Well, they ran yet another blood test, and I saw the Urologist this week, and I'm relieved to be able to say I'm still cancer free. The radiation treatment did it's job. Always a stressful few days leading up to the visit with the doc. Good luck to all our families and friends currently dealing with this horrible disease.

That is great news. I had base of tongue last summer and 35 and six chemo. It was brutal but with faith and family it turned out fine. I am cancer free but like you I do not like the
follow up visits.

We will include you in our prayers.

My PSA has always been high, three biopsies, but no cancer yet. The time leading up to office visits are extremely worrisome. I’m due to go back in December.

Thanks for the kind replies guys. I can't imagine that there's many of us on here that haven't been touched by the Grim Reaper (cancer) in one way or another. I lost my mother and mother in law both to this terrible disease, and I hope I don't add any more to that list, including my self.

Having been through this, it makes one appreciate a beautiful sunrise much more. My wife has been a rock by my side in this journey. I don't honestly know if I could be so strong if the tables were reversed. The radiation treatments are tough. They really take a lot of the wind out of your sails while going through them. I'm lucky in that my work isn't physical, (I manage a Vision Center for Walmart) and that I have a great crew and support system at work. I missed a lot of work while going through this, and my guys kept the shop up and running while I was gone. Other Vision Center Managers in our district stepped up and kept things going too. I'm lucky to have such a good crew and friends. I'm also lucky to have the support of the fine folks here at the Fire. So many of you stepped forward to stay in touch when I was sick from the radiation. It's good to have such fine folks in my life, and I really appreciate it.

If anyone finds themselves going through this, please feel free to look me up. I'd be happy to help in any way possible. In this day and age, at worst case scenario, I'm just a plane ticket away, and would gladly lend a hand to any of our members however I could.

Thanks again guys. Your thoughts are really appreciated.

Glad you made it. It takes a long time to heal. I experienced injuries because I weak. I did things like hurt my back because I was not physical for a year or so. So be strong over the healing time.

That's great news Jeff!

I've been cancer free for 4 years so far.
Let's pray it stays that way for all of us who have been through it.

Glad to hear others are beating this scourge too. Congrats sir.

Congrats. Been there right alongside you. Undetectable” is a magic word around our house 😊

After high, accelerating psa and three biopsies, Gleason 7 was found in Jan ‘17 and had surgery in March. By April ‘18, psa was “detectable” and accelerating again so had 38 radiation treatments June through August. Since then, the last three psa tests have been <0.010 or “undetectable”😊. The stress level naturally goes up as time for another psa test approaches.

Like yours, my wife has been right there during this whole battle. Sometimes I think it’s been harder on her than me; it would have been really tough by myself.
