I almost believe Blago.... - 02/20/20
Rod Blagojevich is a greasy Illinois politician in the truest sense. That his interview on Fox yesterday was interesting. In a nutshell, the "says" he was a victim of over zealous prosecutors "moving the lines" between what is acceptable and what is criminal in what he was doing to solicit donations. He was not convicted in his first trial, but they got him in his second.
His contention is did what all other politicians do to fundraise. Says he never offered anything and never threatened retribution (his claim). He contends that prosecutors just kept telling jurors that what he did was criminal, and got convicted. Based on that application of the law, Blogo says all politicians would be convicted.
Now I'm not a Blogo fan, but given what we've seen the past 3 years with inter community, FISA Courts, DOJ , etc., I almost believe he might have been singled out.
Reminds me of France, where I've spent some time. They have untold number of laws. They are selectively enforced and some widely ignored. People are given a wink and nod on some things UNTIL, someone wants to make an issue of it, and bam! It gets enforced. Like Casablanca "I'm shocked to find gambling as this establishment!" "Your winnings, sir."
