Floated the river today in search of early summer steel when a 22 round come screaming by our heads..Some moron was shooting in his back yard in what I would call a "unsafe manor"... He did come down and apologize..

Had to be close cause the microphone picked it up plain..

BTDT, Unnerving for sure. When it happened to me it was a neighbor kid being a dumbass, I had a talk with him and the next day he did it to the next neighbor. I called the cops that time and the problem ceased.

Back in high school. a group of us was ice skating on a pond in a brushy area by the local river. A bullet sailed directly over our heads, maybe 20 to 30' up, as a guess. It wasn't moving very fast and we didn't hear a shot so I assumed it was from a .22. It sure got our attention and we did a lot of yelling. Minutes later, we heard a car drive off.

I can relate.

Young lady was driving along, at night, up at Water Falls/Cedarloo when a bullet from no one knows where came through her window, through her throat and into her boyfriend next to her. She died. No solution as to its origin.

That's the very reason I've never been into squirrel hunting with a .22 rimfire. Our archery deer season and squirrel hunting seasons overlap and since most all archery deer hunters hunt from concealed tree stands or ground blinds and wear camouflage clothes which would make them difficult to see if they were in the line of fire beyond a squirrel, especially when thee's still leaves and greenery present. Granted, the odds of something bad ever happening are extremely slim but it still isn't worth the even a minuscule risk to me.
