I'm going to be visiting family in the Tucson area (Vail, actually) in a few weeks. I have a non shooter / non gun person who has developed an interest and wants some pointers on where to shop. I said training needs to be part of the purchase plan.

Could anyone offer advice on shops to check out in Tucson or Vail? Any to specifically avoid?

What about professional training, organized ranges, and so on?

Thanks all. I appreciate the input!!
second amendment on pima

for new you might as well look at sportsmans warehouse

these are stores I've browsed, haven't bought from any of them.

45_100 and pjgunner have more local ( and more recent) knowledge than I do, you might pm them
That's the sort of info I need, thanks!!
You need to check out Trail Boss Outfitters in Vail, one of the nicest little gun shops in the Tucson area. Also, there will be a large gun show at the Pima County Fairgrounds March 7th and 8 th. Largest gun show in Southern Arizona. Pima County has a very nice shooting range located across from the Fair grounds, with Rifle, pistol, and shotgun shooting ranges open on the weekend.. when, not if, you stop in at Trail Boss Outfitters, ask for the Tackleman, Aka Dennis.
Thanks!
