Yes! Not only that, but should we have a second vaccine for a mutated corona virus I would get both the old vaccine and the new. Your immune system is ofttimes partially effective against something it has seen before but it takes exposure which usually means infection to give your immune system any degree of competence. The parts of the virus that do not change will have antibodies from both vaccines fighting the antigen. The immune response to both vaccines does not have to be equal or even comparable. If you get a flu shot for many years chances are much better that if you do get infected the consequences will be much less. An individual vaccine may only be 50% effective. While we do not that I know of have a good handle on how long competence remains when you get a vaccine for several slightly different versions of a virus year after year. We know a great deal more about how long a given vaccine received on a one time basis can produce immune response And we are all familiar with vaccine that need to be boostered and some that just need periodic revaccination.

This virus is likely to be with us for some time and from what I have heard from people like Michael Osterholm. It is mutating which is how they have established it is likely that the corona virus has been circulating in Washington state for about six weeks. The projections of how many people have been infected in that time come from making an assumption about how many people were infected on a given date and then using the R0 number to project the expansion. It is not precise, but it should be close enough to base a plan on. Usually it's done by assuming a minimum and a maximum number of infected as a starting point and then run the numbers to provide a range for how many are infected at a given point down the road.

This looks very much like a situation in which we will have vaccines year after year designed to be effective, just like influenza. Viruses this well adapted to human infection don't often go away.

I used to never get the flu shot - then one year I got the flu - damnnnear killed me, I I get it every year - don't get sick, and if I get exposed to flu virus it's no where near as severe as full blown flu.

Use of flu vaccines is not without risk. You have to consider the small chance the vaccine could kill you or leave you permanently impaired versus the risk to you of the flu. For some people the vaccine is the best bet. For most it is not, but you won't get that from your lying government.

I'll pass...doesn't seem right for me to get it. Seems like old and sick people are the only ones who really suffer from this thing, so they can have first crack at it. Then there's all those poor souls who have lived in terror for the past year, fearing at every moment that they may be infected as they browse through the grocery store buying essential bonbons and soda, knowing they'll have to come back again in a day or two, putting themselves at severe risk again to keep their families fed.

What about all the folks driving around in their cars, or walking in the open air, wearing masks? What a burden that must be! I couldn't think of getting a vaccine shot while those poor delusional souls wander around without. And what about kids? Those little hooligans need to get back to school so mamma can day drink again instead of having to raise and educate their own children like some kind of peasant. Vaccinate the little buggers, I'll suffer on a little longer. Then there's healthcare workers, those brave souls who make dance videos while facing almost certain death, give or take 99%. Politicians need it for sure, we've seen that clearly we are lost without their leadership. Before I'd even consider taking it, I'd want a solid year to go by after a large percentage of the population had taken it, and by then I'd probably decide to be a "free rider" anyway.

By the time I will get around to qualifying for the vaccine (not old, not sick, and work and live in the sticks), there'll be quite a bit of time passed to expose any "bugs" in the vaccines. Plus the China Crud will have probably run it's course by then. So hardly worth prevaricating about. From what I can find out, though, the technology of these mRNA vaccines is really interesting.

It sure ruins all those Hollywood movies like "outbreak" where they whip out a vaccine in three days.

I've been very critical of the leaky non-sterilizing mRNA treatments. The FDA had to literally change the definition of Vaccine in August of 2021 to get them approved as such.
