I'm going to start a thread on this at the Campfire.
He's 86 years old and obviously going senile.
Hey, Clint. Remember what happens when the government disarms everyone? You should remember.

I just lost a lot of respect for you. Fuggin moron.
Clint is no different than any other Hollywood Actor....I can appreciate his acting/movies w/o placing any weight to his political opinion, as I'm sure, he doesn't place much in mine...or yours. smile Like most West Coast "Conservatives", they more readily identify as "Economic Conservative, Social Liberal". As near as I can tell, that means, #1 Leave MY money alone! and #2 I don't care how you live "as long as" You LEAVE MY MONEY ALONE! lol Ol Mammon is a hard Task Master...
Dementia is a helluva thing.
Disappointing as hell.

Clint's going to be 90 in May.

About the age that it happened To Ronald Reagan wasn’t it?
I'll give Clint a pass on this senior moment.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, libertarian superstar Clint Eastwood said he’s backing Mike Bloomberg over Donald Trump.

“The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there,” said the two-time Best Director winner who famously endorsed Mitt Romney in 2012.

In a word, he’s uncomfortable with Trump’s temperament. He explained it this way…

As for the domestic political scene, Mr. Eastwood seems disheartened. “The politics has gotten so ornery,” he says, hunching his shoulders in resignation. He approves of “certain things that Trump’s done” but wishes the president would act “in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names. I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level.” As he drives me back to my hotel, he expresses an affinity for another former mayor: “The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there.”

So how do you square a libertarian like Eastwood backing a fascist nanny-stater like Bloomberg.

Well, here’s the thing… Deep down inside, the American people have a lot of faith in the American System. Let me explain…

In their infinite wisdom, the Founding Fathers created a system of government that makes change practically impossible. The president is not a dictator; he can only suggest laws to the legislature. The legislature can be vetoed by the president. The president and the legislature can both be overruled by the judiciary.

This was deliberate on the part of our Founders, who understood stability is the key to a lasting democracy.

Even people who don’t understand how the Constitution works instinctually understand that our government is stable because — well, the government is stable. We don’t have revolutions. Politicians roll in and out. Change is incremental.

This gives Eastwood the confidence to back the Tiny Tyrant, the luxury to look at something other than Bloomberg’s rabidly anti-libertarian background — and in this particular case, Clint is looking at temperament.

So Eastwood, the Hollywood legend who stood in front of the whole world to ridicule Precious Obama as an empty chair, is put off by Trump’s tweets, put off by his outbursts, petty feuds, and his trolling…. And the only reason I mention the empty chair is to remind people that Eastwood is fearless, which means no one can credibly claim he’s choosing Bloomberg to seek favor in Hollywood.

Clint Eastwood doesn’t care about those things. He’s Clint Eastwood, for crying out loud.

What’s more, he’s not the only person who feels this way.

Throughout the Trump Era, I’ve kept in touch with a half-dozen people — everyday folks, including my dad — and I regularly gauge their temperature about Trump.

What’s interesting about these people, is that like Eastwood, on paper you can’t imagine they would support anyone but Trump. Politically, they align perfectly…

Well, three of them do support Trump and will crawl over glass to vote for him in November.

Of those three, two backed Trump from the beginning and one is a convert who voted for Ted Cruz in the 2016 primary and abstained in the general election.

The remaining three break down this way…

One voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, hated Trump in 2016, hates him even more now.

One voted for Hillary, but likes what Trump has done for the country and is considering voting for him in 2020. But she hates his temperament.

One voted for Trump in 2016 but is open to supporting either Biden or Bloomberg because of Trump’s temperament.

So in my little focus group of six, Trump could lose two votes over his temperament… And let me tell you, these two people are no more of a snowflake than Clint Eastwood.

I have a theory…

Based on his record, Trump should have a 55 percent job approval rating right now. Trump knows this, and he blames the fake news for shaving off those five to seven points.

Me? Well, I don’t believe the media have that kind of power anymore, so I think it’s more like half and half. The biased media are responsible for shaving off half of those points; Trump’s temperament is responsible for shaving off the other half.

Sorry, but Trump can be his own worst enemy.

I know there are times when he has to be unconventional and rabid, especially when the coup attempts are going on. But there are other times when he would serve himself better by being less exhausting and petty — by being normal where and whenever possible.

People like Eastwood and my dad are tired of the drama, the tension, the unforced errors; and while Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) are responsible for most of it, Trump is not blameless.

My dad is 81-years-old, blue collar to the bone, and always says the same thing: “He needs to stop tweeting.”

Well, I’ll crawl over glass to re-elect Trump, and I don’t think Trump should stop tweeting. But I do think that at times like these, when he’s on a winning streak, he could be more gracious and normal — so I get where my dad and Eastwood are coming from.

Lotta talk about this on Free Republic. From what I read there, the author is a liberal hack, and what Clint said is taken totally out of context.
More leftist misinformation. Nothing to get your knickers in a knot over. We got a long way to go til November. Expect more of this type of stuff.

he's an actor WHO gives a rat's a--!
This should show how unbelievably toxic Bloomberg is. The speed with which an icon like Clint Eastwood looses following and respect and destroys years of developing a persona for the Bloomberg endorsement is incredibly telling. Dementia due to age or not, Eastwood just lost a lot more than he ever imagined.

This.

Likely Eastwood was asked WHICH OF THE DEMORATIC CANDIDATES does he like?

Answer - Bloomberg

And like many of Trump's most arden supporters , even he wishes he would act like more of an adult at times.

But I do have to say this, unlike Eastwood ,Trump has never had a public conversation on stage with an empty chair..

Unless you count Trump debating Hillary, of course ..:)

I'll vote The Donald over any candidate the Dems can throw at him, but I bet there are a lot like me and the author's dad. If the Libertarians party were strong enough, and it's not, to offer a candidate that actually had a chance, Trump would be out because of his antics, not his record.

My wife hates the idea of another billionaire having control of the White House, but she's going to vote Bloomberg if that's the other party's candidate, or anyone but Trump......I repeat

Hell he rubs me the wrong way but he's doing one heck of a job and there is nobody on the radar remotely as good.
Trump Perfectly Explains Why He Keeps Tweeting Despite Making Barr's Job Harder.

President Donald Trump offered a solid explanation Tuesday of why he will continue to tweet, despite the objections of Attorney General William Barr and others to the practice, saying it is likely the reason he was elected and has been able to remain in office.

Asked before he departed Washington, D.C., on a western state swing whether he agreed with Barr’s call for him to stop tweeting about matters before the Justice Department, Trump responded,“You know everybody has the right to speak their mind, and I use social media.

“I guess I use it well, because here I am, I’m here, and I probably wouldn’t have gotten here without social media, because I certainly don’t get fair press.”

Trump cited the two “hoaxes” he’s had to fight his way through, providing counter-narratives to the establishment media while continuing to govern: the Mueller probe and the Democrat-led impeachment push over the commander in chief’s call with the president of Ukraine last summer.

“If I didn’t have social media, I probably wouldn’t be here. So, I’m very happy with social media,” Trump said.

The president has nearly 73 million followers on Twitter and over 26 million followers on Facebook.

Trump conceded, “I do make [Barr’s] job harder,” but added, “He’s a very straight shooter. We have a great attorney general and he’s working very hard.”

Last week, Barr told ABC News, the chief executive’s tweets, “make it impossible for me to do my job and to assure the courts and the prosecutors in the department that we’re doing our work with integrity.”

The president had weighed in on Roger Stone’s case, saying his longtime friend “was treated horribly,” and the initial 9-year sentencing recommendation by DOJ prosecutors was a “disgrace.”

The DOJ pulled the recommendation following Trump’s public comments, leaving the matter completely in the judge’s hands.

Barr insisted in his ABC News interview that Trump’s views had nothing to do with his department’s decision to withdraw the prosecutors’ proposed sentencing.

“I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody … whether it’s Congress, a newspaper editorial board, or the president,” the attorney general said.

On Tuesday, Trump told reporters regarding Barr: “I think he’s doing an excellent job. He’s a strong guy. I never spoke to him about the Roger Stone situation.”

That said, the president reiterated that he had the right to weigh in on such matters, pointing to the unfair treatment Stone and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and others have received at the hands of DOJ prosecutors, while former government officials like former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe get a free pass.

Both admitted to leaking sensitive matters to the media against FBI policy directives and have been implicated in other malfeasance regarding obtaining FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign, using the bogus Democratic National Committee / Hillary Clinton campaign financed Trump-Russia dossier.

“You look at what’s happening to these people [like Stone and Flynn]. Somebody has to stick up for the people. So social media is very powerful,” Trump said.

“Social media for me has been very important because it gives me a voice,” he added. “Because I don’t get that voice in the press, in the media. I don’t get that voice, so I’m allowed to have a voice.”

The Justice Department shut down anonymously sourced reports circulating Monday that Barr was considering stepping down because of Trump’s tweets.

“Addressing Beltway rumors: The Attorney General has no plans to resign,” DOJ spokeswoman Kerri Kupec tweeted Tuesday night.

Multiple studies have shown Trump has faced more negative media attention than any president in modern history.

The Pew Research Center found that during the first two months of Trump’s presidency, 62 percent of his coverage was negative, compared to 28 percent for both presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, and a mere 20 percent for Barack Obama.

For Trump, an additional 33 percent was neutral, while only 5 percent was positive.

Social media has been an equalizer for the president.

True, some of his tweets might be considered imprudent, but on the whole the president has used the platform to great effect — and should continue to do so.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion... even when they're wrong.
Clint Eastwood, the guy that cheated on his wife (wives)?

Just another celebrity to ignore.

Proly has a phag film in the works and doesn't want a protest to kill ticket sales.
I don't pay much heed to the blizzard of gun laws that spew out of Sacramento...but if Calif has 'red flag' laws, is senility a red flag. I've heard Eastwood owns a 29 S&W.
I'll give Clint a pass at least this one time. Could be an age related issue. If I ever see 89 years of age I probably won't have all my mental facilities functioning at 100%. At least my 93 year old Mother likes Trump, and yes, she voted for him and plans on doing so again.

Barry Goldwater had something similar happen to him in his dotage.
Kind of like what's happening to Joe Biden lately.
A Hollywood "conservative" would be a liberal in just about any of the other 49 states.

No wonder he's getting stupid.
I will make sure to vote for Blumberg in the primary.

Makes good sense.
Say it ain't so--.
Take your pick of the damn dumbest of the lot......and vote for them.
Ole Clint probably taken outta context with targeted questions.
And his brain is probably styrofoam also.
Never really liked S&W Revolvers and Pistols anyways.
i doubt that clint would be stupid enough to be taken in by blueballs ads but a lot of people will. his ads look good. hell makes me want to vote for him. until you do 5 minutes of research. clint is a hollywood/california guy. his opinion is suspect as with all of the phony hollywood crowd.
freaking Hollywood celebrity who cares what he thinks!
And Dick Van Dyke endorses Bernie the Communist.

Hard to imagine a slipping mind while still directing films.
Dirty Harry's playin' a game, he just hasn't said "Do you feel lucky?" yet.
