We got started with Linda Ronstadt in another thread. I'll put up one of the best.
Anything Alison Krauss says yes to me.

That chick could sing the phone book and it’d sound angelic.

The first Reba McEntire song I heard, I was blown away by that voice....

Uggghhh....I cant stand listening to Reba.

Jennifer Nettles either.

That's because you have rocks in your head.

Who's Jennifer Nettles?
Y’all posting the Fair Mee-Maws of Country.

She is the blond with the incredibly harsh voice who sings for Sugarland.

A similar harshness to Reba. You would like her I bet.
Vintage country, the first answer song.
We could go for a long time. Thanks folks.
Not one of the best. THE BEST! Ain’t nobody beats Patsy. I’ve been in love with her purtnear all my life!
Everybody knows about Loretta’s relationship with Patsy, but Patsy also helped Dottie West break into Country Music. Beautiful ladies, beautiful voices, beautiful songs.
7mm
Another I have a crush on.
Allison Moorer
Emmy Lou Harris and Bonnie Raitt work for me.
Country Music ain’t dead, but it’s on life support. Somebody here on the Campfire turned me on to this young lady a while back. Great voice, and best of all, she knows what a couple fiddles and a steel guitar does to a guy like me.
Fairly hot

She's about as hot as you could find. But she's an acid tripping gun hating hippy. With a good voice.

I'd let her sing to me. smile

Sumbahday doan like Jennifer Nettles? Well, KMA. I can't listen to today's "country top 40" BS on FM radio, except maybe for Miranda? Thank God for satellite radio in the truck.

Chely Wright

Emmylou Harris

Reba’s best

Lacy J Dalton

Holly Dunn

Back in 1980 they released Loretta Lynn’s bio movie, “Coal Miners Daughter”. Sissy Spasik played Loretta, and Beverly DAngelo played Patsy. There was no lip syncing or dubbing. Both girls sang the songs for the movie. I’ve always thought Beverly DAngelo one of the prettiest actresses, but she can belt out a tune as well.
Deana Carter

Gal in the band used to sing this song.

It was dead on.

She used to sing this song too.

She was great.

Always liked Reba, but gotta say that Hillary Scott has best voice in Country Music today. Too bad she chonked up these last few years, but still as clear as a tuning fork.

Hard to beat Patsy Cline.

But I really like Patty Loveless. And Marinina McBride.

One that's probably not considered a Country Singer but she sang the Tennessee Waltz and made it huge,

The Girls Next Door

Lee Ann Womack

Just some thoughts...the old school country women could sing right smart but were fugly, for the most part.

I worked on the railroad that went right by Reba's daddy's place. I still can't stand the antigun bittch. I despise Martina McBride almost as much.

En suma: LeeAnn Womack has probably got a nice snatch.
It's Patsy Cline first, and then everyone else. Patsy was the best, and it ain't even close for who's next.

We were having a large extended family dinner one night years ago. My nephew was 9yo then said...”Uncle I love Wynona cause she kinda growls when she sings.” To which I answered in front of far too many...”nephew, if you treat em right they ALL growl!” It got real quiet there for a bit!! Truth.
Hard to make a George Jones song better, but Miss Lori Morgan did.

Love this lady just awesome talent

Her stuff w/ Knopfler is outstanding:

I want Wayfaring Stranger sung at my funeral, no time soon.
This is the "Singin' Rage".
That’s a worthy tune to remind those left of the pilgrims progress!
Elf, I first head Wayfaring Stranger on the first "Outlaws" TV show. Richard Roundtree sang it.
One pretty little lady, if I was not a happily married man. laugh

Same here. Met her in 1996. Like I died and gone to heaven.
There sure have been a bunch of those Fair wimmen - er, ladies - in country music - and those here can't be anywhere near half of the bunch. "Best", someone says !! Surely that strictly is a matter of narrow personal preference.
