Howdy folks!
Took the time out to do some ballistic testing on some common varmint projectiles after reports (and what we’d seen) of varmageddon a not expanding. So on our last hunt we got stuck into some gel shooting with the 6-06 and 243.

Hope you all enjoy!
Thanks for posting the video!

Welcome to the 'Fire !

Thanks! Been skimming the forum for years only just decided to sit by the fire wink
Welcome aboard. Thanks for your beneficial input.

I used to load the 70 grain BT in a 243. My old Nosler manual claimed around 3600 FPS if I recall. This was back in the 90’s.

Welcome to the Fire Ozranger!
Loaded a bunch of 55 gr (.243) Nosler SHOTS in my 6x45...

SD & BC suck and accuracy was only 0.5"-.75", but those puppies cook... IIRC 3,640 FPS

Thanks for posting... good stuff
Denis only has a 22” barrel and we worked off the ADI data. I think it’s amazing the difference 500fps makes. That 6mm-06 is an absolute hammer. I’ll go a 1-12 though next time I reckon to make it just a tad more explosive than the 1-14. Going for fast and flat with the 70s vs heavier stuff. Purely a long range dog gun 👍

Next wildcat builds are a 22 Creed and a 7 WSM or something stupidly overbore probably, haha can’t help myself!

I’ve never actually seen the “shots” marketed here, but the 55 gr varmageddon shot very accurately in our 2 rifles 👍
Welcome to the 'fire. Thanks for sharing that. My favorite part was the cat at the 12 second mark.
Thanks for the effort and time in posting the video and welcome to the chats. Your findings are of interest. Although I do not use these lighter bullets on deer (using only 120 grain and higher), I do use those TNT and Varmageddons in. 22 cal on varmints and Javelina, shooting the vary fast/flat .220 Howell cartridge. They work/expand quite well used in this way. Thanks, again.
Welcome to the Campfire OZ/Ranger!

Wonderful video... thanks for posting and thanks for taking the time involved to make it and share it with us all..
Shooting the 243 a lot, I use all of those bullets tested except the Ballistic Tip Nosler, mainly due to cost also
and the others do more than a good job...

I also pick up the 70 TNTs in the bulk 1000 bullet packs...bought a batch when they were on sale for 10 cents a round last year...

Look forward to more of your posts and any other videos you care to share with the campfire..

cheers and best regards

I shot a lot of the 70g NBTs from my 6mm in the early nineties. It was about 3600 fps and I shot a lot of rabbits, rock chucks, crows etc.. an explosive bullet but the solid base always drove through. I switched to the 55g NBT once those came out and ran them at 4000 fps. They were great too.

Hey- welcome to the Campfire.

Haha yeah that thing got blown to a million bits. Bit of a waste of a 6-06 and barrel but it’s fun to take shots at warrens with it at 400 Yards.
Ozr,

Good stuff. I like the unusual tests different bullets and varying conditions, and your created some great visuals.

Keep up the good work. Hope you get a million views!
