My Franchi Affinity 20 is my go to shotgun, everything from ducks to quail and a few geese and turkeys too. I call it my Baby Benelli. But if one of the Montfeltro's in 20 popped up for sale that low......I'd be all over that deal.

the affinity is not a baby benelli, two different recoil systems. My buddy and I have had nothing but issues with our affinity 20s. All franchi can tell us is that they need more break in time, cases of win aa heavy target, should have just spent that money towards something else. I will admit the affinity is a great fitting/pointing gun which drew me to it. I thought I was doing good by getting my son one instead of a cheaper 20ga auto. He gets aggravated with it also...its basically a single shot unless you are shooting heavy duck loads or turkey loads.

I wish I knew what the chances would be of getting a 12 and trading it in new for a 20.

I would actually prefer to have the Baretta than a Benelli.

benelli does sell a camo 20ga montefeltro, but its around 1000, I imagine it will put a hurting on the m2 sales.

I know the Affinity had a different recoil system. It’s quite similar to an M2 though in many ways and Benelli currently owns Franchi hence my nickname. I shoot any load from light 9’s to heavy lead loads and all the nontoxic and steel shot through mine with never a hitch. Sorry yours isn’t the same.

If you guys have $400 to spend, the Stoeger M3020 is the funnest little inertia shotgun you can get. It's a magic wand in 28", and ours have never bobbled on anything ever. The fact that we've never lubed, cleaned, or maintained it is a nice touch too.

Never shot a montefeltro but had shot an m2 how do they compare?

I recently picked up a 20ga Montefeltro Silver in excellent condition. One ported barrel, one standard. One high-grade AA walnut stock, one Comfortec stock (not that it needs it).

With all that's going on at home, I haven't had time to even take it out against a few clay targets.

Won't be long before quail and grouse season opens in Nevada, but if anyone wants to buy it, it hasn't become my favorite yet. Just realize it's going to cost a good deal more than the 12ga shown above.

Have had a LH SBE for about 5 years. My only shotgun. Mostly duck hunting and a few rounds of sporting clays. Zero issues. Finally got it properly set up for a south paw over the winter. Had an informal shoot here on the farm back in May. Felt kinda bad cleaning up on the grand kids and grand son-in-laws... Not really...

While the 12ga SBE does just fine, would not mind trying a lighter, handier, 20ga version similar to what I already have. Camo would be a plus, but, not a deal breaker.

I've had a 12 ga. MF with 26" barrel for several years and it points great. Baretta is a little softer and probably would stand up to competition better but the MF is nice. If you want 20 performance just shoot 1 oz loads.

Most 20 gauge shotguns are dimensionally smaller and weigh less. Handling and carrying characteristics are different.

The 12 ga versions are definitely built on a larger frame. Still, though, they are very light for a 12 ga and nice handling shotguns. My 20 ga Montefeltro has almost no recoil to speak of.

I have two H&K marked M1S90's in 12 gauge that have been flawless for the 25 or so years I've hunted them. A 20 gauge M2 or a Monty would be nice to have around.

Reviews say it jams, recoil is harsh and shooting it a lot will cause thumb pain? Anyone experiencing these issues?

Yes, if you don't allow it to hit your shoulder well, then it cannot function.
Yes, if you shoot monster magnums through it.
Yes, if you cannot figure out how to load without catching your thumb on the carrier.

All common "problems" that don't take much brainpower to solve. I would still buy a used M2 or SBEII at that price.
