It’s the stale stench of liquor and human waste that hits you first. Then it’s visual — row after row of dirty tarp tents crammed together on the sidewalk next to piles of rotting trash and broken appliances. There are half-dressed, drugged-out shells of people wandering aimlessly in the middle of the street. Some curse at cars. Others just stare. There are fights, prostitution and rodent burrows. This is the fabled Skid Row in Los Angeles and it’s a disaster.

Like several West Coast cities Fox News visited, Los Angeles is dealing with a homeless crisis. However, unlike the East Coast, LA can’t hide all of its homeless in shelters or low-income housing.

Failed liberal policies coupled with decades of neglect and mismanagement have turned an old problem into a modern-day nightmare. Some fear the City of Angels is at the point of no return and are angry at elected officials who talk a big game but rarely deliver.

“I don’t want to see them on camera anymore,” Marquesha Babers, who lived on Skid Row as a teenager, told Fox News. “I don’t want them to write any more articles about how much they care or how much they’re trying to change things. I want to see them do it.”

There are parts of the city that look like a third world country or worse.

What will it take for someone to do something about this?

Simple fix? Water cannons, or maybe enforce local laws about loitering. Tracked vehicles would move them on down the road as well.

Or, if one is inclined to be "green", have some trucks drive by dropping off hornet nests.

Is a man made problem and most likely has a man made solution. Nature can help of course.

I suggest the same solution that I would like to see here, kick out all foreign workers and severely limit taxpayer funded aid to those without work.

Please note that this does not include LEGITIMATE pensioners...and I stress legitimate as I can point to more than a few "pensioners" here that are healthier than I am.

They aren't going to vote themselves out of this. It's way too late for that.

They destroyed their lands and future. That is what they want for America. Let them rot in their lands.

What they need to do is outlaw tarps. That'll solve it. Or Tarp control. Force people who buy tarps to go through a background check where they must provide proof of a private residence.

I suspect that most of the tarps were pilfered, not bought.

Any one offer a solution? How could a republican make a difference? I'm thinking is way too far gone....there is no doubt the dem run government is to blame and all the west coast cities are suffering the same fate....
If I were a republican politition I wouldn't touch that place with a 10 ft pole....it would take 30 years to turn it around...if they would elect Donald trump mayor of LA I don't think he could change anything ...if so how? Maybe just a massive cut off of free stuff? They all just move to Portland...then Seattle...and on one on...

They've ignored too many of the safeguards that conservatives had in place for too long. SoCal is going bye-bye. I expect that within 10 years or so, they will have separated from the US-proper, and become part of Mexico again.
