Just now walked home from the stadium, The Citadel is demolishing Western Carolina. I think it was 27 or 28 to 3 when we left and the cannons fired again as we walked across campus.
In case you didn't see it..... Ga tied game with about 2 minutes left in 4th. SC tried long field goal and missed giving Ga. ball back with about 45 sec left on clock. Went into overtime. First OT, SC intercepted Ga pass..... SC missed field goal to win. 2nd OT SC kicked field goal for 20-17 lead. Ga. missed field goal. SC wins!

First major upset of the season.
I saw the missed FG by SC before it went into OT. Missed the rest and the OT Win by SC.
Michigan lucked out on another one this week. Just wait till they play the big names. Can't win against the big teams and play like that.
PSU and OSU will be guaranteed losses. MSU likely a loss And they are due to have mistakes bite them good against a fluff team.
5-6 losses are on the horizon for Jimmy.
MSU another loss for Michigan? How do you figure that? MSU is one of the worst teams in the B1G again. They have at least 2 more losses on the season. How do you figure they lucked out winning by 2 touch downs and a field goal?
PSU and OSU...and ND will be tough for the wolverines. But they will still have a better year than ole sparty.
Michigan is 1 and 1 on ranked teams this year. PSU and ND will be the tell tail. If they can pull out a tough one in happy valley on the road it changes their season and gives them a boost with ND on the horizon . 1 loss to a damn good (perhaps B1gs best) Wisconsin doesn't make for a lost season as much as you may hate them.
Georgia wasnβt, isnβt, the #3 team. They have looked suspect all year. Offense just isnβt productive enough. I think Fields would be a better choice than Fromm.
Smart has been a great coach in some respects and subpar in others. Weβll see how he finishes the season.
Yep, They have a lot of good teams, some βveryβ good, yet to go through! They are way overdue to beat βbamaβ! Iβm ready to see it happen! memtb
Bad Call against LSU....... Didn't call offense hands to facemask..... 1st and goal FL.
I'm going to guess that you're talking about the roughing the passer call for a "low hit" that wiped out what would have been a game ending interception by LSU.
It was a terrible call. The defender clearly hit the QB in the upper thigh / hip area. The rule book states in Article 9b: When an offensive player is in a passing posture with one or both feet on the ground, no defensive player rushing unabated shall hit him forcibly at the knee area or below. The defensive player also may not initiate a roll or lunge and forcibly hit this opponent in the knee area or below. [emphasis added]
The hit was nowhere near the QB's knee. The rule says at the knee or below, not at the waist or below.
Thankfully it didn't affect the outcome of the game.
Aside from that LSU looked good. Florida had averaged less than 9 points given up per game. The highest scored on them all year was 21 points; LSU scored twice as many. The defense gave up more points than I'd like, but despite playing more than 38 minutes, they were able to stop Florida when it counted. Geaux Tigers!
It's a bad weekend-Ohio State didn't get to beat up on anyone again. A silver lining-the Gophers won again. Maybe Minnesota can make a little noise this year.

I know it's all water-under-the-bridge, but it looked to me like he was blocked into the QB. Also, just to the left of the QB, the offensive lineman was holding the facemask of the LSU player. Like you said, glad it didn't affect the outcome.
I will preface my remarks by saying that LSU is my second favorite team and I really like Coach βOβ. Texas A&M was a favorite before they hired Jimbo. Now, not so much...
The Bama offense will be a challenge for the LSU defense as you noted. The LSU QB will be facing much better cornerbacks than the Gators had.
It will be quite the Tussle in Tuckylookie. Roll Tide..
My brother Jeff Lewis was captain of the Junkyard Dogs in 1976, and won the SEC that year.
Yesterday afternoon I sent him this email. I am just trying to help:
Jeff you are the highest ranking warrior. You are a SEC warrior! You are Samurai. Naturally, you cannot live with the shame that has been visited upon you today. The only answer is to take your long sword, and commit seppuku.
Before the Edo period (1600-1867), Seppuku was done in a less formal way and with a more painful effect compared to the more formal ritual during the Edo period. The samurai will use either a Tachi (longsword), Wakizashi (short sword) or Tanto (knife) to cut his gut and slice his stomach horizontally. He would then remove the blade from his stomach, and stab himself in the throat, or fall from a standing position with the blade positioned against his heart.
That's what makes our conference different from y'all's. If Bama holds serve I'm thrilled,if we stumble and the Bayou Bengals raise the big prize I'm still tickled. That means that these other conferences are found lacking and no backroom shady deals can deny us. Wisconsin looks good Okrahoma Osu Climpson(Auburn with a lake) Notre Dames all good teams...but the Sec reings supreme. Us.We.Our. All the media bias the talking heads the Twitter verse Facebook exploding hatred is for naught. Ask Brian Kelly how RammerJammer goes.
Neither Bama nor Clemson has played a team ranked in the top 20 this year. Yet they are ranked 1 and 2. I think they are both outstanding teams, but I think there is a legitimate argument that LSU should be ranked #1 right now.

For the life of me I will never understand how your defense holds someone scoreless through 3 quarters, then you decide to change your scheme. BAM 14 points hung on your ass in 5 minutes. Pro and college teams do it all the time. It never works out well.

Just did a quick calculation for Okahoma St. with two games to go in the regular season Big 12 . . . If oSu and Baylor win out, and Texas loses their final game to Texas Tech, the Cowboys will play Baylor for the Big 12 Championship. Simple.

It could happen..... Not. π
This^^^
Texas will beat Tx Tech easily. They hate the Red Raiders almost as much as they used to hate us Aggies.
I think even Kentucky beat somebody in football today. It was on TV but I wasn't watching it. However,...every now and then my wife would squawk out about something that happened.
If they did,...there's probably a fuggin' riot going on in Lexington right now.
The Ole Miss quarterback has run for two touchdowns.....canβt remember exactly, but around 60 yards and 50 yards! That kid is fast!!! The way theyβre playing.....hell, I could run for yardage! memtb

Amazing how much time Hurts has to throw when holding isn't called in the backfield over and over.
Yep. OU Line holding like a mofo on every play!
Nothing new there. They are coached to hold on every play, because the coaches know the refs will not call it on every play. Been that way for decades at OU.

Well, that knocks oSu out of contention for the Title. If Texas wins out and Baylor loses to Kansas, the Horns play OU for the title. Otherwise, it is OU vs Baylor in a rematch.

Hahahaha....I literally spit a drink water I laughed so hard when I read this. My goodness but you have a lot of butt-hurt about OU in you.
Hawks looking to be spoilsports ... 20-3 yardbirds over gophers
I expected it. Looks like Minnesota was a pretender.
Pretender? Really?
Minnesota lost a close game on the road to a ranked team and they're pretenders? Their kicker was injured and as a result they tried some long fourth downs when normally they would have been kicking field goals. They tried and missed a field goal and an extra point - and lost by 4 points.
They are now 9-1. They'll likely beat Northwestern, which will leave them 10-1. Then they'll play Wisconsin at home. If they beat Wisconsin, which is quite possible, they'll win their division and play in the Big 10 championship game and a good shot at the Rose Bowl. If they don't they'll end up 10-2 with a premium bowl game. For real.

I would repeat the old joke about Ok getting the best Texans money can buy but I would probly piss off a great fire guy.
How the hell does OU keep getting the super great coaches?

As an OU fan, it pains me to admit youβre right. If the Sooners didnβt have Texas talent on that roster,....well, theyβd be Kansas. Of course, a man could make an argument that only through the greatness of Norman do those kids shine. Texas seems to recruit a TON of talent and yet falls flat pretty regularly. Hard to figure...

Yep! Saw it many times past games.
Bitter...party of two. Your table at the seat of Big 12 irrelevance is ready.
I get it. I feel the same way every time I watch the Sooners get hammered in a title or playoff game...which is EVERY time since 2002. I know your pain. I just donβt try and convince myself the other team is βcheatingβ.
We all have our coping mechanism I guess. I drink whiskey and curse at my lab. You might give that a try sometime instead.

OrangeOkie is famous for holding a grudge. Every year he posts a complaint about Oklahoma State not getting picked for the National Championship game - in 2011. I use it as a sign that it's time to clean out the gutters and prepare the house for winter.
Ohier sure don't look at being a top 6 team. They surely ain't in the class as LSU. Look at their weak schedule compared to LSU or Alabama.
LSU yes ... Outside of LSU, Alabama has had a much weaker schedule than OSU.
You may want to check out your statement. Alabama has played two ranked teams and Ohier one. Bama still has to play top ten rated Auburn and the SEC conference game will be against a rated team. Big 10 is weak this year, (In my opinion).

Unless LSU loses against Ark and Tx A&M, Bama isn't going to the SEC championship game.

Bama has played LSU (#2) and A&M (#24). OSU has played MSU (#25), Wisco (#12), and PSU (#8). Iβm no Ohio State fan, but give them their due.
Texas is totally imploding at the mud holing Baylor is laying on them. Totally undisciplined. Points directly at the head coach Tom Herman. 24-3 7:33 left in the 4th. Baylor QB Charlie Brewer out of the game on concussion protocol.

Yep. Red McCombs should have kept his nose of the hiring of the "new" coach. Tom is quite the talker...

That is my impression as well Ed. When they lost to Iowa St last week, Herman was asked if he thought he had been "out coached." "No, I wasn't out couched," he said. "Our players were prepared." He is definitely going to be on the hot seat after this season. All hat and no cattle don't fly down in Austin.

At least heβs better than the βCoachβ they had before him.
Dont know if you remember or not, but Coach O got the LSU job because Herman chose Tx over LSU.
Didnβt know that. Lucky for LSU !
Oh yeah, Herman was doing really good at Houston and LSU really wanted him. Thank goodness he chose Tx. and that left Coach O for LSU. Coach O was made the interim coach when they fired Les Miles and O did a good job. Lots of people wanted O for head coach.
Tx offered Herman way more money than LSU and he took it. Cant blame him, I don't guess. I think he makes around 7M and Coach O around 4M. Of course there is probably incentives that raise both of those salaries.

Hernan wonβt be collecting those incentives this year!

LOL! He might better tighten up. I doesn't look good for a coach to make the kind of money he makes and lose like he has.
You see it? I saw it. The announcers saw it. And they both remarked on it. I'm not the Lone Ranger.
I've already said I want OU to go all the way and take it all a few times, but not like this.
Just like they saw Dez Bryant make TWO football moves before he hit the ground and lost the ball, when the ground cant cause a fumble.
So they later called it a completion. Why? Because too many people knew it was and rather than let fans know they were crooked they preferred they think they made mistake. Hey, it's not important, except for the money.
Maybe you arent capable of remembering how rare it is for announcers to tell how the play went down before the replay crew gives the final verdict?
Maybe you think we ended up with an unconstitutional Fed Reserve and open borders and muzzy immigration and 3% of the population in 50% of the commercials with white chicks and $21 trillion in debt and an illegal coup effort by sheer coincidence.
Maybe you think the SS went for a coffee break when JFKs car slowed to round the corner. Maybe you think it was a coincidence GH Bush was on the corner of the Book Repository when JFK drove by and couldnt later remember where he was when he watched Kennedy get shot.
Maybe you think it was a coincidence Bush headed Zapata Oil, a CIA front operation for a few years and then was suddenly the head of the CIA?
Yeah, well, I dont. Maybe folks like you are why this country has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.
Come on MM, tell me how the Jewbie Fed Reserve that bilks us out of billions yearly by their fiat currency money changing schemes came about by pure accident.
At the risk of drifting the thread back to college football....
Earlier in the year I expressed concern about Tennessee's chances to go to a bowl game this year when they got off to a disastrous 1-4 start. Well, they won 5 out of their last 6 games (the loss was to Alabama) and will be bowl eligable after all. Congratulations on their turning their season around.
OU 20 oSu 13 at the half. With Alabama losing, OU will need some help to get in to the playoffs. They will obviously have to get past oSu then Baylor in the Big12 championship game, then root for LSU to beat Georgia in the SEC championship game, Virginia to beat Clempson in the ACC championship game, or Wisconsin to beat tOSU in the B1G championship game. That should open up a path to the 4th slot, just ahead of Utah.
How about LSU's 50-7 thumping of Texas A&M? Between the selection committee demoting LSU to #2 and the bitterness from the officiating at last years 7 overtime game, where the officials gave Texas A&M at least three do-overs, LSU was motivated. T A&M didn't stand a chance. LSU scored enough points to win in the first 8 minutes of play. The offense was on fire, the defense was stifling and LSU was overpowering.
