Had to put my little buddy Fletch (Fletcher) down yesterday. Brain cancer, left side. Made it to 16 1/2 years. He was a good boy. Trained to hand signals. Would die a thousand deaths before he'd disappoint you. Could not ask for a better companion.
Here's a great pic of him my good friends Sam Guy and his wife Elvie took when they watched him for me about 1 1/2 years ago when he was 15.
The 2nd pic is him as a puppy.
I will miss him terribly. See you on the Rainbow Bridge, buddy.
Durn sorry you had to put him down, at least you had a long run together. Little dogs kinda have a way of growing on you. Weinerdog man myself, Hildegarde was supposed to be the wife’s pup but me and her are pretty good buds.
Fletch looks like he was all you say he was. So sorry for your loss, it is never easy.
Sure hate to hear this.
RIP Fletch.
Condolences.... It's tough losing a family member and dogs qualify as that. Hope you were with him until the end. My last dog had to be put down at 12.5 yrs. old. I was cradling her head in my arms as she drifted off to sleep. But at least it was peaceful and painless for her. You'll always miss him but life will still go on.
Sorry to hear local_dirt.
That's rough duty.
For Fletch,
THE PATH BEYOND THE BEND
Have you ever walked along a path
And looked ahead of you
To where the road turned suddenly
And seemed lost awhile from view?
Think of your dear one living still
Where the road goes on without end
It is only WE who do not see
The path beyond the bend

Still missing my little buddy. Sorry you lost yours.
Having met Fletch on numerous occasions, I have say he was a great dog. We will miss his sense of humor, his playfulness, and his company.
dogs are the best friends we could have.
sorry for your loss !
We don't deserve a dog's love. Sorry to hear you lost your buddy. Lost ours in may. It's better but there were some rough days in between.
16+ is a hell of a run!
Sounds like you both were more than fortunate.
Condolences. They are just never here long enough. Good dog.
So Sorry, his puppy picture is heart warming. My condolence.
Thanls to all for the kind words.
The house feels empty, and bigger.
I just raised a glass to Fletch. RIP . I hate cancer.
i lost my sister a few years ago so i know how it feels, i would recommend a little puppy to give all that love and one day you will realize that you can find a pup to love again.
Greg, I’m so sorry to hear this.
A friend once told me the reason a dog’s life is so short, is because they love so much.
You’re in our thoughts.
Same age when I lost Chito. About same size. I was a big dog guy til he walked in the house. Hang in there LD. It's hard.
Sorry as well, looked like a real pal. You are correct about the empty feeling.
Sorry you lost your pal LD.
Good Boy Fletch, good boy.
The only problem with saying “sorry about that” is that if we never had to, it would mean you never had the little (or big) guy’s company to begin with. But I am sorry for these special creatures whose bodies are on a very shortened time-clock.
We are headed there soon with our little house sitter and I am already ruing the day.
