Wife and I had this discussion over dinner the other night. If for any reason Trump does not run for a second term, (health, family, impeachment, fed up with the media, whatever), who gets the nomination? Dems have a clown show but without Trump I'm not convinced the GOP has another standout candidate.

They don't need one. Trump has the power of incumbency. The only time an incumbent loses the WH is in a bad economy. Hoover, Carter, GHWB. Otherwise, even unpopular Presidents get re-elected. GWB and Obama being 2 such examples. GWB won 2000 by a few hanging chads, if you recall, but easily beat Kerry in 2004. Obama walked over Romney even after the voters threw the Dems out of the House and Obamacare was proving to be the disaster forecasted.

If Trump stroked out tomorrow, the GOP would run Pence. Kasich would stick his nose back into things only if Trump died in office.
Kasich is a fu^ckin' idiot & wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell.......................just sayin'.

MM
Pence is it. I wouldn't want anybody that has run for Pres. and lost before.
The local Utah BS news organization is running an article about the “friends of Romney” wanting him to run against Trump. There selling merchandise etc. Flipping idiots.
Mitch McConnell, cause it's his "turn". Like Bob Dole.

And give away the election
Voting record. Its simple really.
Pence, Haley, or one of the current governors. Lots of possibilities.

Would think, they would look for a Republican to run, not that fool.
The conclusion my wife and I reached is they would run Pence but it is frightening that no one stands out as a qualified leader when our party should be producing several individuals capable of leading our country. Our political offices have become the home of career politicians that have no idea what it means to be a leader let aloneness the leader of a great nation. Pence is from my home state but I'm not sure I would follow his lead in a crisis.
Matt Bevin would be my choice.
Casper Milquetoast Sen. Mitch McConnell gimme a break are you kidding, no chance in h ell that POS would win.
Pat Buchanan.
I like Nikki Haley. Strong woman who gave the UN fits. She covers the minority side and the female side and the experience side. But as in all things she has to lay her cards on the table like everyone else to she if she is a candidate people could support.
Tulsi Gabbard.

Her awesomeness knows no party affiliation.

Nikki Haley would be the choice if you want to continue America's never ending wars in the Middle East.

Very few voters do.

Really? You know that she wants to take your guns, right?
Ted Cruz was the last man standing against Trump. Dunno if he could ever overcome the Zodiac Killer label, but he’d sure as hell never lose a debate.

Yes....it was a dig at all the "conservatives" that gush over her.

I can't believe Utah even let Romney back into the state.........

Mush less elected him to the Senate.
The stupidity runs deep in the state of Utah. Especially where politics are concerned and if you’re of the faith you can do no wrong.

Pence is almost as exciting as oatmeal.
I'd vote for my dog....she's brighter than any Democrat running today and most Republicans too

I think the best one can say of her is that she has very, very slightly more sense than most of the other democrat presidential candidates. That's not saying much.

So did Hillary Clinton . Lol

Oatmeal is exciting, Cream of Wheat is another story.

If there was another candidate, the country would be screaming for him/her now. Everyone is wondering what the hell Trump will think of next.

Just think of all the air time lost by CNN without him. They want him as bad as anyone.
Sarah Palin
Donald Trump Jr.

We’re talking original flavor; the stuff so bland they don’t even put it in the variety pack anymore. No maple & brown sugar or cinnamon and spice ...
A yellow dog would get my vote.

They're the people who are against Trump pulling the troops out of the middle east. You can see them being interviewed on CNN and MSNBC.

The default would be Pence but I think I’d rather see Trey Gowdy or Greg Abbott

Nikki Haley would have her share of supporters as well.

Anyone who got elected and tried to do the right things for the country would get subjected to the same treatment that Trump is getting.

That's the message that the Communists in America is sending to anyone who attempts to challenge the ruination of the country.

They will be under attack the entire time they're in office.

We need more than one.
Another one that likes Nicki Haley, I like Jeb & Romney but they won't run and can't get elected, Codoleza Rice would be another great one.

They would run who they are, a RINO and an embedded member of the swamp.
Jeff Sessions
Haley. She would win in a landslide against any of the democrats.

Rand is as sound on the issues as they come. He is also sound ethically. If you really want to move forward in this country as opposed to just slow the slide, that is what you need, fustest and mostest. He is willing to stand his ground also. The problem is taking ground. I don't know if he has the fight in him and the lawnmower incident may illustrate that.

People think the biggest problem we face is socialism, communism, what not. It isn't and never has been. The biggest problem is and has always been too much money in too few hands. The biggest part of that problem is not what many think either...a few living the high life while others starve. The biggest part of the problem is a few elitists using their money to good effect on old human nature, to just buy control of everything. That's what you have today and communism as well as its claimed counterpart, fascism are just the political means to that end.
Jeb and Romney??? Really??? That sir tells me all I need to know about you. Carry on troll.

I wanna keep Mitch right where he is. Ramming through conservative judges will prove to be a much bigger win than we realize, as time goes by.

Everyone wants to rag on McConnell, but he is the reason we don't have a Liberal Left Supreme Court now. No way the Democrats could figure a way around him for an appointment vote. I've voted for him every chance I've had to. Of the people in congress today, Lindsey Graham probably makes more sense than anyone else I've listened to.

Ol' Booger Eatin' Ted.......
If not Trump who would Republicans run? Nobody, because (like last time) the rest are trying to operate as if it is still the 80's, Reagan and Carter, or the Watergate era.
There IS no-one else who can take on the commies. Who understands the dynamics of social media, the outlook of forgotten Americans, that world leaders are just humans looking to make a deal? One guy. Everyone has too much party ideological baggage that comes before taking care of business.
I don't really care.

I would vote for a stinking horse turd before I voted for ANY democrat.
