Whew !
I thought for a moment Roy Clark had passed.
What about Roy Schneider? He kilt Jaws.

Still kickin?
Damn!! Roy’s dead?????
Roy Clark was talented no doubt and could play several instruments, but he was seldom the best at any instrument. Buck Trent could tear him up on a banjo and dont forget the Chet Atkins incident.
I was told John Cash could not sing. Yea right.
They all ded?
Don't forget Roy Drusky.

Hi Randy - immediately I am curious about the Chet Atkins incident. Can you describe or cite a vid?

Paul, this happened in the 70's and 80's if I remember correctly. Anyway, Atkins had won 3 or 4 CMA Instrumentalist of the Year Awards and then he kinda bowed out, let someone else win.

Clark won the same award for the next 3 or 4 years and then mouthed off (I dont remember the exact words) that nobody could beat him, he was the best.

Atkins took offense to this, you might say, and won the award the next 5 or 6 years in a row. When asked after the 2nd or 3rd award, in this time span, he said he would try to keep on winning for another couple of years, and he did. Then again he kinda bowed out.

Clark might have won another time, I just dont remember.

Clark later admitted that he gotten schooled by Atkins.

Orbison, petty, Harrison are gone
Jeff Lynne amd Dylan still kickin
How-dy.
I first thought of Roy Weatherby. One track mind I suppose.
Thanks for explaining Randy - I did not follow the awards aspect at all, but I have always listened to A LOT of guitarists. All around, it was very hard to top Chet Atkins and he has been one of the most favorite for me. Roy, not so much, but he did flash out some very fancy licks from time to time. I did not know about that braggin' part.
