James Bond fans wanting 007 to be either black or female are in for a double treat — with the movie spy about to be played by a black woman, according to a report on Sunday.
British actress Lashana Lynch, 31, will be introduced as the new 007 in what is being described as a ‘popcorn-dropping moment’ in the franchise’s 25th movie that is currently being filmed, according to the Mail on Sunday.
But it is not a complete do-over — with her just taking James Bond’s secret agent number after he retires from MI6, the report states.
Bond himself will still be played by Daniel Craig — and will still adhere to his old-fashioned macho characteristics, an insider told the UK paper.
‘Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed,” a source told the Mail.
The insider called it a “pivotal scene” when Bond is called back from retirement and introduced to Lynch as the new 007.
“It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman,” the source told the Mail.
Londoner Lynch, who played the fighter pilot Maria Rambeau in “Captain Marvel”, is hoped to modernize the franchise criticized by many as being too dated and sexist.
“This is a Bond for the modern era who will appeal to a younger generation while sticking true to what we all expect in a Bond film,” the source said.

Bond hasn't been the same since Roger Moore did his last one. IDK if Moore was better or Connery was, but they both defined the character. IMO Live and Let Die was the best Bond ever. The rest of Connery's and Moore's efforts were watchable, but they could have stopped after Live and Let Die and the series would have been excellent.

Barbara Broccoli is the producer of the bond series and she inherited it from her father Albert. It’s made her family rich beyond belief and she’s very protective of it. I don’t see her chancing killing the golden goose over political correctness.

I always liked Timothy Dalton, "License to kill" and "The Living Daylights". The stories were a little weak, but I thought he was a pretty good Bond. For me he's just below Connery and above Bronsnon and Moore. I don't care for Craig for some reason. Too dark and brooding, I guess. But let's get down to brass tacks here. There are three things involved in every James Bond movie that draw men in, and one thing for women. Men like the action, the gadgets and the Bond Girls. Ladies like the handsome, sexy James Bond. A female Bond writes off two of the four without a second glance. Pretty damn stupid to mess with a winning formula on account of PC or anything else. But then lately, Hollywood hasn't exactly been considered a cerebral capital! 7mm
James Bond begin with Sean Connery and ended with Roger Moore...........period. I'll always give Connery a light nod, but Moore was every bit a good Bond as well.

Looking back on they way Lazenby portrayed Bond, I like it. His was a very good flick until it went '60s psychedelic. Other than that, it was a solid spy movie. Problem was, he wasn't Connery so he was doomed. Also, according to such sources as Dianna Rigg herself said Lazenby was a neophyte actor who hadn't yet learned his craft, since previous experience was modeling and a sprinkle of tv commercials. Evidently, he was beyond egotistical and an ass to work with.
Connery came back for Diamonds, but his age showed. Fans then started to accept it was time for a change.
Well; this is the 21st century and there just ain't gonna be no secret agent 007 that's a heterosexual, white male. Agent 007 must be anything but normal, and transgender'd would be a big plus along with the usual Hollywood resume enhancers like Gay.
One of the keys to the popularity of the Bond franchise was that Bond was a sex magnet to women. Don't even want to think how that would play out with what's he name.

As long as i ma concerned the franchise has been dead for many years now...Pierce Brosnan was the last JB. Daniel Craig is a stone face looking Britt that doesn't even fit the role. He came in and BMW went out. all the cool gadgets and toy went out. the essence of a spy movie was lost. i haven't been watching it for year.

Ian Fleming's bond was a clandestine operative in today's lingo. He was a womanizer who drank and smoked far too much - "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" starts out with him basically going to rehab. Even though he tried to forget them, the people he killed eventually started to weigh on him. He used the latest tools available for clandestine operations but that wasn't what he was all about. Cubby Broccoli turned him into a cartoon character and a parody of what Fleming created, but those movies did sell. As much as Craig is a typical anti-gun Brit he brought back the hard edge that Bond requires.

And the difference, the thing that had gone out of the stinking Mexican bandit, was greater than all Mexico.
Bond looked down at the weapon that had done it. The cutting edge of his right hand was red and swollen. It would soon show a bruise. Bond flexed the hand, kneading it with his left. This is actually the only move they could make. They last floated Idris Elba as the next bond. Pushback was SIGNIFICANT primarily due to him being black. So they were stuck, couldn't have Craig continue and save face, couldn't put up another white actor.....Hmmmm. Need a new plan.
She isn't the next Bond, in fact Craig is in the movie as Bond, a retired Bond, so no longer 007. She is a new spy, a new 007

The line "sharks with fricking lasers" was once popular on Slashdot. It sounds like a joke, but a never-made James Bond movie co-written back in the day by Sean Connery was actually going to feature robotic sharks carrying stolen NATO nukes in order to attack New York. Bond was going to stop the sharks inside the New York sewer system, waterski out of the sewers, paraglide up to the Statue of Liberty's head, then fight a Bond villain inside said head, with the villain's "blood trickling out of the Statue of Liberty's eye like tears" at the end of the fight. slashdot
