rooster7 Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Never heard of it but KFC has literally sucked ass since the Colonel bit the rhubarb.
Posted By: chlinstructor Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Roger, we have them here. Their OK, but Golden Chick is better!

If your ever passing through Coleman, TX, there’s a little mom & pop chicken joint called Best Fried Chicken. Kinda like a Church’s Fried Chicken, but owned by the same white family for 3 generations. It’s the best I’ve ate anywhere in a restaurant. Bar none.
Posted By: CharlieFoxtrot Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Love me some pickled gizzards and ice cold Busch beer.

It's my favorite fried chicken place!

I have their website bookmarked on my phone so I can find the nearest one when I'm traveling. grin

Man I can eat 10lbs of fried chicken gizzards and not even blink.. im going to have gizzards Friday night..
Posted By: 1911a1 Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
I like chicken expresses chicken tenders and their Ice Tea is good but their bone in chicken isn't as good as KFC.

I need to try Golden Chick I've had catfish twice at G.C. first time was great last weekend not so great but their yeast rolls are awesome.
Posted By: DMc Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
Chicken Express, all the time! Golden is good too, but fewer locations.

For the BEST fried chicken in North Central Texas, "Babes"
Posted By: hanco Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
It is good, we have it once in a while.

Being as we already have a panel of experts assembled.....

Which place has the best chitlin's and poke salat?

laugh

I used to like KFC back in the day. Zaxby's is good, and so is Chick-Fil-A. I like to support Chick-Fil-A because they are a Christian business, and hated by the libs. We also have Popeyes and Bojangles in these parts, and they're okay, nothing special.

Best fried chicken I ever ate was my aunts. I'd rather have a good piece of fried chicken than a steak. I have never eaten gizzards, but can eat my weight in chicken livers, provided they're cooked right. I local Minit Mart used to serve the best I've ever had. Cracker Barrel's are good too.
Posted By: gophergunner Re: chicken express - 01/24/19
I've never heard of Chicken Express. They must not be up here in Minnesota. Mom and Dad used to go get fried gizzards at a take out joint down in Youngstown, Ohio. They really liked 'em. I've never tried them. My sister makes the absolute best fried chicken I've ever had. We have KFC , Chick-Fil-A and Popeyes around here. We also have an outfit called Cane's. There stuff is pretty good, but I still think KFC has the best cole slaw.

When kamo goes south I'd really like his review on this place and a Buccees.

Assuming we have enough bandwidth of course.

For fast food restaurant fried chicken I like Bill Millers the best with Chicken Express a strong second. Both have good iced tea. However I never eat Bill Millers Barbecue. It is very "bleh"

we usually don't do the fast food deal, though he did eat a whataburger after a night of shooting pool, most came back up about a hour later back at the casa.

Chicken Ex and Bushs chicken is good.

Doesn't everybody do that after eating Whataburger?

We just had the last of an eight piece last night for supper. We don't do it often but an 8 piece with mashed taters, okra, and green beans gives us supper for two nights. Good stuff

The Golden Chick in Refugio was great, last time I was through there. The one in Hondo, not so much.

My nephew calls it the “dead chicken” place. Has since we took him there when he was 4 years old. He thought the sign was a dead chicken instead of a flying chicken when he was little. We’d ask him where he wanted to go eat and he would say ”the dead chicken place” 🤠

Gaston had dinner at a Chicago Popeye's then went home and invented the Glock 18.

There is a KFC in the big town over west.

Its kinda garbage though.

You people sure bring up a lot of fancy restaurants I have never heard of or seen before.

Yes, in my review it earned the definitive KG thumbs down. Being that it scored so poorly in the traditionally very generously judged 'drunken 3am drive thru' category, that's saying something.

You got to eat more garbage.

i do

They finally built a couple of them around here in Santa Fe and Alvin. Good stuff, and now they make spicy, instead of having to sprinkle their magic seasoned salt on it.

Raising Canes and Pluckers are damn good, and the new Slim Chickens ain't bad either.
Posted By: 79S Re: chicken express - 01/25/19
no chicken express here so I have to make my own gizzards which is on the menu tonight. Cooking up some chicken hearts as well. There is a place here in anchorage called the lucky wishbone and they sell gizzards, but they should just call it a tub of chicken livers.
Posted By: deflave Re: chicken express - 01/25/19
I don't like gizzards but I could eat three buckets of livers.
Posted By: hanco Re: chicken express - 01/25/19
My son worked there when he was in high school. He won’t eat it at all.
