We had some of their $0.99, 5-ounce sirloins for supper. I was impressed. Very little excess fat, grilled up nicely, very good flavor.
Never heard of em.

no fat, i'll pass.
Posted By: 5sdad Re: Kwik Trip/Star Sirloin - 08/18/19
Probably regional - gas station/grocery/quick food.
Posted By: Dillonbuck Re: Kwik Trip/Star Sirloin - 08/18/19
I'm familiar with Quicktrip c-store/truckstops,
You get them there.

$.99/5 oz. That's $3/pound. Pretty cheap.

Prefer strip, ribeye, or Chuck steaks,
But have eaten some darn good sirloin.
Cooking past m-rare ruins them though.

I bought a few and made steak sandwiches with them.

They were already trimmed and tasted very good.

No, not "Q.T." or "Quick Trip". OP is referring to Kwik-Trip which is a chain of c-stores in southeastern Minnesota around the Minneapolis - St. Paul area. They may be located elsewhere, but that is where I know them from. Saw them advertised a couple of weeks ago when I was up there for a visit. Daughter's mother-in-law said they were quite good.

Fat is where it's at!

Kwik Trip stations are popping up all over - and they're very well done. I use 'em whenever I can - and that's 90% of the time...
We load up on these any time they run the sale. I've probably got 40 lbs. of them in the freezer right now. Where else can you get sirloin for $3.00 a pound?

Yep-no better way to ruin a good chunk of meat.

It's a little different business model from a typical convenience store. They carry more fresh fruit and veggies, meat too. They've always been known as a good stop for cheap bananas, and such, but now they are carrying more meats, and produce. We have several within 10 miles of us here and use them regularly. The also sell non oxygenated unleaded gas with I need for the boat, mowers, and chainsaw.
If y'all mean Quik Trip, they are the Cadillac of Convenience Stores. They are headquartered in Tulsa. They dominate the fuel scene in Kansas City. They have the cleanest and nicest stores with probably KumnGo coming in second.

Strangely, there are none in southeast Kansas. There used to be, but they've sold out to other, seedier stores. Guess there's not enough profit for them. The new ones and upgraded ones are called "QT Kitchens". They have decent food, for what it is. I had no idea they sold steaks.

They do have some good gas! I use the non-oxy all the time. We use them regularly. Funny, when I moved to WI in 1999, that was the only place I'd ever seen one. Now they're everywhere in MN and WI.
I love Kwik Trip, it's the only place I go.

The steak is hit or miss, I've had some that was great and some as tough as shoe leather.

All the Stuckey's around here have turned into Flea Markets.

Kwik Trip is a privately owned company based out of Lacrosse Wisconsin. All of their considerable store expansion is internally funded. Since they own their own creamery, high quality milk is my personal favorite. Their milk prices are always the lowest in town - usually by a wide margin. After that, their Glazers donuts are very good. Finally, they offer very low prices on potatoes, onions and bananas and meat. And don't forget - no fee ATM's! A week doesn't go by that I don't stop at a Kwik Trip.

Wow, send them to Pa.
Sheetz needs some competition, especially in pricing.

It must be a different chain. All the ones up here are branded Kwik Trip.

Kwik Trip and Quick Trip are 2 different companies. We now have a Kwik Star and a Kum &Go along with Casey's General Stores.

They resemble Braums Ice Cream and Dairy Stores. Good fresh meats, veg and very good milk and ice cream. Good grill works too.

Never heard of such a thing!

Are these sirloins individually packaged? Solution injected?

Or are they in a regular displace case type package?

Next time you're in Wolf Point stop by one of the two Agland c-stores.

I avoid Town Pump and pay a little more for beer AND they sell fresh steak!

$13-16/lb steak that is actually pretty damn good.

Pork and chicken as well. And bacon.....

They're sealed in plastic individually.
