Go Blues. It’s a long shot but back in early January they did not even have a shot at it. Anyway right now it is entertaining but I know better than to get my hopes up too much.
Woot! I know- wait until Game 6 is over right - with respect to our St Louis brethren. Good series Jim. if y'all knock out the stars I will likely be rooting for y'all.
. Love seeing Otter on the sidelines. What an instigator he was. Would drive opponents insane.
I’ve been a blues fan since 66/67, It’s been a long drought, may our cup finally runneth over. That being said the games took a little turn towards animosity in the last match up. I expect both sides to come out hitting hard tonight. If anything else it should be classic play off hockey viewing pleasure. Cheers to you in Texas.
See you guys from Dallas on Tuesday. Hope Bishop is ok and able to play. He is a St. Louis native and good guy, if he wasn’t on the stars I would be rooting for him.
So far I'm happy. After the first round, there were 3 teams I absolutely DID NOT want to see touch the cup...……………. the Craps...…...…..the BJ's......…...and the Screwins. 2 outta 3 so far. Go Canes !!!!
Ok, if there are any Pens fans out there, where do we go from here? Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Kessel are all 32-33 years old. Do we try to make one more run or start the rebuild now ? ? ?
Jim- congrats to your Blues. Stars looked awful last night and it would have been a travesty had they snuck one in on Binnington in OT. Blues weer definitely the better team yesterday. Hope ya'll make it to the cup. I would love to see an old school Cup battle between Blues and Bruins. Cheers- btw- y'all getting hit by those nasty storms?

I think the rebuild needs to start with the coach. For some reason he is the common denominator on a few trades of some talented guys...…......Reaves and Cole for two, and rumor was Kessel almost got it last year.
As far as shopping players.........……..Letang needs to go. Duct tape Maatta to his arm when you ship him out. Crosby is going nowhere. Malkin missed 14 games and had as many points as Kuznetsov did this year. Kessel tied his 2nd best ever points total and was 25th in the NHL...……..tied with Eichel and ahead of Toews, Pastrnak, Seguin, Bergeron and a whole bunch of other "big points guys" and future Hall of Famers.
Hey Randy! Clan Mac is doing great. My oldest is home from college. He played some pick up hockey at Michigan Tech. My other boys are still playing. It’s spring hockey and lacrosse. How are things up yonder?
Haven't been on the 'fire much this spring, glad to see you hockey fans are keeping a thread going.
Been a bit of a rocky postseason so far for the team I've followed since their inception. The San Jose Sharks.
Captain America to the rescue!! Goal, assist, drew a penalty, I was thinking if he got in a fight (a very rare occurrance for Pavs) he could put his name in for inclusion in the Hockey Gods list.
Avs fans, quite the captain you have in Landeskog. Taking responsibility for the offsides leading to an overturned goal is real class. Kudos to him.
Now, St Louis is going to be something. Worst team in the League goes to the Conference final 5 months later. Yikes. They may be the best team in hockey right now.
Enjoy the final four folks....................I will.
Tuesday night was one heck of a ride. I like the sharks/note match up only because we have unfinished business from 3 yrs ago. IF the note makes it through our toothy friends let me tell you the town of St. Louis will be going nuts. Time will only tell but I can’t wait for Saturday night and the drop of the puck. Congratulations to those Star fans, heck of a series and we all know it could have gone the other way due to the stellar play of a former St. Louis kid.
Well last Saturday’s game is still stinging a bit here in St. Louis , hope tonight’s game goes better. It has started out ok but it’s a long way from being finished.
Given their record and play since Jan 3, and seeing as how they thoroughly shut down the Sharks in the last 3 games, I'm putting my money on the Blues in 5 or 6. Best team in HOCKEY for 5 1/2 months now.
Only thing that might screw St Lou, if Binnington comes up injured.
Geno
PS, funny how the net came off, twice, when the Sharks were gaining some momentum last night? Must have been week stubs under the post I think.
To sum up how big of a deal it is for some fans/people, once the Note won, bad ass Kelly Chase went out into the hall way so he could cry. It was tears of joy and tears of emotion towards the game and tears of respect for the fans. They all tried before this team to bring that blasted cup to St. Louis, some really great players over the years and some really great teams. IF the Blues would be fortunate to win the cup, it will be a party like no other. Cheers friends.
I'm all in for the blues now, also happy for the fans in St Louis, its about time they made it to the big time, they been in the league since 67. I think Maroon is a great hockey player and is going to come up big against the Bruins.
Blues need to pull their heads out of their azz and play their game. Let’s face it though, if you’re playing in the finals, there aren’t any easy wins coming your way. Step it up boys, the other team certainly has.
This game is causing me to drink so much that come tomorrow I won’t know who won or how well they played. Not to mention, work will be a lack of production

LMAO
You’re emotionally attached. Trust me, the Blues look great.

“Emotionally attached” really ????? You think ???? I’ve only been let down 53 of my almost 61 yrs of my life. You want a first born? You can have mine, just give us the damn cup. Btw my first born is in his mid 20’s and on his own so it’s not like it’s a real burden for you to pick up.

A whole lotta oxygen just got sucked from them Bruins atmosphere.. Love it! West baby! wooooooo! Praying for 7 and extras in each game.. Once this is over nothing to watch but baseball... Id rather watch paint dry. Thank god for MMA reruns and Top Rank boxing.
No joy in this end of Beantown tonight. Well, at least we won't have to deal with the traffic tie ups downtown. These victory parades are becoming a civic nuisance.
Dodged a bullet on the no trip call and then we score. Could get ugly now.
Bozak played college hockey at DU. Helluva player. Left early to play for money. Rooting for St Louis on this basis alone. Colorado Avalanche season long over with.

Trip yes.....but his lawn dart flip flop would make a Euro soccer pro proud
Pure Hollywodd......Dennis Rodman-esk
I feel they didn't call the trip because it would have needed an accompanying embellishment call. Plus, it is the finals, the whistles tend to be swallowed more and more as the playoffs advance.
One here.that game the Bruins didn't lose to the reff's we were out play and Chara was out of position every shift.I still have confidence in the B's but they have to play their game...
We were watching the game with friends at a local sports bar, we sure were waiting to party big time only to be postponed. Let’s see what Wednesday brings.
I drove 10 hours to watch the Blues lay an egg in game 6. Afraid they lost their opportunity. None of their stars “showed up”. Is Schwartz even playing in this series? Defense turning the puck over in their own zone. Goalie giving up a soft goal? They have a lot of things to fix if they want a remote chance of winning it in Boston.
The big question is, will the Blues go back to their thuggish antics now that they are in a game 7, winner take all situation and no repercussions until next year? I think they will and it will ugly at the Garden.
I imagine that the drink specials in Boston have already started. Game 7 will be one to remember, go B's!
Although for various reasons I'd prefer to see St Louis win, it's quite likely the damage to the area around Boston Gardens ( I like that name better than TD) will be less if the Bruins win.
I can almost picture the rioting, overturned police cars on fire, if Boston loses. ESPECIALLY if the refs blow another game changer type call.

Friend Geno, it's 'Garden', not 'Gardens', if I may. Common mistake. This is but one Bostonian's opinion, but win or lose, I don't think there'll be any rioting in the city after the game. Boston fans can get pretty rabid and all, but this is a town that is plenty familiar with the thrill of victory and agony of defeat, as it were. People will be in the streets one way or another, but burning cruisers and rioting? Nah. Not our style. Plus, if any nonsense like that starts, the BPD will without a doubt happily go old school. Most of those boys ain't afraid of putting wood and steel to any unruly clown brigade, especially right downtown. Go Bs!
It's the award that the winners get after a competition played on frozen water. You folks have your gaudy dinner plate sized belt buckles and bejeweled saddles for rodeo champs. Same idea.

k_g,
How's the weather over there on the E Coast? And your lovely wife is doing well, you guys are eating tasty foods, and the dogs get to go to the beach on occasion, right?
Apologies for the plurality in the name. Mea culpa.
Yeah, I'm sure some of those Boston po-po's would love to instill some respect for authority in any hooligan that gets in the way of order. Especially some of those 3rd and 4th generation Irish coppers. I'm sure the city will do fine. Some of the drunker fans might torch a few trash receptacle, win or lose. Let's all hope for peaceable celebrations.

Can you imagine the size of the belt buckle they'd need if they issued the same one every year for over 100 years?
A saddle? After all these years there isn't even a Percheron or Clydesdale be able to wear one after 123 years.
All of the sports bars in St Louis will be going through withdrawal after tonight. It’s been like 2 solid months of St. Patric Day partying every two or three days. Anyway it’s been a great ride this spring I just hope it is a really well played contest and at the end let the chips fall where they may.

Hockey is the only sport you can absolutely dominate the opposing team and still come up short.
Look at the Blue's losses in this series and you see the same thing. They played very well. Lots of time in the attack zone and lots of shots on goal, but Bruins have gotten it done when they had to.
Congratulations to the St Louis Blues! Stanley Cup Champions! New England was hoping for a Red Sox/Patriots/Bruins trifecta, but alas we came up one game short.
Congrats to the Blues They played well but Binnington was awesome
Someone tell me how he didnt get the Conn????
Hank
Hank,
50+ years of watching the NHL and I'll never figure out how they work that crap out.
Kid goalie comes in, saves a season so the Blues can even get to the playoff, then saves them from elimination in every series against supposedly better teams, has excellent GAA and Save%, is the first rookie goalie to win 16 games (and therefor the Cup) and they give the Smythe to the offensive leader.
Everyone (with any smarts, probably even 'flave) knows that defense wins cups and it starts in net.
Binnington got screwed, not to diminish O'Reilly's importance, but Binnington got screwed.
Don't forget Binnington's record after a loss. And the Blues road record this postseason.
The refs unfortunately are going to be the deciding factor I'm afraid.
Geno
Damn, did I nail it or what? I musta had my prognosticator hat on the day I posted that!
Right on all three accounts.
Binnington damn near pitches a shutout.
Blues win ANOTHER roadie!
And the refs decided that game by not deciding it.
Geno
PS, sucks that all we have now is to follow the trade mill and contract negotiations to see who ends up where and what our favorite teams will look like next season.
Now the Blues have to hope the kid doesn't fall victim to the dreaded sophomore slump.
I think he must have worked with the goalie coach the last few days before last night on closing up that 5 hole. He made some great saves when the Bruins were trying to beat him there, which they had done with some regularity prior.
Congrats to the Blues on a well deserved Stanley Cup win, they showed up big time in game 7 on the road. But, how is Binnington not the Conn Smythe winner? O'reilly was pretty good, but without Binnington in the net, St Louis does not win the Stanly cup.
The Conn Smythe Trophy is awarded to the player for his performance during the post season play in total, not just the last game of the Stanley Cup. I think we all know that that young goalie won last nights game for them.

Written like an old school, proper sports fan--one with class. Well said, and congrats to your team. After so many years without taking the whole enchilada and finally winning is something special. Trust me, I grew up about 3 miles from Fenway Park and know the drill. Our Bruins were outplayed and the better team won. Enjoy the win.

You make my point perfectly. Binnington was the difference in every series they played in the playoffs. He came up huge in every big game.
I think not having the best stats of goalie didn't help, I also think being a rookie didn't help. You make a case for O'Reilly with leading point total and tying Gretzky with goals in 4 straight in the 7 th round.
Besides the Calder Trophy will ease his pain. He has to be a lock for that.

I sure hope he gets that Calder.
Yes, his playoff numbers weren't spectacular, but wins count, no? And in looking back at previous Conn Smythe winners his playoff numbers beat Patrick Roy on 2 of the times he won the trophy I believe.
Geno
PS Bettman looked a bit dweebish again, eh?
PPS kamo_gari, next year Sharks v Bruins....................book it!
Who's going to look after that dipstick when Chara is gone? I hope Nancy Boy Brad gets smeared in the corner and they have to scrape him off the ice with a spatula.

Better watch it. In a couple of years he might be playing for the Blues.
Hockey's that way sometimes. Ever hear of a guy named Connie Madigan? Played 20 games for the Blues in 72, then 5 in the playoffs. Long time WHL player for Portland. We San Diego Gulls fans hated him. Nasty hip check, and quite the ruffian. After his time with the Blues he came to San Diego and was loved!
Some players one would rather have on"their" team than on the opposition bench for sure. Marchand is one of them for sure.
