You can have 4 people of your choice in camp with you. Who would you pick for an interesting group? Criteria: No relatives, no dieties. Must be 4 people you have known in person, so Davy Crockett and that sort of thing are out.

I picked Jorge, Pugs, Zeke, and Adolf Galland. Galland was an avid hunter/shooter and the stories we could get out of him would leave that group spellbound.

Pretty much the guys/gals I hunt with now and have for many years.
Posted By: jaguartx Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
KW, DocR, Barry, Hat, Mudhen and Sandbilly. And Kamo.
Posted By: Fireball2 Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
My grandpa Bert, my dad, both passed away. My friend John, and my wife so she could meet them.
Posted By: shawlerbrook Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
My dad, my Uncle Rock and my friends Garth and Rob. Now if we are talking celebs, Fred Bear, Heimo Korth, Dwight Schuh and G. Fred Asbell.
Posted By: stxhunter Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
my buddy Allan, docr, leighton, pat and a few others.

Fred Bear! THAT is a good one. I could grab him because I met him at the Bear factory when it was in Gaylord MI back in the 1960's. Fred would a great guy for camp.
Posted By: hatari Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
You guys have given me a whole new way to look at this. Maybe I'll put in for a second group.

Kamo gari - in charge of food
.458 - Phil can be in charge of the bears and story telling
.284LUV - Denny can bring the home brewed spirits
Buckstix - to bring the firearms. You guys wouldn't believe what good stuff he has
Posted By: 16bore Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
GeeDub, big stick, FredIII, and Judman.

I’d just sit on the couch....

Roger, for the beer and brisket!
Posted By: JGRaider Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
I think I'd go with GregW, ctsmith, and Judman. Jud is a stout sonofagun who would make a good pack mule. I don't think any of these guys would expect me to carry out my own game.

Well, you certainly went with a more constrained model than our PM so I feel no need to stick to one camp! grin

Bird Hunting - Hatari, Jorge and my buddy Zeke certainly in one group. On a 2nd group (we can meet back up at camp!) It would be my friends Roof, Sandy and Gnoahh.

Big game - John Barnsness, Rocky Raab and Ingwe plus the original group of friends.

Me, Myself, and I.

Can't think of a fourth right off the top of my head.

Usually, almost always hunt by myself.

Fewer camp arguments that way. Most trips at least. laugh

PS, irfubar, how's that for unassailable logic!

Exceptional hunting companions all!!!

Posted By: Jim_Conrad Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
Oh, I see its just people you have met.

Just my kids. Thats who I would pick.
Posted By: FieldGrade Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
I'd like to hunt with my old Pete dog one more time.
Posted By: lvmiker Re: Dream camp - 08/21/19
From the CF? Scenarshooter, Atse, Tinman and Shrapnel. I'd just be quiet and follow them to the good stuff.
And Deflave and huntsman22, and Mathman to teach me to count.

Are you a problem?

Will you become a problem?

If so, remember, we're in the woods, I'm armed for hunting at a minimum .................................and my truck always has a shovel in it. eek

Usually though, I welcome stumblers with a cup of something warm. Might be from a can of Campbell's chicken soup, but it'll be free.

Geno

PS, you're not a problem most likely. And you know not to be because problems are dealt with differently in the woods than they are in civilization. wink

Cook?

Heck, it's usually a can of soup, some bread or rolls, and a granola bar for dessert.

Drink = water for me, coffee (delicious brown flavored water) in the AM. Maybe, if I'm not too tired, a package of hot chocolate mix in.....................water.

I'd sit by GeeDub's cooler. He's always got some interesting beverages.

That would be a show to watch...someone would need to run the camera....
Posted By: JCMCUBIC Re: Dream camp - 08/22/19
For me, it would be my father, his best friend, and my two sons.
Posted By: Pugs Re: Dream camp - 08/22/19
Let me alter Hatari rules slightly (the man is bribable with good bourbon and red wine and won't mind) -

How about your hunting party of choice including people you never met?

- Teddy Roosevelt - for the history and knowledge
- Patrick F McManus - for the stories
- Jim Carmichael - for the rifle stuff
- Ted Trueblood - for the fishing and hunting stories.
Posted By: hatari Re: Dream camp - 08/23/19
Might as well throw Havilah Babcock and Nash Buckingham for Birdfest. Hemmingway, Ruark, Selby and Phillip Percival for Africa.
Posted By: kaywoodie Re: Dream camp - 08/23/19
Would be interesting to hunt with the guy who could show me how they fluted a Clovis.
Posted By: 19352012 Re: Dream camp - 08/23/19
Pick any 4 guys from the fire and have a great time. Nobody is the same on the internet. Shoot, the guys you regularly hunt with probably piss you off at times.
Posted By: old_willys Re: Dream camp - 08/24/19
They are all long gone now, as a child my dad pasted away and these 3 men made sure my younger brother and I hunted and fished.

First my brother Bob who was 12 years my senior and took me every weekend of small game and deer season, my Uncle Charlie the hunter with the most big racks killed in the county back in the day he worked in NJ but came up and took my younger brother and I every chance he could.

Lastly my uncle Conrad "coon dog", thru him we experienced the joy of coon hunting on a cool summer night! When he pasted away his Potter county cabin went to my 2 cousins, my brother and I. Uncle Coon had polio really bad as a kid but it didn't stop him from hunting, fishing or working.

Bob (Kaywoodie}, RC {JaguarTX}, Roger {StxHunter}, Barry {RockinBbar}, Mike {Birdwatcher}, APDDSN0864 Ed {too many numbers} and Dan {DigitalDan}

The story’s told would be mucho entertaining and the humor PRICELESS!

So, whose idea was civilization anyway? Seems a bit overrated to me.

BTW...I figure I'd be happy to hunt with just about anyone who'd tolerate me. I never met anyone face-to-face off a hunting forum I didn't like...except for this one hobbit-like creature a few years back. Creepy dude.

I think choice entertainment would be had if hunting with Elmer Keith and Jack O'Connor for bookends, and Skeeter Skelton with Dean Grennell for comic relief. I cannot begin to imagine the discussions around the campfire.

Realistically, I'd be happy to share a camp with any of the guys I met at Quemado a few weeks back.

Dream camp. Since its only in a dream I know them... a 65"+ Kudu, a 135"+ buffalo, a full mane lion, and Kate Upton.

Hunting with Skeeter Skelton and Elmer Keith would have been EPIC!!!
I went to College at TAMU with one of ole Skeeter’s cousins. He told some pretty good stories about him.
