Yes sir. CPR is useless 99 percent of the time, and questionable in the 1 percent when the person lives.
It is especially worthless in trauma cases and you have summed it up pretty well, makes you look like a good guy while pumping out any remaining blood.

I’m thinking that this guy was a known entity based on how quickly he wasn’t engaged. Likely not the first time that he had been encountered. But certainly the last.

They did their job. He refused to put the gun down and told them to back off which is a threat using a gun. It would have only taken a half second for him to turn the gun and they had no choice. There is time for talk and time for action. They acted and one less dirt bag is using up valuable O2.
