Just got word from the cardiologist/surgeon.
Mom has a 70% blockage of the main aorta (the one that causes the widowmaker heart attacks) and smaller but significant blockages in all the others.
They are going to have to do either a triple or quadruple bypass surgery.
They won't know for sure till they get in there and see how things look.
The surgery will be first of the week. They are working out all the details now and we should have the time/date nailed down by tomorrow.

Only 70%, I suspect she will be fine.
Great Aunt of mine had something similar. She had so much more energy and vigor for life after the surgery. It gave her a good number of additional high quality years.

Prayers sent for your Mom and the staff that will do the work. I had my triple in 2009 and have got 11 stints after that. But I am still doing what I want to when I want to.

It's great that she has a chance for treatment, lost my father at 62 to a "widowmaker" , prayers for your family.

My Dad had the quad done back when he was in his late 50's and lived a long time after.
They have gotten better at since the late 80's.

Yes, they caught it before any heart attacks. She was have chest pain , running up her arm to her face. Dad got her to the ER ASAP.

Mom's surgery is laid on for 1:00pm tomorrow an may be a long one (12 hours + ?). I also have my cancer treatment appointment at 10:15 so its gonna be a LONG day.

I know what your mom needs can be scary and yeah, things can go wrong..
At the same time, many cardiologists do these type of procedures daily, and have a team of support folks in there
that are both well trained and highly experienced... your mom is in good hands..
Prayers for the procedure to go well, with no problems, a quick recovery period and her still having many years ahead
of her, and with a loving family to love and support her...
