Clay Christensen recently died. He was a genius and a leading theorist on organizational survival and change. Here he talks about the necessity of religion to the success of capitalism.

Be interesting to know what you might think would be the best belief for the success of communism.

That's easy: Atheism.

Humanistic evolution. Of course.
communism.is a success?
Prof. Christensen is correct, however he did not mention the more important aspect of the Judeo-Christian ethic. The intellectual foundation of capitalism is found in the Ten Commandments. Simplified: "don't steal" implies private property; "don't lie" implies contracts. Combine private property and contracts and you have the most basic building blocks of capitalism.

This is not to say that some other intellectual theory/religion/culture would not have arisen to provide the basis for the material and social advancement that we enjoy today. But it is to say that Christianity is the intellectual root of that advancement.

This is also not to say that one must be a believer to operate within capitalism only that one must adhere to the "culture" of Christianity for that economic model to prosper.

The world would be a boring place without the church telling us that money is the root of all evil...……...except when they tell you if you don't cough up 10% you are going to hell.

“ The Church” didn’t invent the 10% tithe.

Look into it.

Capitalism still has it fluctuations, groans, booms and busts
Just like the free market of the ancient world had to contend
with well before Christianity.

Take Pagan Roman Republic/Empire for example..
They had;
- Credit market causing cycles
- private property/enterprise means of production
- free market supply and demand industry
- global market
- active labor market
- contracts with penalties written into law.
- banking

And modern cap. stems from the enlightenment
period... ie: applying natural scientific law which is
exemplified by Adam Smiths work. /with cap. being
built around such a rational framework.

The Chinese people are hyper-capitalists so much so they make Americans look like amateurs. The problem with extreme capitalism is it can be incredibly cruel which can give rise to communist ideal.

The US may be a capitalist system but it has lots of socialism too.

There’s no ‘may’ about it.

To each his own conscience.

I agree with "to each his own conscience". I will leave it at that.
