Benny Goodman, Circle Star theater, San Carlos, Ca 1985
Posted By: cooper57m Re: Some Fun With Music? - 02/14/20
A friend of mine and skeet shooting buddy Mark Shane played piano with Benny Goodman. Check out his work, here playing with Catherine Russell who is the daughter of Louis Armstrong's musical director and a former background singer for David Bowie among others. She's now an excellent jazz singer.

All in the Game-Tommy Edwards

Many a tear has to fall but it's all in the game,

all in the wonderful game that we know as love,
,
You have words with him,

and your futures really lookin' dim,

But these thing your heart can rise above,

Once in a while he won't call, but it's all in the game,

Soon he'll be their at your side, with a sweet bouquet,

and he'll kiss your lips, and caress your waiting finger tips,

And your heart will fly away.

then he'll kiss your lips, and csress your waiting finger tips,

and your heart will fly away.

Take good care of my baby
Bobby Vee

My tears are fallin’ cause you’ve taken her away,
And though it really hurts me so,
There’s sometin’ I’ve gotta say,
Take good care of my baby
Please don’t ever make her blue
Just tell her that you love her,
Make sure you’re thinkin’ of her
In every thing you say and do.
Aww, take good care of my baby
Now don’t you ever make her cry,
Just let your love surround her
Paint a rainbow all around her
Don’t let her see a cloudy sky
Once upon a time that little girl was mine
If I’d been true I know she’d never be with you
So take good care of my baby
Be just as kind as you can be
And if you should discover
That you don’t really love her
Just send my baby back to me
Take good care of my baby
Take good care of my baby

It's the little ol' lady from Pasadena-Jan and Dean

The little ol’ Lady from Pasadena
(Go granny GO granny Go granny go)
Has a pretty flower bed of white gardinias
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go)
But parked in a rickety old Garage
Is a brand new Shiny Red Super Stock Dodge
And everybody’s sayin’ that there’s nobody meaner
Than the little ol’ lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She’s the terror of Colorada Boulevard
It’s the little ol’ lady from Pasadena
If ya see her on the street don’t try to choose her
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go)
You might drive a goer but you’ll never loose her
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go)
Well she’s gonna get a Ticket now sooner or later
Cause she can’t keep her foot off the accelerator
And everybody sayin’ that there’s nobody meaner
Than the little ol’ lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She’s the terror of Colorado Boulevard
The guys come to race her from miles around
But she’ll give ‘em a length and she’ll shut ‘em down
And everybody’s sayin’ that there’s nobody meaner
Than the little ol’ lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She’s the terror of Colorado Boulevard
She’s the little ol’ lady from Pasadena
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go)
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go)
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go)
(Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny GO)

As to the original intent of the thread, it, like many Campfire threads, managed to make a ninety-degree turn.

John, save the threads I start that go straight down.

Actual concert was in high school. 80s. Alabama.

After that Houston rodeo a few times not really a concert period.

Always said when/if Eagles came back I would. But prices I just can't swallow. But wife and her sister are going to Eagles in a few weeks. I MIGHT have gone but a hog hunt was scheduled and thats WAY more important.

That plus live concert sounds always suck worse than a good clean CD or DVD.

Excellent ballad piano playing - impressive chordal substitutes and passing chords - tempo stayed dead-on (some players would have sped it up unconsciously). key of D. Very solid player.

I didn't post music, like on you tube due to my ignorance on posting things like you tube or pics on here but I did post the title and lyrics of certain songs which I couldn't remember all of so I searched them. I didn't post any of my favorite country western songs because I believe they predate most all members here so I woulda been talking to my self. I'm pretty sure the 50s-60s tunes I posted probably predate most of youll but maybe some of the older people here will recognize one or two of them. They were great songs in their time. Songs like "All in the Game" are timeless hits. Bobby Vee hit the top of the charts in 1961 with "Take Good Care of My Baby." It was such a great song. And If you were a kid back in the early 60s you couldn't get "The Little Ol' Lady from Pasadena" Out of our head. Both the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean sang it. It was a big hit.

As for live concerts I've only been to one. It featured Sonny and Cher at an aditorium in Lake Charles Louisianna in 1972. The show included Comedian David Brenner and somebody else I can't remember. Concerts were a rarity back then We usually listened to our music on the car radio and it was mostly AM.
