Rod Blagojevich is a greasy Illinois politician in the truest sense. That his interview on Fox yesterday was interesting. In a nutshell, the "says" he was a victim of over zealous prosecutors "moving the lines" between what is acceptable and what is criminal in what he was doing to solicit donations. He was not convicted in his first trial, but they got him in his second.

His contention is did what all other politicians do to fundraise. Says he never offered anything and never threatened retribution (his claim). He contends that prosecutors just kept telling jurors that what he did was criminal, and got convicted. Based on that application of the law, Blogo says all politicians would be convicted.

Now I'm not a Blogo fan, but given what we've seen the past 3 years with inter community, FISA Courts, DOJ , etc., I almost believe he might have been singled out.

Reminds me of France, where I've spent some time. They have untold number of laws. They are selectively enforced and some widely ignored. People are given a wink and nod on some things UNTIL, someone wants to make an issue of it, and bam! It gets enforced. Like Casablanca "I'm shocked to find gambling as this establishment!" "Your winnings, sir."
He sounded like he is convinced.

We are in a state of war. AFAIC anyone who votes D should spend several years in jail, for subversion. wink

Well, he was a dimocrap. grin
Whatever Blagojevich has done his entire life, the one thing he did right was marry Patty...

That woman is solid gold.

She stuck with him through thick and thin. She fought for him relentlessly.

Every man would be blessed to have a wife like her. The feminists could take a lesson from her.

Utmost respect for her.
Yep. The sorry, crooked, low life, lying bastard still gets laid. He must have a big bank account, or something. wink

Local news showed his homecoming up at Chitcago O'Hare … SOB is still campaigning, shaking everyone's hand and sportin' a huge grin.

After he left they interviewed most of the crowd and asked if he was a viable candidate in their minds … In unison they relied F*** NO! (I interpreted their response to best fit this crowd).
I seen him interviewed about 3 yrs ago, some sort of documentary. After hearing it all out, I was easily convinced he got screwed over. Actually felt sorry for the guy.

In my opinion he doesn’t breach the level of scum around chicago politics. Carol mosely Braun was a real piece of shît, then Obama’s greasy ass slid right that same seat.
Gotta say, mueller's maulers lend a certain air of credibility to blago's contentions.
He was sacrificed to create an aura of purity around the Anointed One.

Blago was a political prosecution by the same people who tried to frame Trump. It was all about punishing a guy who was mean to Obama when he was coming up in Illinois and discrediting him because he knew where all the Obama bodies were buried in Chicago. He also absolutely knew the truth about Bathhouse Barry.

His prosecutor was Fitzgerald who was a Comey buddy. It was exactly what they tried to do to Trump.

Anytime I looked at Blago he reminded me of what Damian in The Omen would have looked like when he grew up.

Hard to know what to believe anymore. I agree with Hatari, he is either innocent or the biggest narcissist I have seen.

Still trying to understand why Trump pardoned him... What's in it for Trump?

Trump realizes the same crooked bastards who were after him got Blago. Not much more or less than that.

He followed the well learned and practiced democrat mantra, “never, ever confess nor apologize “.

It’s that simple.
If what Blago says is true then the only thing warranted is not his release but to be joined in the adjoining cells by his fellow politicians.

We all also know that the Federal Court System is nothing but a kangaroo court.

The laws are written and prosecuted as such that you cannot defend yourself against any charges they bring.

Federal Court convictions are 95%.

edit to add correct info...

I was wrong. The Federale's conviction rate is 99.8%... eek

Quote
conviction rate in the US

As stated before, the conviction rate is the US has been steadily rising since 1973. While in 1973 the conviction rate in the US was 75%, it rose to 85% by 1992. By 2003, that figure rose to a staggering 99% conviction rate, and as of 2015, the federal conviction rate in the United States was 99.8% percent.

If he was framed by Comey then this pardon sends a message to Comey that President Trump can undo anything that Comey accomplished.

Blago was on Trump's Apprentice show proclaiming his innocence while he was under indictment.

It all seemed very strange to me at the time.
I think it is clear now Trump believes he has been punished enough.

TRUMP DID NOT "PARDON" HIM.

He CUMMUTED HIS SENTENCE.

HUGE difference.

Blago still stands convicted of his crime.

He still is a felon.

He still served eight years in the Federal pen.

The only thing.Trump altered was the length of his sentence.

Maybe Trump actually did something just because it because he felt it was right thing to do even if he suffers for it?

I bet if you look more closely at the things he has done you will see many examples of that...
Hatari: Young "blago" has had 8 (eight!) years to convince himself he did nothing wrong - I think he deserved some time in the pokey and that has been satisfied.
His ill gotten fortune is gone now and he now has to play on someones sympathy to earn food and rent monies.
I find it hard to lend much sympathy to any power-mad, greedy mentally questionable demonrat.
Having said that I hope he enjoys his family and life now that he has been commuted by President Donald J. Trump.

I am normally quick to applaud this president but gotta wonder how many now praising this release were calling Blaogivich all sorts of things before he was sentenced. I remember the trial and he sure sounded dirty as you get.
Blago was the perfect fall guy- - - -the rest of Obummer's crew was either black, Hispanic, Muslim, mixed race, q ueer, communist, or filthy rich. What chance did a narcissistic, obnoxious white dude who wanted a little slice of the corruption pie stand when it was time to pick somebody to throw under the bus?
