And i thought she was a good girl !
hang in there,
from all I've heard it's no fun.

Pretty much gotta just ride it out. Some topicals can help and maybe a cortisone shot.
I hope your case is short term in nature.
Happened twice to me...I just ride it out...Valtrex seems to help...
Go to your doctor ASAP! He can give you Zovirax which will cut the severity and duration!

Mackey, many thanks. I’m sending this to two friends presently dealing with this.
If blistering, stay away from others, go see the doc and get some Lyrica for the pain.
Get to your doctor ASAP. I understand it can get in the optic nerve.

+1, Do it ASAP. BTDT, shingles are/can be really, really nasty s hit. Worse than the worst can case of 'roids.
Post herpatic neuralgia can, and does occur. Trust me, no fun.
Valrex is a better option but you have to start it right effing now.

This, start meds within 72 hours of symptoms or face increased risks of post herpetic neuralgia and a life of misery subsequently.
See your doc in the AM or hit the ER. Post herpetic neuralgia can fughk the rest of ones life up to the point of suicide.
Scary stuff, Jag.

If they wont, hit the ER.
Thumbs up. I set my alarm. My doc is virtually next door
Good fortune, 284.
Keep us informed, please.

I'm sorry to hear that, Craig. It causes unrelenting pain and suffering, for years.
catch one of them WV crooks and rub that schit all over them..........it'll make ya feel better at least.
I hope that miserable schit goes away soon.
I hope I don’t ever get that!
You can use rhus tox, a homeopathic remedy. It is available at health food store.
Wifey gets it some, don’t look like no fun!
I was given Gabapentin, I don't know what was worse, the shingles or the medication.
Went to the doc yesterday and got some Rx. (Valtrex) 3X daily. 21 pills Gonna go the vaccine route after it goes away.
Kind of a strange itch to it as it feels it's down in the flesh itself.
Many thanks for the concern !!!

Some of us don't get along so well with the Gaba. I was given it for something other than shingles and didn't like it much.

I used to get fiberglass splinters in the web of my fingers when I laid shingles. Uck!!!!
I was afraid to touch muhdik, until I finally got some good callouses built up.
Had some glass dust in my eyes from insulation. Had to have ground out.
Pretty cool. Process .
l had lt one time but a light case I think. My older brother got the shingles back in the 1980s and it never went away. The shingles is not what killed him but I have all ways said it ended his life because after coming down with them he couldn’t function because of the pain.
I read this as "Singles rash". Whole lotta stuff came to mind.
I'm 75,was told last year to get the shingles vaccine, both wife and I got one, then about 6 weeks later got the required second booster.
Was told there could be mild side affects, there was, got a very light case of the shingles on the right side of my chest, then a cough the led to sinus infection and eye infection, knocked me down for about 3 weeks.
Had my second shot in the series on Saturday. Woke up in the wee hours, sick to my stomach. All day Sunday, feverish, chills, and ached all over. Injection site red, swollen and painful. Hope it will be worth it.
My Grandfather had a bad case of shingles in his 80's. All the way around his waist. Really sapped him of his vitality.
I was given Gabapentin, I don't know what was worse, the shingles or the medication.
What did the Gabapentin do to you?
My wife had an episode several years ago on the side of her back and the doc gave her a prescription for adhesive lidocaine patches. They helped cut the pain a LOT.

I used to take Gabapentin for back and nerve pain. Never had any side effects. However I did have a test indicating abnormal Kidney function, as soon as that happened my pain management doctor told me to quit taking it. I guess it's pretty hard on the Kidneys.
When I had an episode of shingles, I had a small rash, but that didn't bother me much. The pain from the neck down through the shoulder was what bothered me and kept me in bed all day. Felt like someone had beat me up with a baseball bat all night long. Doctor prescribed Gabapentin which subsided the pain pretty quickly. From what I have read, If you have nerve pain and don't get it treated right away, you can end up with long lasting nerve pain.
I finally got around to getting the first of two shots of the shingles vaccination.
